Yes, he was a real man. Very wise, and peaceful, very loving, and kind and wonderful. One of the great philosophers of all time, a real gentlemen who concerned himself with all others above him. He was a great man, one of the greatest men of all time and it is right that even two thousand years later we celebrate his life with a day in December.

Is he the son of god. No, I don't think so.

It's important for me to state quite explicitly that it is not a matter(for me) of not believing in the existence of God. I believe that there are probably beings who may as well be called gods but I do not believe any of them was 'the creator'.

Say there was a supposed Creator, then would he not need another Creator to be called into existence, and so ad infinitum?

So if man were modelled on God, then yes, man is another 'God' in an infinite 'product line' of Gods. Not to mock religion but that takes out most of the novelty of Godhood, doesn't it?

When it comes to Christ though, I would rather hold him in due respect as a respectable, if not great man and humanitarian.

It must be pointed out that in that time such men were a scarcity, so it is natural that priests and philosophers would use the new face to uplift old beliefs...I do think the man existed, not because he is documented (for history is but the victor's brag) but because of how far spread Christ-based beliefs are today, such success would not come without someone passable as son-of-God. In the end it all comes down to wanting to believe.

Most of us do and it's not because of a sense of insecurity or weakness, no BS...

I am a non believer in the theories about god yes, but I have every reason to believe that jesus was a real person,

who gave hope and belief to a people who needed help along time ago,

but he no longer exists so people should get over it and stop trying to fix all of their issues, by believing that it is a higher being helping them through lifes troubles, when faith in themselves is all they need.

I'm a buddhist, so I neither believe nor disbelieve in god. However, I do know it is a fact that jesus lived. I believe he was a great person who helped many people, perhaps even a bodhisatva (An enlightened person who stayed behind out of an extreme sense of compassion), and that he was horribly prosecuted. How ever, I do not believe he is the son of god or avatar of god nor that he absolved our sins, we must take responsibility for our own actions.

I am sorry, but I believe in God. You didn't mention to ask those who don't believe in God only. You mentioned for serious people only. I am a deadly serious person; you probably would get scared from me if you see me personally because of that. Jesus Christ is a real Person indeed. Take it from a real serious man.

Modern biblical scholarship makes a very compelling case for the idea that Jesus was an entirely fictional character.

The Jesus Christ story is a myth saint. No proof need exist for myths, it only needs to be believed by the faithfull, and they do so blindly.

But if you would like to research this subject further here are some links.

It was a myth from day one and it started along time before Jesus. Do the research many other religions had "the sun god story." People control people by making up these outrageous lies for one reason alone to take advantage of someone who is naive.

Was there a bloke called Jesus? Perhaps.

Was there a bloke called Jesus who went around performing magic tricks? Perhaps

Was there a bloke called Jesus who went around performing actual miracles? Nope

edit: as far as Im aware none of the historical documents were written at the time he was supposedly lived and the one was that was written closest to the time has alledgedly(sp) been altered at a later date to contain references.

you talk to people and they say there was a non bible record of jesus - someone called joseph or aramatheia

theres also written records in the 1980s of aliens who did anal probes on people, first hand accounts, so

just cause someone wrote something down doesnt make it a historical fact

im open to meeting with god if he comes to talk to me

Certainly he existed and had a profound effect upon history- his life isn't really in question, the historical records are numerous.

The debate is over his teachings, his origins, etc.

I think somebody existed.......maybe the first ever hippy or something. I can't get my head round the miracles........walking on water, feeding the 5000, raising the dead etc.

I've heard reasonable explanations.......Jesus walked on water bcz there was drought and the water was only 2 inches deep.......he fed the 5000 bcz a lot of them took picnics........

Yes I think he was a real man.

Is there historical and scientific proof of Jesus?

It is interesting that when people seek historic and scientific proof of Jesus, they immediately discount the Bible as a reliable source.

If we look at the Bible simply as a historic document, it should be among the most reliable on record compared with others.

Historians routinely cite Herodotus as a key source of information. He wrote from 488 B.C. to 428 B.C. and the earliest copy of his work comes from 900 A.D. (1,300 years later). There are only eight known copies of his work.

By contrast, the New Testament of the Bible (with all its information about Jesus) was written between 40 A.D. and 100 A.D. The earliest known copy is from 130 A.D. and there are 5,000 known copies in Greek, 10,000 in Latin and 9,300 in other languages.

Still, to put to rest the notion that there is no historic and scientific proof of Jesus outside the Bible, we may look to Jewish historian Flavius Josephus and to Roman historian Carius Cornelius Tacitus - both well known and accepted.

Josephus, in the book Jewish Antiquities" wrote:

"At that time lived Jesus, a wise man, if he may be called a man; for he performed many wonderful works. He was a teacher of such men as received the truth with pleasure. . . .And when Pilate, at the instigation of the chief men among us, had condemned him to the cross, they who before had conceived an affection for him did not cease to adhere to him. For on the third day he appeared to them alive again, the divine prophets having foretold these and many other wonderful things concerning him. And the sect of the Christians, so called from him, subsists at this time" (Antiquities, Book 18, Chapter 3, Section 1).

Tacitus, in writing about accusations that Nero burned the city of Rome and blamed it on Christians, said the following:

". . .Nero procured others to be accused, and inflicted exquisite punishment upon those people, who were in abhorrence for their crimes, and were commonly known by the name of Christians. They had their denomination from Christus (Christ, dm.), who in the reign of Tibertius was put to death as a criminal by the procurator Pontius Pilate. . . .At first they were only apprehended who confessed themselves of that sect; afterwards a vast multitude discovered by them, all of which were condemned, not so much for the crime of burning the city, as for their enmity to mankind. . . ." (Tacitus, Annals, 15, 44).

if you are asking if i think he really existed ?I'd say yes.if you're asking if i think he was what history says him to be,son of God, prophet? I'd say all of the above.i believe him to be the greatest prophet of all because he tried to show us that we can be among them and not be as them.we are all who believe children of God.....just my opinion...
