when does life begin?

if you believe in abortion, please tell me when you think that life begins? Just interested where you get that info. Because there is life when a heart is beating- and all baby's heart are beating at 3 weeks after conception- scientifically proven by the way= and women do not usually know they are even pregnant until after that.

At Conception. God knew us before we were formed in our mother's womb.

Our life and times were already written before the foundations of the world.

Our times are in His hands.

I believe that a baby is alive at conception. sprcpt says that life begins at birth and that a baby in the womb is a parasite. Well, apparently life has not begun for him yet because he too is a parasite! My parents were poverty level when me and my unexpected twin were born. They had the option to abort, but they didn't. They did the best that they could with what they had, and yea that includes working more than one job.

Just to be clear about another posting...Genesis 38:24 Just because a man in the Bible said he would burn her to death does not mean that the Bible supports killing pregnant women. Numbers 31:16 (if read) clearly shows what they did in 17 was against Gods will.

2 Kings 15:16-If you start at verse 13 you will see that this man was not appointed king of Israel and if you know anything about the Bible, some kings were sinful and did not follow God.

Hosea 13:15-16- This is Gods judgment on His people who turned from Him just like in the flood. Although i can not explain this one away I also do not want to question God.

Numbers 3:15-God only counted the ones who are 1 month old because they were the ones who came out of Egypt. Not because that makes them a person.

Numbers 5:12-31- Muddy water will not abort a child. This passage does not even say if this works. If it did work it would be none other than an act of God.

Ecclesiastes 6:3-5, Matthew 26:24-Neither of these passages have anything to do with abortion. Ecc. says it is better for a man never to have been born than to unsatisifed with his prosperity, and Matt. says it is better that Judas never be born then to betray Christ.

Genesis 2:7- Describes how Adam was made. He was not conceived like a normal human so God had to put the life into him. God gives us the breath of life threw our mother. Babies have to breath (get oxygen) somehow!

I miscarried 3 times and it broke my heart because I wanted every baby I conceived (and I thank God for the two wonderful babies I got to have).

One time I miscarried at 10 weeks into the pregnancy. I saw this tiny little baby. So small its feet were not more than 1/3 of an inch long. It had teenie tiny fingers and the curve of its little eyelids was sheer poetry. As tragic as this event was for me, I was still able to appreciate how "human" my baby looked. I don't mean to upset anyone by sharing this; it still hurts sometimes when I remember these losses, but even though it was too early to tell if it would have been a boy or a girl - my child was beautiful in my eyes.

I believe that children are a gift, which is what the Bible says. I believe that when a woman conceives in her body the child has begun its life - because God has created it in her body through the miracle of conception. Even though three of my children went back to God before they could ever draw a breath it doesn't mean their lives were without value. God gave them a life that was cut short on earth and so it will be fulfilled in Heaven. I have no scripture to back my last idea, but I believe that all fetuses/babies who die before birth (as well as after birth) are raised in Heaven, by Angels. When I go to Heaven, finally, I expect to meet my 3 other children and I will be so overjoyed to finally meet them. I had two girls, who knows, maybe some of these three will be boys!

All I know is at some point in the process you have a human being. Premature births prove that. At what point? No one can really know. That is a pretty good case for erring on the side of safety and not aborting at all.

This whole abortion issue causes more questions than answers. For instance, if a woman is pregnant and wants the baby and some evil doer attacks her and deliberately kills the unborn child is that murder? If the same woman did not want the child is it still murder? What do we charge the killer with, performing a medical procedure without a license?

A woman can legally have her baby killed literally one second before its head emerges but not one second after. Why? Why is one act legal and the other murder? Both end the same person's life. Why is that ever Okay?

There is no beginning and no ending to 'life', it just is in different forms.

This is my opinion:

Life in human form -

If you believe in God then you know that we are an 'idea' in the mind of God before we ever put on flesh and walk the earth, so life began then, at God's inception. God knows every particle of us individually and collectively before we ever are carried in our mothers' wombs.

If you are not a God believer, then life begins, and is held, in the biological parts that come together to begin to form the cellular structure we call a body. So, before conception even occurs, there is 'human life waiting to take form'.

Thanks for an interesting Q :)

Life begins at conception.

