Question:
Someone on this board said she had "proof" of the existence of god!?
2006-11-29 17:42:43 UTC
I for one am VERY excited about this! Just think, for once in human history, someone has ACTUAL proof of the existence of god.
So please, whomever you were, please provide this "evidence" or "proof" so that we can all read it.
Oh and for the record, proof is defined as;

1.evidence sufficient to establish a thing as true, or to produce belief in its truth.
2.anything serving as such evidence: What proof do you have?
3.the act of testing or making trial of anything; test; trial: to put a thing to the proof.
4.the establishment of the truth of anything; demonstration.
5.Law. (in judicial proceedings) evidence having probative weight.

So you see that quotes from an outdated book of bronze-age jewish mythology does not count. Neither does "because I say so" or pointing to trees or puppies.
So with that in mind, let's see the "proof"!

I have actual, verifiable, proof that you are in a precarious position to say that God does not exist.

1) Science and the scientific method cannot disprove the existence of something, nor, conversely, prove the non-existence of anything.

2) Many modern events, which are verifiable by eye-witness accounts, occur in which supernatural forces are at work. Explain these how you will, they positively give evidence for the existence of unseen beings which may or may not be within our ordinary realm of reality. I have personally witnessed numerous such miracles.

3) One such miracle, when I was young, depressed, and thinking of running away from home: I sat out in the car in the cold of night and just cried. I didn't know if anyone cared, and I doubted if there was a God who cared either. There was a particularly dark patch of sky, with seemingly no stars in it, so I said, "God, if you exist, and if you love me, send a shooting star right there." Then I waited. A few seconds later, I saw one of the brightest meteorites of my entire life, and it fell in exactly that patch of sky. Before I had even had time to process this mentally, a second one, equally bright, fell in exactly the same spot! God was telling that He exists AND that He loves me.

4) God has promised that any who truly seek Him will find Him. Have you looked?

5) There are several things you could do, according to the Bible, which you seem to despise, that would PROVE God is not God. In fact, anyone could do these. What's more, some have tried, and failed! God has staked His honor on these prophecies, and so if you can do just one of these two things, you will prove God wrong: 1) Rebuild the ancient city of Tyre, or 2) Live in ancient Babylon! That's all you would have to do! Just live in Babylon! You would defeat God by that simple act. I dare you to try!

(Of course, if you die trying, I guess you still wouldn't know that God exists...hmm...)

Simple answer:There is no proof.

JHWH, "Bob", The Flying Spagehtti Monster, Zeus, Odin. They are all on faith (mostly).

The closest to evidence I've ever found is where people can experience encounters with these beings during altered states of consciousness, which could just as much be a God as some sort of internal mechanism.

according to your definition of proof

"evidence sufficient to establish a thing as true, or to produce belief in its truth."

If the person convinced one other person that God existed, then it is proof.

Say the person gave a heartfelt testimonial about her personal experience with God and one other person was moved to believe. This would be by your definition proof.

Was she able to produce any belief in any of the readers of this question?

The claim is necessarily erroneous, as it can be shown that no such proof is possible. See the reference for an exhaustive discussion of the matter. Kung's conclusion matches mine; he hasn't proved the impossibility of such a proof, but I have.

read up on the principles of the A, A moron , the aim of relgion the method of science is their motto, they have conducted many activities that prove the existence of higher energies whether or not it is God who knows but they have effectivly analysed many high magick techniques using true scientific method but i wouldn't expect a narrow minded knob jockey like yourself to have investigated anything like that people like you are even stupider then the idiots who folllow organised relgion, oh no I spelt religion wrong ohh no , I'm so cut just because I type quick and don't proof read doesn't excuse your stupidity ,

I thought it was in plain English are you Asian or something and can't read our language , hey if all you could do is attack my punctuation & spelling must have made a good point, go crawl back under your rock you brainless peice of crap or learn what logic is .Did you copy your definition of evidence from the dictionary or did you come up with them by yourself F*@cken wanker

You've caught yourself with number 5, because (at least here in the U.S). Multiple credible witnesses saying the same thing counts.

Im confused. Why does a jewsish book from the bronze age not count as proof of God when a half a skull of an early human counts a perfect proof that God does not exsist.

When will people learn that it can not be proved? Its God he is not supposed to conform to human logic! It may be proved to one because of a "spiritual movement",however....but that is very personal and is only true to the individual.

i believe that god is real, but i am not religios or anything. i know that god is real because one of my father/brother's friend was in the hospital with kidney stones, and he DIED THREE TIMES he was actually dead for over ten minuets each time....this man saved and he told his family and friends that he went to heaven and saw jesus, who told him it wasn't his time to die yet. he is alive and well, and he preaches his story to many people arround our state (he might have even moved on to other states). there are many more signs and sooo much proof. it is truly sad how arrogant our world is today. look at what god created for us! because of him, we are alive today. hell is as real as the hair on your head (unless your bald) you may not see it now, but once you die, you'll see just how wrong you are.

If the existence of the universe isn't proof enough, you aren't a very logical person.

What? You must be kidding. God shows his existence clearly to everyone in the world as well as satan. Both show their power. Satan makes people do stupid things and when they come to God they completely change. What makes demons afraid of a true christian? Why can people who find God have power to cast out demons in the name of Jesus? How do u explain that? Let's say that humans let satan makes them deny the existence of God so he can destroy their lives better.

Romans 1:20- For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.
