Question:
Why do 'miracles' only happen in the dark and a long way from TV cameras?

What is happening in Chile is not a 'miracle'. It is an application of technology, easily explained by someone who knows geology and mechanical principles. A 'miracle' would involve a supernatural force acting in a manner in total opposition to known laws of nature. And since the invention of TV cameras, no one has been able to do anything that opposes the laws of nature.

If a miracle happened right in front of my eyes, in my house, do I have to rush for a camera, which I don't have? Miracles do happen "acting in a manner in total opposition to known laws of nature", as you said, and it happened in my house, and do I have to say it was technology?

There were no pastors, magicians or anyone, just me and family.

It's the media spin to boost ratings and make things even more dramatic than they already are. I agree in the news media eyes alot of things lately seem to be miracles. But I am happy they are getting out after being stuck so long.

That's why the number of reported miracles has been declining steadily since the Iron Age. As we become more skilled at interpreting various phenomena and events, we discovered that those things reported as miracles were actually mundane, natural occurrences. It's kind of sad when that happens. It's like telling a kid there's no Santa Claus.

I know, it is amazing how the religious can take the credit of god for the technology that was applied in Chile. First of all if god did exist, he would be responsible for the collaspe of the mine, so why are they saying god is good, when in truth this god, who is said to be king of planet earth, would allow such things.

Come on. If we didn't have technology right now those miners would be dead. Religion would have killed these people long ago because the popes and priests would think they were witches or something.

no one has ever survived for this long underground, AND IMHO it is a miracle, not only did they survive, but all made it out safely, how many times did this capsule go up and down, WITHOUT caving the hole in, this rescue took a LONG time...the power of prayer IS very effective, there were prayers being sent from all over this earth, myself included:-) I know He showed us a miracle, we needed it badly in this world. I consider it a very good "reminder" that He is with us and will remain so. you are free to feel as you do:-(

Didn't you see God smote the earth - a hole opened and God deployed a celestial elevator to magically raise the men to the surface.

Don't believe the engineers who claim they did it all with hard work and planning, how dare they claim they used physics and NOT prayer - it was a miracle i tell you !!!!

Complete insult to all those people working hard to get the miners out to thank a non-existent being who mysteriously wasn't around when the mine collapsed and isnt around when thousands of people starve to death each year or get washed away in NATURAL floods.

A miracle is the thing which is very-very much difficult and unexpected. It can happen at any time and at any place. What has happened in Chile is miracle as before this the people did not survive for so many days trapped in the mine.

what you folks don't seem to understand is that many modern-day miracles are of the Lord. all wisdom, all knowledge comes from God. our technology is because God has allowed us to advance this far. all good things come from God. the fact that we exist is a miracle. the earth is a miracle. children being born are miracles. people surviving injuries that should have killed them are miracles. cancer disappearing is a miracle. it takes faith in the Lord to see miracles for what they are. if you have no faith in God and believe only in yourself, then you are spiritually blind, and i suppose nothing is miraculous to you.

Because "miracles" are simply occurrences that have a very low probability of happening. There is nothing divine about it.

liwmld is a perfect example of a Christian moron. Technology is a miracle because God has allowed us to advance this far? What a load of absolute bullsh*t.

Miracles are born of ignorance. To label something as a miracle is to admit that you do not understand what happened and you are either unwilling or unable to figure it out.

You´re right. This car compay a while back said in its advert that if you bought this car, it would come with free ´Protection from Space Aliens.´ The device was a free camera.

unless you're a muslim then you just stage them.

also, how does 33 miners being trapped half a mile underground count as a miracle?

People think events that they find inspiring are "miracles". It's funny, really.

Because it is easier to keep your stories straight when you don't have any pesky proof laying around.