Three Nobel Prize for Medicine winners, in 2002, established that a fundamental mechanism that embryos employ to get rid of redundant or abnormal cells also exists in humans after birth, and may play a role in Aides, heart disease and cancer many decades after that individual's birth.

Certainly by the time you look at an ultrasound, you see signs of a life being lived by your baby.

The mouth of your child yawns. Its feet kick. Its hands wave.

Such images of life stirring in the womb, of a 17-week-old fetus, no bigger than a newborn kitten, are at the forefront of a biomedical revolution that is rapidly transforming the way we think about the prenatal world.

Long before your child is born, its genes engage the environment of the womb in an "elaborate conversation"!

A two-way dialogue that involves the very air that mommy breathes (don't smoke), and the water you drink, and also what drugs you take (even caffeen), what diseases you contract (german measles, etc.) , and what hardships you suffer.

There's no doubt in-the-womb surgery is an awesome feat of modern medicine. But equally amazing s the fact that 99 percent of babies sidestep birth defects altogether and are born spanking healthy.

It's incredible the natural process of fetal development doesn't go awry more often.

But then, human development itself, from single cell to tiny human being, is one awe-inspiring trip.

Praise GOD for the gift of life!!!

Life begins at conception. IT is changing from the time of conception. It has human DNA before this baby is even born. SO yes, this is a growing life, a human life, and therefore noone has a right to murder that unborn baby. It just needs protection in the womb for awhile. So if life has no value unless it can live on its own, then you best hope that if you are ever needing to be on tubes for awhile, or one of your children, that they are just killed insnantly by the same kind that says they can kill at unborn baby.

IT doesnt matter if a woman doesnt know she is pregnant yet, so what/ She still is. Not knowing doesnt change anything.

Even before they can detect a heartbeat, it is still a live baby, or it wouldnt be growing and changing with human DNA>

IF a baby is dead in utero, that that baby will not continue to grow , but will wither and die. WHen a nation deceides to not value even the life of their unborn children, they are a nation to be curesed by GOd. Blood sins will destroy a nation. But GOds ppl will be protected, hallelujah. HAve any of you noticed how bad things have God since abortion was made legal??? I rest my case.

I pray you will all allow God to talk to your heart about all of this.

To kill an unborn baby is as low as it gets. WHat if the baby is born and has a serious diablitlity, a life that many will say is not viable or vauable??? Then what, can you smother that baby? What if the child is 12, and is injured and severely disabled, then can you kill that child? EIther taking a life is ok or it is not. WHen we murder our own chldren, this nation will not be blessed, only cursed by God. and we sure do see it happening all around us today. Seeing young girls bragging about how many abortions they have, no reguard for life for anyone, not even their parents. We must be careful what we teach our children, they may really be listening...... and yes they are.

Until this nation turns back to God, we are a cursed nation, and only Gods ppl will truy be protected. WE see evidence of that all around us daily.

God doesnt want this, but those who will ignore Him and kil their own children, bring this on the rest of us.

WE get what we show God we want and need.

I can only pray more will hear His voice and run to HIm in time...

God bless you for the question.

I am one that does not believe in abortion. It is sad that people will not give a baby the chance to live, but then in all honesty, when you read in the newspaper about those people who have children and then kill them after they have delivered breaks my heart that much more, especially when there are people out here dying to have a baby. No birth control responsibility , and then killing a healthy baby after birth? The in between would have to be an abortion...

I firmly believe that life begins way before conception as it emanates from God in Heaven and enters the womb at the point of conception.

LIfe begins officially in my mind at the moment of conception, but we are all thought about and known intimately by God, years before we were conceived. :)

Abortion stops that life. It's murder, without a doubt.

Life begins at conception:

Psa 139:13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

Psa 139:14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

Psa 139:15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

Psa 139:16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Personally I don't "like" abortion.

What a great answer from s7e28w81 (I had to copy it for future reference - thanks).

The truth/facts are that there simply is not easy straight forward answer to this question - it is a matter of OPINION, reguardless of how you reach your conclusion it is your OPINION.

Therefore I defer this to a personal issue that ONLY involves the mother. If the unborn child is viable (can live outside the womb) then I do consider it another matter. I consider viability to be the ability to live without extreme measures.

