What is the worst atrocity associated with the Christian faith?

to many to mention, from preaching young men into it's numerous wars. Torture of Indians to convert them and then telling widows to preach their husbands out of hell they had to give the church all their money. They were wicked and did a lot of horrible things to others in the name of religion. From slavery to torture of others.

That would be the failure of the Christian church to fully evangelize and convert the whole world. Thus allow sin to run rampage and cause all kids of atrocities.

Look at what happened when the Christian faith was removed from the USSR. 17 million killed in the first few years under Lenin and Stalin. 23 million more under the later governments. All because Christians failed to reach Lenin, Stalin and others with the message of God's love.

The same with countries like Red China, Cuba. North Korea, etc. Had the Christians done there duty of reaching Mao. Castro. etc., those atrocities could have been avoided.

Interesting to note that most historians point to the conquest of Jerusalem in 1095 by the Crusaders as the worst decade of atrocities by Christians. The usually count is around 900,000 killed during that campaign (on all sides.) Yet that barely hold candle to the 17 million killed in less then a decade by atheism in the USSR, or unknown millions in China during the Moa Revolution there.

History argues against your premise.

Throughout history it has been the Catholic Church with its dominating Popes. The Catholic Church has called itself Christian, yet it does not follow the Holy Bible which is God's instruction book. Consider this, the Pope has millions of followers, but Christ Jesus had twelve and one seriously betrayed Him.

Telling innocent children they were born soiled and that an all powerful being might send them to burn forever in hell if they don't love it. That's rotten to the core and all atrocities descend from there.

Catholics not Christians.

August 14,2018.

“Bishops and other leaders of the Roman Catholic Church in Pennsylvania covered up child sexual abuse by more than 300 priests over a period of 70 years, persuading victims not to report the abuse and police officers not to investigate it, according to a report issued by a grand jury on Tuesday....”

“The report, which covered six of the state’s eight Catholic dioceses and found more than 1,000 identifiable victims, is the broadest examination yet by a government agency in the United States of child sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. There have been ten previous reports by grand juries and attorneys general in the United States...”

The worst atrocity associated with the Christian faith is the tremendous persecution suffered by my brothers and sisters in the hands of cruel intolerant people.

Our Lord and Head of the Congregation was falsely arrested, beaten and killed. His apostles and disciples taught and healed sicknesses freely, and they were also beaten and imprisoned, and the fearless Stephen was stoned to death for telling the truth.

Then began the persecution, which continued from that day to this. Jesus said that it would:

"In fact, the hour is coming when everyone who kills you will think he has offered a sacred service to God." John 16:2

In another place, Jesus said why:

“These things I command you, that you love one another. 18 If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19 If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you. 20 Keep in mind the word I said to you: A slave is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have observed my word, they will also observe yours. John 15:17-20

Christianity is the false religion in the book of Revelation called BABYLON

The Catholic Church is the mother of whores and all the Churches that came from it are her whore children.

The worst atrocity is not following the teachings of Jesus Christ and then claiming to be doing one's own selfish and hateful actions in HIS name.

Suppose someone went to your spouse or best friend, assaulted them and then claimed to be doing it at YOUR command, because they were YOUR follower. More people do the same. And then people start asking "What is the worst atrocity associated with believing in YOU?

Jesus said, "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' (See Matthew 22:37-39) He also said, "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you." (See Matthew 7:12)

And this is what he said to those who claimed so falsely to be religious and self-righteous: (See Matthew 23)

"Woe to you, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are."

The problem isn't Jesus Christ, or TRUE Christianity. There you will find a higher standard of love and compassion for others than most of us will ever reach.

The atrocity is the selfish failings of people who fall so far short of the simple commands Jesus gave us. People do all kinds of ugly, selfish, hateful and self-righteous things, in the name of their religion, their race, their government, their political party, and even their favorite sports team, or just to feel good about themselves. None of this has anything to do with Christ or being his follower.

It's always easy to find someone in a group other than your own, criticize them and be blind to one's own self-righteousness in the process. We could all do better to learn a bit more about what Jesus actually taught and to then follow it.

In my opinion the very worst thing about the Christian faith is that they refused to use physical Force against the wicked people. Jesus Christ himself showed that there is a time to get the whip out and do use some physical Force. if Christians got a little bit more assertive and when they heard somebody mocking God gave him a good punch in the nose. There would be far less people mocking God

Personally I believe the actions of those who call themselves Christian, but don't actually live Christ-like lives is the worst atrocity. All the big things can be expected. The Spanish Inquisition, the Crusades, and the like. But its really the day-to-day lives that are the real tragedy. And it is on a much larger scale than any of the big ones.

Lots of atrocities are associated (by some) with the Christian faith.

Some would say: the teachings of Christianity itself.

Some would say: collectively, all of the wars involving even one Christian.

Some would say: colonialism.

Some would say: the Nazi Holocaust.

etc.

In my opinion

the greatest single atrocity that can to a great extent reasonably be associated with Christianity

- an atrocity indisputably undertaken for primarily Christian religious reasons

is the slaughter of the Muslims of Jerusalem in the First Crusade.

