Question:
Atheists, STOP using this evidence for debunking the ark?
2013-07-18 10:54:02 UTC
Some atheists say "if the ark was real, the animals wouldn't have enough oxygen to breath, thus killing all of them off.."

STOP USING THIS. And that's exactly what the Bible says happened (except for the animals with Noah and his family on the Ark). If you'd read it, you'd have known this already. Instead, you atheists offer them confirmation of their mythology.

Good job ALL YOU ATHEISTS!

That's not my argument against Noah's ark. My arguments are:

Food: Were did they keep all the food e.g. bamboo for animals such as pandas with specific diets.

Food chain: Why didn't carnivores such as lions eat herbivores. And if all the animals on the ark were herbivores were did they keep the plants for them to eat? Why did the carnivores start eating meat after they left the ark?

Environment/habitat: Animals need specific habitats

Poop: Were would all the poop go?

Animals: How would you be able to collect two of every insect, let alone animals. Many of less live in separate continents.

Marine life (these ones are more about the flood): The floodwaters would have either have been salt of fresh water, many aquatic animals may have died due to the

Water: not enough water to flood the world.

What?...

I've never heard this "not enough oxygen" argument.

The proof that Noah's Ark isn't real is found in the story itself. The story gives us the dimensions of the Ark in Genesis 6:15—“And this is how you shall make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits.

A cubit is the distance from your elbow to the tip of your middle finger. An inexact measure, its about 1.5 feet for most adults.

Even if we ignore the problem of keeping the predators away form the prey, and assume god simply dropped food on the Ark everyday, simple math will tell you that the Ark is far too small to carry 7 pairs of every "clean" animal and 2 pairs of every unclean animal. And how did Noah collect animals like penguins and beavers?

Oh, and by the way... there are several ancient stories about a great flood, including in the Gilgamesh Epic. It is most likely myth based on the flooding that accompanied the end of the last ice age, about 12,000 years ago.

John, that's not a question and I've never heard an atheist say that there wouldn't be enough oxygen on the ark. I'm a Christian and I believe what the Bible says about the ark, but your comment makes no sense. Sorry.
2013-07-18 18:16:23 UTC
The story of Noah's ark is just a rip off from MUCH older stories like the Epic of Gilgamesh written near 1700 BCE (BC). Which in turn is another rip off from a Hindu story about Vishnu and a great flood written in or around 3400 BCE (BC). Noah didn't come around until after 100 CE (AD).

Not only that but the bible is NOT an historical document, it is FICTIONAL and allegorical story. There is no proof for even the existence of Jesus let alone the thousands of contradictions and major inaccuracies in the bible. Nothing in the bible actually happened like it said.

That being said I'm not sure why your question was directed at atheists I am a Hindu and I actually understand what a straw man argument is, not to mention science and rational thinking, which clearly you do not have.

no, he's right because that's not evidence, it's a logical argument, and it's a faulty one, or rather it's not a convincing argument because for all we know that might have been how it happened and you need to look at evidence about conditions of that time before you can say what the truth of the matter is.. but there's no evidence supporting the story (not of a global flood i mean, and not of an ark built to hold examples of all kinds of land animal.. ah but there's an argument that would make the story impossible, if you're a creationist anyway, if the earth was completely covered over by sea water and noah took no fish aboard the ark, why are there freshwater fish today?)

Good job:- real intelligence = All the universe and all in it was bought about by nothing, by the power of nothing for no reason or purpose and with out design and by a random accidental explosion. Ha very Intelligent. Scientists have worked out mathematically, the probability of it all having come about by chance as so many millions of millions to one against. More chance of me winning the lottery 20 times in a row, even though I don't do the lottery.

When I was a boy we had a coal fire in the lounge. One day I had to collect the coal in from the bunker, one piece was too big for the fire. When I broke it I found encased inside a brass ornament, of quite intricate design. We are told in school that coal takes millions of years to form. The ornament could only have got there one way, suddenly, through Immense pressure the coal was formed. As the earth was being churned through an almighty flood then the tectonic plates parted to form new continents. Regarding oxygen on the ark, obviously there was adequate ventilation in the sides of the roof. Surprising you can't work that out.

Carbon dating has also been proved to be highly inaccurate, but they won't tell you that.

Funny thing: the discovery of genetics and genetic diseases are proof that Noahs ark never happened. Also the fact of the amount of animals in this world, it would be impossible to fit them all on a boat without any of them dying.

How about the fact that a wooden boat would snap in half if you tried to build one big enough to hold all the animals. There is a good reason why huge ships are made of steel you know. Learn some physics and then you will clearly see how ridiculous the ark fairy tale is.

I have never used that as an argument. Don't need to. There are way too many other arguments against that whole silly story. My prediction is at the next bible rewrite that story will be dropped or at least heavily edited.