Yes I support a woman's right to choose.

I'm about to become a father, myself and feel that life begins at conception.

That does make abortion a very difficult decision indeed.

Life begins with God - He is zoe life. God is Spirit, and the Spirit gives life.

After Adam's fall, we were all dead in our transgressions. But after we received Jesus, He breathed life into us and regenerated our spirits. "And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give (zoe) life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you." (Romans 8:10-11)

In the natural, the life of a person begins in the mother's womb. Studies have shown that pregnant mothers who listen to classical music give birth to children who are intelligent and inclined to music. Corrinne May, a Singaporean songwriter based in USA, is one such example. :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corrinne_May (scroll down to Facts)

never

it never begins and it never ends. it is a never ending spiral. just like time . I am pro-choice. but I would never have an abortion myself . I have had pregnancy scares where I have thought about it and have decided I just can't do it. how far along the pregnancy is does not matter . a life is a life . to me that would be like saying . It is OK to kill a spider but it is wrong to kill a polar bear. but that is how I see things . others may see things differently .

sperm, though has inactive chromosomes, is still alive, life begins there. This is existence/soul.

With conception, the inactive haploid chromosomes joins with the egg and develops a conscious being. I would think chromosomes, decide the genetic makeup (structure and organs/brain), but life/soul exists before that.

As far as; life begins? as far as I am aware it begins from the first breath but I could be wrong.

At birth.

Even the bible states a difference between the born and unborn.

If someone causes a woman to miscarry they are to pay a fine of 10 shekels to the father.

Compare that to the biblical penalty for murder.

Edit - Those ultrasounds show a parasitic growth.

Got this info from another member, checked it, and sure enough there are some contradictions

The Bible shows that God does NOT consider human life to be precious. He kills OVER 2 million people, including babies, and that isn't counting fetuses or the number of men, women, children, and fetuses killed during the Flood or the Slaughter of the Firstborns, when we are not told how many people he killed.

The Bible clearly shows that God approves of abortion, and in many cases commands it:

The Bible approves of killing pregnant women: Genesis 38:24, Numbers 31:17

The Bible approves of abortion: 2 Kings 15:16

God approves of abortion: Hosea 13:15-16

People are not counted as persons until they are a month old: Numbers 3:15

The Bible contains directions on how to abort any pregnancy caused by adultery: Numbers 5:12-31

The Bible says that being aborted is better than living a bad life: Ecclesiastes 6:3-5, Matthew 26:24

The Bible says that a person becomes a living soul when he BREATHES the BREATH of life into his nostril (fetuses don't breathe): Genesis 2:7

1 minute ago - Report Abuse

Jesus (as a Jew), probably believed that "life" began at birth, as explained in the Old Testament. There is no biblical support for an "anti-choice" position. Have you read your bible?

Here's what your Bible actually says about abortion:

Abortion is not murder. A fetus is not considered a human life:

If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life. -- Exodus 21:22-23

The Bible places no value on fetuses or infants less than one month old:

And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male five shekels of silver, and for the female thy estimation shall be three shekels of silver. -- Leviticus 27:6

Fetuses and infants less than one month old are not considered persons:

Number the children of Levi after the house of their fathers, by their families: every male from a month old and upward shalt thou number them. And Moses numbered them according to the word of the LORD. -- Numbers 3:15-16

God sometimes approves of killing fetuses:

And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive? ... Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. -- Numbers 31:15-17

(Some of the non-virgin women must have been pregnant. They would have been killed along with their unborn fetuses.)

Give them, O LORD: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts. -- Hosea 9:14

Yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb. -- Hosea 9:16

Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up. -- Hosea 13:16

God sometimes kills newborn babies to punish their parents:

Because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die. -- 2 Samuel 12:14

God sometimes causes abortions by cursing unfaithful wives:

The priest shall say unto the woman, The LORD make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the LORD doth make thy thigh to rot, and thy belly to swell. And this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, to make thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to rot: And the woman shall say, Amen, amen. ...

And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people. And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed. -- Numbers 5:21-21, 27-28

God's law sometimes requires the execution (by burning to death) of pregnant women:

Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt. -- Genesis 38:24