However, one can also point to various atrocities that occurred in the Colonial period, particularly some of those "commanded" by certain Spanish religious officials

or to the Spanish Inquisition itself (though one would be hard-pressed, I think, to describe the entirety of the Inquisition as itself a single atrocity).

The crucifixion

23:33 When they reached the place called The Skull, they crucified him there and the two criminals also, one on the right, the other on the left.

23:34 Jesus said, 'Father, forgive them; they do not know what they are doing'. Then they cast lots to share out his clothing.

23:35 The people stayed there watching him. As for the leaders, they jeered at him. 'He saved others,' they said 'let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, the Chosen One.'

23:36 The soldiers mocked him too, and when they approached to offer vinegar

23:37 they said, 'If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself'.

23:38 Above him there was an inscription: 'This is the King of the Jews'.

According to 'secularists,' that would be holding back the tide of lethal sexual diseases through a vigorous defense of marriage, uniting the world in an unprecedented tribal integration culminating in the original 'university' system dedicated to world peace through economic equality, systematically destroying ALL true aristocracy, 'making the first last and the last first,' holding back the tide of 'drug culture' for centuries, (Greek: 'pharmakeia,' translated 'witchcraft'), securing all deadly weapons from evil hands and interdicting increasingly powerful chemicals and pollutant substances for centuries, preserving a pristine natural environment.

You see, they REALLY wanted to do all of those evil things and its was simply 'atrocious' for them every minute of every day until they finally were 'free from Christians' to do it all, including trapping themselves inside of an inescapable arms race that halted the vision of world peace and brought us the looming threat of weapons of mass destruction.

Now all they have left is Internet parrots and historical revisionists desperate to keep 'public spin' in place long enough to finish the job before the public tide drives them off the face of the earth itself into 'outer darkness,' (Matthew 8:12), and restores Christian brotherhood, peace, higher education and universal economic equality, just as GOD promises will occur.

The signs are all there that towards the end Christians will be hated, persecuted and put to death by those who are of the world. It is unclear how many this will involve but there are already many out there who would appear to be copying the Romans in inventing lies about them to justify such a thing. Never mind the past, it is the future which is the real issue. Now, what was your question? Do you mean committed BY Christians or AGAINST them? FYI genuine Christians do not murder people, they are salt and light unto the community. I am less than interested in the argument that phoney Christians did such and such a thing in the past supposedly in the name of Jesus. What Jesus actually said was "Love thy neighbor as thyself." Do you not therefore see the flaw in the argument of calling Christians murderers?

I think many of us are a bit sick of this 'Hitler was a Christian' allegation.

"My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. "?? Adolf Hitler

So there was a 'Christian' who never read the Bible? Isaiah 42: The Servant of the Lord ... “I will put my Spirit on him,and he will bring justice to the nations. 2 He will not shout or cry out,or raise his voice in the streets. 3 A bruised reed he will not break,"

Jesus never fought anyone. He was the exact opposite of a fighter. Not a bruised reed did He break. Do you also not see the flaw in the 'Jesus was a fighter' theory? ........ He wasn't. Any Christian worth their salt could have told you that so that casts serious doubt over whether a mass murderer with a callous disregard for human life could ever be considered such a thing. In fact, Jesus did the exact opposite of killing people .... He brought them back to life or healed them.

We know why many members of the LGBTQ call Christians murderers, criminals, liars, deluded or evil .... It is because they disagree with sexual immorality ... plain and simple and the hatred is mainly Christianophobic round here. Implying that Hitler might have been a Christian is just spiteful and nasty. This was just another sickening murderer who used religion as a smokescreen for their own purposes.

The perversion of the central Christian doctrines by religions who present themselves as Christians, but who reject the deity of Christ, the trinity, Christ's death and resurrection, the virgin birth, etc. That is the atrocity of the perversion of truth. But there are more. When a "Christian" group like some churches who picket funerals and spew hate and judgment come onto the scene, they are the antithesis of what Christianity should be and therefore give true Christians a bad name. And in centuries past Christian groups who murdered those who wouldn't convert were another example. Christianity has come a long way in realizing that atrocities do not win people to faith in Jesus Christ and that God did not condone these actions at all. You will know true Christians for their love for each other and most of all for Jesus Christ as their savior.

The word "associated" means connected with something and is vague. I have a suspicion that you actually mean something committed by Christians who practice the faith. The "Christian Church" as we know it today, came out of the reformation begun by Martin Luther and fostered denominational Christianity. Prior to the reformation, the only "Christian" denomination was Roman Catholicism. No "atrocities" have been committed by the Christian Church since the reformation en mass as in the Crusades or the Spanish Inquisition. There have been atrocities committed by people claiming to be Christians on a smaller scale. They are rare however and are criminal.

The consequences of that are songs like "What if god was one of us just a slob like one of us" That is blasphemy and that is what satan wants to discredit Yehovah Elohim, so that man will be confused and believe satans lies. People say God made me do it or told me to do it, that is a lie from satan, he is the one who U are listening to, because U think God is a person. YHVH GOD is the ONE and ONLY GOD and He is a GOD of love not hate. Religion is what kills us and trinity is RELIGION at its best. God in 3 persons blessed trinity is NOT TRUE. ALL OF ITS FOLLOWERS, 100% OF THEM, refuse, every day, to live by christ's NT teachings.

It's a goddam waste.
