Question:
My teenage son's friends turned him to the occult and now he is acting really strange?

My teenage son entered the tenth grade earlier this year and ever since he got back in school he's been making new friends, but I believe that his new friends have been introducing him to the occult and ever since he started hanging out with them he's acted very weird. He's gone from just wearing dark colors a lot of the time to wearing nothing but black clothes and has become really gothic compared to how he was just a year or two ago. He has been buying books from I don't know where that are full of witchcraft and occult subjects, and he says that he is a thirian or something like a werewolf. He speaks in strange incomprehensible languages a lot of the time, which his friends seem to understand, but no one I know can figure out what he is saying. He disappears a lot at night and performs rituals in our house and outdoors. He stopped going to church after getting into an argument with the pastor. I got a call from the school that he was conducting a ceremony in the bathroom with some other students and had lit candles in one of the stalls. When he is asked about religion he just goes on about some guy named Aire and these strange gods, like the half-human half-goat hermaphrodite god or Catchyurside Zork. How can I get the devil out of him and bring him back to Jesus?

All tenth grade teenagers act strangely in one way or another. And while the occult is complete nonsense, keep in mind that religion is also complete nonsense.

Our children reflect ourselves. Make this about YOU and the solution will come. If you make it about him, you are playing judge, (Matthew 7:1-2).

You are obviously intrigued by the occult now or once were yourself and this is YOUR exploration.

There is a part of us that is intrigued with dark mysteries. There is nothing wrong with that actually, since GOD Himself Is shrouded in the thickest and most mysterious 'darkness' Himself, (Psalm 18:11), even though He Is Light, (1 John 1:5). There is no actual darkness in Him, only surrounding Him. He does this for our protection, since we cannot begin to handle the glory of His full Presence. Yet, this is the definition of 'occult,' which implies anything hidden behind darkness and mystery.

Scripture tells us that Jesus Himself Is the ultimate 'occult' Figure in the sense that He Is GOD's 'mystery,' embodying and supplying all accessible forms of knowledge and wisdom in a familiar human form, (Colossians 2:2-4).

So even the 'dark' culture is being stolen by evil, which is attempting to co-opt it as its own. The 'Gothic' culture was originally Christian and its mysteries were also Christian. So those living out its subculture and lifestyles are not far from the Christian 'mysteries,' kept from experiencing them only by a deception, being influenced by evil into pursuing a poor imitation that reveals nothing of value and ultimately harms the person.

Are you willing to admit to your own more healthy fascination and pursue the genuine and legitimate version inspired by Christ through His Holy Spirit, or are you content to play 'judge' while your son goes on following the poor examples of those around him instead?

That is the challenge of GOD's personal divine calling for you. You don't have to know how to do it, only recognize that this is what GOD Is asking of you and inviting you to do. We each face a similar challenge in life, which GOD tends to reveal to us through the human dramas around us, especially those involving loved ones. The Holy Spirit Is there to guide us, equip us and help us complete that calling.

6"For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." (Philippians 1:6).

I don't know how you can get the devil out of him and bring him back to his senses, but you can keep him from hanging out with those kids after school and on weekends and possibly if you can afford it, put him in a private religious based school or home school him for a while. Also you can have him looked at by a mental health professional to make sure he isn't becoming schizophrenic. This could also be a stage. My sister was in witchcraft in high school and got out of it on her own a year later.

Make sure you pray about him in each days prayers! Pray for his protection. Do not let any hates get into yourself!

Perhaps even pray for all that are also with him?

See if there is anyone near you that is already experienced in this.
