I found a baby on my doorstep last night and I didn't call the police?

I know I should have but I have been trying to adopt a child for a year and it is crazy all the procedures and time it takes. I already love this baby so much. I have already given her a name. Maybe it was meant to be. It can't just be a coincidence?? What should I do? I can't bear the thought of having her taken away from me. Please help me this is a huge decision.

Call the police! It isn't your baby, you have no right to take it in without the proper paperwork and permission! Just tell the authorities you found the baby on your doorstep. If you are lucky enough, you may be able to adopt it. I do understand how long adoption takes, but you need to do the right thing.

That baby could be missing to someone else asides from person who abandoned it. Hell, someone could think you kidnapped it and you can be very well in trouble. I know you don't want that.

It was not a coincidence. You should call the police because you can go to prison for kidnapping a baby. And the baby will be put all over the news for missing baby and you will get into real trouble. Go to the police and give it to them if no one claims the baby then they will put it out for adoption and you can adopt it. If you however choose to keep the baby and give the baby to the police days later you will have no chance of adopting that baby of no one claims it and you will go to prison for kidnapping and you will get fined.

If she was left on your doorstep the birth child most likely does not want her. So you might be able to adopt her. You still need to call the police though. She will not be able to do anything if you don't because legally, she doesn't exist. I hope i helped. Good luck.

You should call someone and find out where the parents are and who it is, you might be able to keep it anyway :-)

Call your lawyer right away, if you don't have one, Take it to the police, then call a lawyer ( if you were going to adopt then you have money for a lawyer), seek out a psychologist, and pray that the whole thing ends without charges. best wishes
