Question:
Does Future exists ?
2007-10-14 23:38:19 UTC
I dont think it exists, its only in our mind that we create a future, its a survival tool for men because they think of future, what you do now shapes your future, thats all there is to it,,I mean your past, your present, your future. Its your survival thinking in your brain, the father, the son and the holy ghost, Brahma vishnu shiva,,, I could go on but what do you think of it

We are not just reluctant observers along for the ride through time, we actively participate in our life's journey. The present unfolds as we experience it, reflecting past thoughts and actions. The future is not so much set in stone as it is set it mud. We come to cultivate the future with our very ideas of the present. Karma is not really a debt that must be paid according to some universal tally sheet, nor is it necessarily a set of specific circumstances that must be experienced because of deeds or misdeeds from the past. Karma is more like memory. It is a pool of information that the subconscious mind draws upon and can utilize in the present. It has elements that are positive as well as those which seem negative. This subconscious memory has an effect and influence on how we think, how we react, what we choose, and even how we look, but free will is always on-hand. There really isn't karma "between" people; instead, there is only karma with one's own self. It is all in the efforts to better know thyself. Many blessings, Happy Easter :)

There's this saying, "Today is Yesterday's future." If you are alive to day and can recall yesterday - then future exist. But you are right the future does exist in our minds - but our minds are part of reality. A single mind molds our individual future - collective minds mold collective futures. Whether you belive in Hindu philosophy or Christian doctrines - all the same - there is a future that would be real.

I think I understand your thinking but, literally, the future will exist in reality - tomorrow will happen, as will 2008, 2012 and so on. But does our own personal future just happen, or is it controlled by a higher power, Karma or whatever - I believe we have some control of our own destiny but how much is open to debate.

future isn't an object it is a thought.....one that isn't always correct.....i could get hit by a car and die tomorrow but as for tonight i believe in my own future ten years from now even though it wont happen and doesn't exist.

future is just a way to plan possibilities out mentally

also the past did happen but isn't here anymore so therefore it doesn't exist but is merely a thought of what did

Hey, great question! Yes, there definitely is a future for all of us. It is up to us how we make it. We all know that being good and doing well in this world is good for us and our future. We were made and brought up so that we practically do it, which, in return goes to our credit. But there's more to it than that.

For a moment, look around and ask yourself, 'Why are these things in existence?' They were made for us. Why? As we all are under constant supervision of the All-Mighty, we are faced with numerous tests and trials given by God. Why? To see how we respond. Whether the things that were made for us are being used in the right way with good intentions or not?

We are given a lot in this world but we do not have time to stop and think and appreciate God for his favors. When we are happy, we forget God; when we’re sad, we blame God. Being grateful to him in both cases is the main thing.

Who made these things? Ram, Krishna, Buddha, Abraham, Moses, John, Jesus, Mohammed etc...keep them aside, because weren’t they humans like us? Only one God can. They had special powers, why? by God, so that they can deliver the right message to the people of this world.

The things around us have been there since the existence of God and will always be. We will die but God never dies. We will be given eternal life in the future (Paradise) as a reward for our good deeds done in this world, in the Hereafter (future) by God.

The future is a subjective term given to the linear perception of time or something that hasn't yet happened but may happen at a later point beyond the now.

Of course future exists. I just don't think the kind of future we portray in TV shows will exist anytime soon. But we can look back at people in the past and we are their future.

The future does not exist because it's always the present. You only live within each and every moment of time...

Well, the present couldn't happen if there's no future. Every second that goes by is a new present. This couldn't happen if time didn't move and there were no future.

How can something exist that hasn`t happened yet?,,,,as you say the future exists only in our minds,,we put far too much into heavenly beings, fairies and fortune tellers,,,,all there is is now and the after effects of now,,,

As CS Lewis said "The future is something that everyone attains at 60 minutes per hour, whoever he is, whatever he does".

the future is hope. the present is real. and the past is history.

So we take history to change what is real to give us hope for something different.
