I find when I'm discussing with any religious person that pointing out the immorality in the bible is pointless. I use the scientific inaccuracies in every religious book as my main argument. Once you show that the books are inaccurate factually than who gives a **** what the rest says.

Whatever the bible is, it's not a science book.

Religious people have a proud and open disregard for science. Pointing out that their religion is scientifically impossible / inaccurate just rolls off their backs. That's almost a compliment to them. They make all their stands on emotional arguments like morals so hitting them there is where it hurts.

when I see a medically obese person that is Christian and bashing on a gay person I'm just going to point out the whole gluttony sloth situation. there's a reason why you shouldn't finger point and judge others and it has to do with cleaning if your own backyard before worrying about with the neighbors are doing

I will use the immorality because it's supposed to be a moral guide.....

It actually enrages me...it's an emotional thing of course, not logical at all....to be told I have zero morals by somebody who follows a book of genocide & bigotry

PS: OOPS, I didn't see that you used the word "key" - it actually isn't my key argument....but I do use it

It's important to remind the god-botherers that, deep down, they don't really believe it either.

The fact that they know enough to immediately disavow slavery and genocide, instead of standing up and proudly celebrating it the way their god does, is the dead giveaway that the Bible doesn't inform their moral sense in the slightest.

I don't use the immorality as a key argument, unless I am arguing against the idiotic theistic argument "atheists have no morals, you need the bible to give you morality" Then and only then is the morality in the bible an issue.

You're less emotive then, and will resonate more.

People claim the Bible as a moral and holy book, not realizing what it contains. It is a factual argument.

If one wishes to present a collection of ancient story books as being factual then they must a accept the entire book, not just that which supports their belief as factual. The bible did not even exist until the fourth century so it is not fact nor evidence of anything accepting the colourful, creative and superstitious mind of ancient man.
