Can one claim there is only one religion and one way for all ?

If so - Please elaborate without refering to your own religion or way but use your own reflected arguments.

If not - Please be specific and bring some concrete points.

all of them can claim but it would not be true.

"munde munde matirbhinna" that is said in an Upanishad. it means as "there are as many opinions as many heads" .

so even if there will be only one relegion there will be vastly different views . that will lead to formation of dfferent sects. thats how there are so many relegions in the first place.

buddhists tried to debate everything and go by majority for their beliefs. even that did not stop it in splitting heenyan and mahayan sects. i can go on but i suppose i made my point.

Some of the answerers have already hit the nail on the head as regards the issue of claiming things so I will let that lie and offer something to consider.

All religion seems to be concerned with variations on the ideas of reward/redemption in the next-life/afterlife if one meets the specified requirements in this life. So, anything one does - no matter how apparently altruistic - is necessarily selfish. It might, therefore, be possible to argue that there is ONE religion and that is the religion of SELF.

I have colleagues and friends of a number of different faiths and I have yet to find anything I can wholeheartedly agree with. But many general principles are basically the same and worth considering.

(Actually I tend more to Buddhist principles - philosophy, not religion. I also accept that God/s may or may not exist and that it is pointless arguing or worrying about it because there is only one way of satisfying one's curiosity.

In the meantime I accept respoonsibility for my own actions.)

Certainly one can claim anything, but there is no way for a mortal person to prove a religion. Just saying "the Bible is proof" doesn't prove anything as each religion has it's own relgious texts. What makes the Bible different? In reality each person's faith is just that - faith. Besides, I find it hard to believe that if there was a way to prove a given religion as the correct one, that there would be as many religions and sects as there are in the world.

To do something different on here, I will not use my own religion (xtianity), 'cause everyone else will probably do that. Of course, most people believe there own religion is the one which is for all humanity. I'll be neutral.

While I am not a member of this sect, the closest you can come to a universal religion is the Baha'i faith:

- There is a belief in one God.

- They believe that all religions have truth and acknowledge all the prophets of all major religions.

- They believe in social justice and peace.

I had thought of Unitarian Universalism, but in practice, most of them are so anti-religious it is a turn off for most people.

There are a couple (but I can only think of the name of one of them right off the top of my head) that do claim that is what they are. But when you go looking in to their doctrine it's a garbage mish mash that contradicts its self. Can there ever be one that everyone agrees on? Not a chance. Too many of us believe different things for that to happen. Then there is the ones that don't believe in anything. This world is far to diverse for any one belief system to effectively take hold and encompass all belief systems. Religion is a hot-buttoned issue that is divisive on it's base. Those who hold firmly to their belief system aren't going to change or turn their back on it because something sounds better. For a lot it's very ingrained, stretching back to their childhood. For people like that one religion for the entire world isn't a viable option. Especially for Muslims and Christians who have doctrine that warns against a one world religion in plain language.

Religion is not acceptable to God at all. All religions are man doing the work to gain the approbation or approval of God. What is the standard? How good do you have to be? Well in Isaiah 64:6 it says "All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags in the sight of God" That means you and I can not be good enough to EARN salvation.

Christianity is NOT a religion. In Christianity God (Jesus Christ) does all the work on the cross. This is the only work that God accepts. When you believe that Christ died or paid the penalty for your sins on the cross God gives you the righteousness of His Son Jesus Christ and then when you die you go to heaven. It is as simple as that my friend.

People can claim all kinds of things, but that doesn't make their claims valid.

There is no 'right' religion. The whole concept of a chosen people died on the cross.

The Bible is the only book that foretells all things. No other so-called religion or writing can make this claim.

Christianity is the only religion that can be proven to be true. Following the Bible is the best way to go. It is the TRUE word of the one and only TRUE God.

The only religion that will work for everyone is to be true to yourself. My religion does this for me, it allows me to accept science and my personal experiences - but I can't say it will work for everyone. But if we follow what is in our hearts and do what is right for us (knowing that living in a good world is in our best interests) than it works.

Just my two cents.

Yes because anyone can claim anything and not back it up with the facts. Also if you repeat somethings enough times people will believe it is true.

Yes. And the best way I can explain it to you since I am limited on what to say is: The Bible speaks of One Faith, One Lord, One Truth, and One Baptism.

there is only 1 religion: LOVE.

All religions try to benefit people, with the same basic message of the need for love and compassion, for justice and honesty, for contentment.

All religion is faith based. Why gamble. You can read the bible cover to cover and make your own decision.

YES - one can - and one does.

Elaborate? Okay. I've proven it to myself many times over.
