I see this referened in literature. What exactly is "the peace of God"? Would it be peace that God grants his followers? Or peace that you have an afterlife? Or what does it refer to?

It's assurance, peace, calm, in the face of anything. A Christian has an eternal view of things. The bible says to ask for the peace of God, and He gives it liberally. So, when things come my way that are disturbing, I pray about them, and I don't have to be upset anymore. I may choose to worry about something, but I don't have to worry about it. The more you come to know the character of God, the more you can trust Him with the outcome of situations. That peace comes on your heart and you can wait to see how He is going to work it out for you, instead of not being able to sleep at night, or calling up all your friends and asking them what to do. You just give it to God and thank Him, and wait for the outcome. And go on with your life!

It cannot be compared to anything any of us have ever seen, or known; it is life as life really is, beneath these shadows we cast as separate "selves", thinking we are isolated; it is what awaits our awakening, yet waits not, for God knows we awoke in the same flash in which we were created; it is found in these words:

"Nothing real can be threatened.

Nothing unreal exists.

Herein lies the peace of God."

Its the peace which passes all understanding.

Its the peace which God gives to all who come to Him in faith, through Jesus Christ.

Nine years ago, I lost my 12 year old son to a tragic accident.

The most devasting time of my life, but I felt God's peace upon me. It is indeed that peace which passes all understanding, which keeps our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

the peace it refers to, is in this life. its knowing that God is in control of everything even when you're going through some bad times. while everyone panics, you will have peace of mind because u know that everything is ultimately in God's hands

"the peace of god" is the unconcern for the people who burn in hell do to the rules that he himself made when had he really loved them he could have chosen to make them non-existent but nothing disturbs god's peace as those he only claims to love are tortured for all eternity in Hell.

That's the only thing I can think it could possibly mean.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus

Theres several ways to look at "the Peace of God" Theres

imward peace, the state of soul of that believer who, having entered into peace with God through faith in Christ, has also committed to God through prayer and supplication with thanksgiving all his anxieties ; Luke 7:50; Philippians 4:6.

The second is the Peace we obtain through God the Holy Ghost.

In John 14:26-27 Jesus says concerning the Holy Spirit; But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

The third to me is Assurance of Salvation.

You see all the falsehoods of Christianity, those who profess to be christians, and those without Christianity, have one thing in common. They believe, deny and teach there is “No Assurance of Salvation.” There is no way of knowing when they die, where they will spend eternity?

These doctrines are as Brother Paul described “another gospel.” Which introduce those who get’s involved to a system of works, in the hope of “earning” Salvation.

At the same time, denying, one of the greatest Central Themes of the Scriptures “Assurance of Salvation.”

Meaning, You can know for “Sure!” It’s the “Absolute Assurance” in the Spiritual Inspiration of God’s Word, where you will or can spend eternity.

Brother Paul shows us this Assurance of Salvation in Ephesians 2:8-9; For by “grace” are you saved (presently) through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of God; Not of works, lest any man should boast.

In Ephesians 2:1 -2 Brother Paul says to the Church of Ephesus; And you hath he quickened (given life to) who were (past-tense) dead in trespasses and sins:

Wherein in time past (days of yesterday) ye walked according to the course (perpetuity) of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, (Satan) the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Another is Romans 8:1 where Paul writes; There is therefore “now” no condemnation to them which are “in” Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Here Brother Paul is speaking of our Christian walk, in the present world.

Notice there is “Now” (at the present moment) no condemnation to them, which are “in Christ” who walks (presently in this world) not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

The use of the word condemnation is an interesting one coming from the original. It carries the meaning – to hold in occupancy:- possess, which in the English posses means “to have” in some form or another.

Here, what Brother Paul is referring to, in the use of the word condemnation, is the sinful nature, we all posses. It’s showing the extreme degrees, the condition of sin, has taken control. Which brings me to one of the English definition for condemnation, which mean’s “to make a judicial pronouncement stating what punishment has been imposed on a person found guilty of a crime, especially in the case of a heavy penalty or a death sentence.”

This should fill all believers and make them want to shout for joy! For, “We” who are in Christ, (which is the key) are “Now” (at this present moment) in “No” condemnation; there is “No” penalty or sentence of eternal death, ahead of us.

The key to this “Assurance” is the phrase “In Christ.” In, in the English is defined of its many uses, one is “indicates that something happens or is situated somewhere.” When you see this phrases “In Christ” in Scriptures, picture a Book, and you as a piece of paper placed inside this book; wherever the Book goes, you go with it.

For in Christ, according to the Scriptures is “our” Present Position of Salvation.

In Ephesians 2:4-6 Brother Paul writes; But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were (past-tense) dead in sins, hath quickened us (given life presently) together (jointly) with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

And hath raised “us” up together, and made us sit together (present-tense) in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

In Christ; Romans 8:2 says; For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

In Christ: Romans 8:39 says; Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

In Christ; Romans 12:5 says; So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

In Christ; 2 Corinthians 5:17 says; Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

One of the greatest verses of the Bible is the words of Jesus himself, in John 3:16. It is so simple a child can understand! So why is it questioned so much?

Here Jesus says; For God so loved the world (You) that he gave his only begotten (Unique) son (The Gift) that whosoever (You) believeth (Faith) in him (Jesus) should not perish (Grace) but have everlasting (Eternal) life.
