There is a GREAT DANGER when one uses an absolute number, such as 100%, to make a sweeping statement. You, of all people should know this, since I figure that you are an educated person.

If you would take the time to verify some of my previous answers surrounding this topic, I have reasoned out that people become Atheists because of DISILLUSIONMENT and DISAPPOINT from the religion of their fathers... or the organized church that they were born into.

THAT is a fact since I speak from personal experience as a Free Thinker... For I, too, considered myself to be an Atheist at least for a day or two during my lifetime.

Now that automatically makes your absolute number drop a notch or two somewhat, don't you agree??

Peace be with you!

Let me answer this one before that one...

Christians have heard a lot of propaganda from so-called 'ex-atheists', most of whom were nothing of the sort. They prance around churches claiming to have become an atheist to follow a hedonistic lifestly and to avoid persecution in the afterlife, before discovering the Lord.

This humiliating parade is necessary to indoctrinate Christians that their religion is the only way to live a moral, virtuous life. If enough Christians can see that some people turn to atheism to _increase_ the morality of their existence, they are afraid churchgoers will leave the Church in flocks.

So they lie. Like they always have.

Simple, an atheist has a firm faith that there is nothing else out there but what can be seen, touched and quantified. They see death as THE END. Christians are afraid of that end and have placed a firm belief that there is something else there besides the physical. It is not that either side is wrong it just neither can understand the others argument. In the end faith blinds us all

I don't think they're right on point at all. I became christian because the big bang theory was so full of holes, just doesn't make any sense at all. When you compare the concept of creation -vs- the big bang, well, it's just too ludicrous to seriously consider the big bang a viable option. I realized there has to be "something" to begin with. Everything needs a beginning, you can't evolve from something that doesn't exist. God is the only logical explanation.

Its different for everyone. My brother became an atheist because he thinks his life is too hard for a God to truly exist. The reasons Atheists are just as different as the reasons why Christians are Christians
2006-07-07 11:13:36 UTC
I don't think all Christians are wrong about why Atheists became Atheists... just like I don't think there is a single, simple reason why all Atheists are/became Atheists. Your question puts Christians in a "box" the same way that you don't like it when Christians but you in a "box."
2006-07-07 11:16:01 UTC
I guess because Atheists are 100% wrong about what Christians believe are the reasons why Atheists became Atheists.

It's a joint effort!

Chrisitains (and ALL religions) are brainwashed to fear and hate anyone who believes differently than they do. This is all simple economics as religion is a product (as well as a system of control) gotta have that brand loyalty! Now imagine someone who refuses to buy the product you believe in. Oh the fear!!

Therefore when presented with athiests they react accordingly.

Many athiests do not help the situation, baiting and ridiculing christians like they do.

PS I am niether Athiest (used to be), nor Christian (f-that).

First, I don't think it's accurate when you say that atheists are right on point about why Christians are Christians. You just THINK you've got it right because that's your opinion.

Second, why do you care what others think about your beliefs? If you are secure in what you believe, why do you need the approval or understanding of people who believe something very different?
2006-07-07 11:14:14 UTC
Well, if you want to make broad generalizations, go ahead. The problem is, we don't care why athiests became or are athiests. All we want is for them to get the enjoyment we do from a personal relationship with God or whatever higher power people worship. This is also the reason I am a Christian, I enjoy a personal relationship with God. I don't get that by not believing in Him.
2006-07-07 11:14:00 UTC
Because christians are wholly arrogant, and as with their own religious beliefs, can not question what they've "learned" about atheists.

In essence, if they start understanding that atheists are no different then themselves (perhaps more logical and sensible though), they won't be able to blame the worlds problems on them.

Also, most atheists used to be theists. I know I used to be.

One cannot search for the truth if one does not maintain an open mind. The major problem with atheism is that it closes the mind to the possibility of the existence of God. Agnosticism at least remains open. When one closes one's mind, one is enclosing oneself in an artificial world, the world of the "ego". Not all reality is inside the mind. If we are to be truly human, then we must remain open to the truth. Even if that truth is something that we do not necessarily want to hear.

Good luck in your search!

Wait a second here, you're asking why Christians are deluded about the rest of the non-Christian world? That is one hell of a silly question.

Well, depends what you mean by Christians. There are thousands of different kinds of us, and not all of us disagree with atheists. I am a Christian Atheist myself.

In order to do an efficient analytical study, I need the birthyears of all atheists. No, I'm not into astrology.
2006-07-07 11:13:30 UTC
The answer is simple and logical. Christians are Christians because they have FAITH. Atheists are atheists because they lack FAITH.

Just an interesting fact. A man who gave lie detector test said that every time, EVERY TIME some one said they did not believe in God on his lie detector it showed they were lying.

Why do atheists want to discuss spiritual things to do with God when they don't believe in the spiritual things of God? How can you discuss what you don't perceive to be truth to begin with?
2006-07-07 11:22:42 UTC
...It takes MORE faith to be an atheist than to be a Christian...To Be An Atheist, One Must Believe... THAT GOD DOES NOT EXIST...I too was once an atheist...
2006-07-07 11:15:24 UTC
Because Christians are blinded by their own beliefs.

I dunno. But it seems very strange to me that people who claim religion doesn't make sense follow a discipline or philosophy that absolutely can never be proven. That smacks of hipocrisy.
