I am an Atheist.

because we atheists dont care about any religion, so we help everyone

we know that atheists are small percentage in world population

but take

A) the percentage of help done by atheists to total number of atheists

and B) percentage of help done by religious people to total number of religious people

A is higher obviously

religious only help people from their religion, or help someone and ask them to convert to their religion

Well I'm personally Buddhist but my entire family and the majority of my friends are all Atheist. I was Atheist as well until three years ago. I think you're right in that many atheists are less prejudiced against other people because of religion than hard-core religious people are. But I disagree because the basis of most religions is charity and compassion and they are generally willing to help most people. Sometimes people misinterpret religion and believe that you may only be kind to those of your religion but that is untrue.

Show me what any athiest has done to help anybody? I don't see them making themselves useful in these forums, they are rude, ignorant, etc. At least we Christians wholeheartedly TRY to help others who have REAL problems, we don't make fun of their questions or mock them. Anybody new to Religion would be put off by the athiests, the way they act to the religious group, no respect shown whatsoever. Why don't you guys go off somewhere and talk about science or evolution and I bet a lot of Religious people would NEVER go to your forum and make snide remarks like you do to us.I can assure you, I would be one who would stay away from your forum :) I am a Christian, which is NOT a denomination, so how can I convert a Christian to my denomination?? You don't even have legitimate points in your post.

If you really want an answer, how about this:

In the end of it all, the religious AND the non-religious contribute to this society's well being. There is really no such thing as to one group has "done more, done this, done that".

The only difference I see is the MEANS as to how these groups go out there and make this world a better place.

Interesting premise, but do you have any evidence to back it up? I'd say there are good atheists and religious, bad atheists and religious, and everything in between

Habitat for Humanity is essentially religious-based, but seems to help everyone.

From http://www.habitat.org/how/factsheet.aspx

"What is Habitat for Humanity International?

Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need."

PS I know several atheists who volunteer with HFHI and don't feel they're being targeted for religious conversion.

why are Atheists so concerned to get their point over?,you would think the world was coming to an end and they want some others to be here ,so that hell isnt so lonely

where do you get your figures?

hospitals and healing were all done either by monks, nuns or holy people of different orders

the talk to their spirit guides for help

now if you dont believe then who do they ask for guidance?

also when athiests are having rampant sex,why do they shout oh god im coming?

Please be a sock puppet.

You do not speak for me.

Work or donations to charity are difficult to quantify when churches themselves count as charity, and when religions do charitable work to proselytize. Add to this the fact that atheists do not "group" their efforts in "atheist charities" very much (because too many of us have a knee-jerk resentment towards organizing at all), and it's impossible to determine who gives more money and time to truly help others.

that is absolutely false. Chrsitians who do charity work tend to help everyone. Yes, odds are they may try to convert them, but they do give equally most of the time. There are many bad things i can say about christians, but i'm not going to lie on them just because they annoy me.

Religious or atheist, as long as we're helping our fellow man I don't think it matters.

Yes, many Christian minstries help people but they have strings. You have to listen to their nonsense to get their help.
