Question:
What does the Number of the Beast mean? The number is 666, in Revelation 13, V 18.?

I believe that it means: 'The Latin Kingdom.' In Greek, as well as in Hebrew, letters have a numerical meaning. 'Lateinos' is Greek. Its full number, when added together, is 666. The 'Latin Kingdom' well describes the Catholic Church. It is strongest in the Latin countries: Italy, Spain, Portugal, and in Latin America. It was an Empire for centuries-with real political power.

The Beast in Revelation likely referred to the Roman Emperor Nero.

In Hebrew, letters are also used as numbers; the figure 666 is reached by adding up the numerical values of the Hebrew letters "Qsr Nrwn", which transliterates the Greek "Kaisar Neron" ("Emperor Nero"):

Q = 100

S = 60

R = 200

N = 50

R = 200

W = 6

N = 50

Total:666

So it's a kind of code using magical numerology called gematria, perhaps to conceal the real message from the Romans.

The "mark of the Beast" seems to be some sort of passport in the form of a tattoo for those who want to trade within the Roman Empire, or maybe some kind of proof that someone is part of the Empire and entitled to trade within it. It sounds like some kind of branding.

This verse has been subject to much speculation and incorrect interpretation because it tells us so little. It says that the anti-Christ’s number is the number of a man, and that his number is 600 and 60 and 6, which may be different from 666. We don’t know.

What we do know is that both Biblical languages (Hebrew and Greek) gave numerical values to the letters of their alphabets to compensate for their lack of a direct numbering system. The Romans used Roman Numerals, assigning numerical values to a few letters, and today much of the world uses Hindu-Arabic Numerals, value specific symbols originally developed in the 2nd century BC but not widely used until several hundred years later.

If (and it’s a big if) the numbers six hundred, sixty, and six, are supposed to signify a name, then the numerical value of the anti-Christ’s name would probably have to equal that amount in its Greek form, Greek being the language of the Revelation.

I don’t think it makes sense to devise a numerical equivalent for the letters of the English alphabet to figure this out because, outside of certain pagan religious practices, there’s no accepted valuing system for doing so. We’ve always used Arabic numerals and so haven’t assigned numerical equivalents to the letters in our alphabet like the Hebrews, Greeks and Romans did.

Some think that the number might apply to something other than his name, his birthday for instance, or a title of some sort. It could also be a registration number, like the American Social Security number, or any one of the other numbers by which we’re known in various aspects of our lives.

The big qualifier for the verse is the phrase “let him who has understanding.” To me that disqualifies most of us from even guessing. It seems that a person would have to have an understanding of the practice of gematria, the calculation of the numerical equivalence of letters, words, or phrases, to come up with the answer.

Daniel 12:4 tells us that in the latter days knowledge will increase. That means that pretty soon someone will crack this code. Personally, I think its unlikely that this will happen before the church disappears.

The number 666 is three 6's.

The number 7 means completeness of God's creation. One less than 7 is 6, so the number 6 represents incompleteness or God's creation. 6 days do not include the Sabbath Day, which is to be holy.

The significance of three 6s relates to the three persons of the Trinity, but in this case, the three 6s imply a "trinity" in which the Sabbath Day is excluded.

The beast, who is symbolized by the number 666, claims to be godly by leaves out what is truly holy.

In Mystical number in Judaism you first ad all the numbers 6+6+6= 18, you then use the number 1 in relation to the Aleph Bet, 1 is A or Aleph and 8 is H or Het, it is written that the number stands for the man s name, we then have A H, standing for Adolph Hitler, the Mark is a Swastika, bearing in mind that hand and arm is the same word in Latin, worn on the armband and also on the cap badge.

"This number at times represents imperfection. The number of “the wild beast” is 666 and is called “a man’s number,” indicating that it has to do with imperfect, fallen man, and it seems to symbolize the imperfection of that which is represented by “the wild beast.” The number six being emphasized to a third degree (the six appearing in the position of units, tens, and hundreds) therefore highlights the imperfection and deficiency of that which the beast represents, or pictures.—Re 13:18." - Insight on the Scriptures, Vol 2, p 512.

"Six, as a number, is associated with Jehovah’s enemies. A Philistine man of the Rephaim was of “extraordinary size,” and his “fingers and toes were in sixes.” (1 Chronicles 20:6) King Nebuchadnezzar erected a golden image 6 cubits in breadth and 60 cubits high, to unify his political officials in one worship. When God’s servants refused to worship the image of gold, the king had them thrown into a fiery furnace. (Daniel 3:1-23) The number six falls short of seven, which stands for completeness from God’s standpoint. Therefore, a triple six represents gross imperfection." - Revelation-Its Grand Climax at Hand, p 196.

Many of the numbers in the Bible have deeper significance:

6 – Represents the worship of man, and is the number of man, signifying his rebellion, imperfection, works, and disobedience. It is used 273 times in the Bible, including its derivatives (e.g., sixth) and another 91 times as “threescore” or “60.” Man was created on the sixth day (Genesis 1:26, 31). See also Exodus 31:15 and Daniel 3:1.

The number is especially significant in the book Revelation, as “666” identifies the beast. “Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six” (Revelation 13:18).

1 – Represents absolute singleness and unity (Ephesians 4:4–6; John 17:21, 22.)

2 – Represents the truth of God’s Word, for example, the law and prophets (John 1:45), two or three witnesses (2 Corinthians 13:1), and a sword with two edges (Hebrews 4:12). See Mark 6:7 and Revelation 11:3. It is also used 21 times in the books of Daniel and Revelation.

3 – Represents the Godhead / Trinity. The angels cry “Holy” three times to the triune God (Isaiah 6:3). See also Matthew 28:19 and 1 John 5:7, 8.

4 – Represents universal truth, as in the four directions (north, south, east, west) and the four winds (Matthew 24:31; Revelation 7:1; Revelation 20:8). In acts 10:11, a sheet with four corners symbolizes the gospel going to all the gentiles.

5 – Represents teaching. First, there are the five books of Moses. Second, Jesus taught about the five wise virgins and used five barley loaves used to feed the 5,000.

7 – Represents perfection, and is the sign of God, divine worship, completions, obedience, and rest. The “prince” of Bible numbers, it is used 562 times, including its derivatives (e.g., seventh, sevens). (See Genesis 2:1–4, Psalm 119:164, and Exodus 20:8–11 for just a few of the examples.)

The number seven is also the most common in biblical prophecy, occurring 42 times in Daniel and Revelation alone. In Revelation there are seven churches, seven spirits, seven golden candlesticks, seven stars, seven lamps, seven seals, seven horns, seven eyes, seven angels, seven trumpets, seven thunders, seven thousand slain in a great earthquake, seven heads, seven crowns, seven last plagues, seven golden vials, seven mountains, and seven kings.

10 – represents law and restoration. Of course, this includes the Ten Commandments found in Exodus 20. See also Matthew 25:1 (ten virgins); Luke 17:17 (ten lepers); Luke 15:8 (healing, ten silver coins).

12 – Represents the church and God’s authority. Jesus had 12 disciples, and there were 12 tribes of Israel. In Revelation 12:1, the 24 elders and 144,000 are multiples of 12. The New Jerusalem city has12 foundations, 12 gates 12 thousand furlongs, a tree with 12 kinds of fruit 12 times a year eaten by 12 times 12,000 or the 144,000. (See Revelation 21.)

40 – Represents a generation and times of testing. It rained for 40 days during the flood. Moses spent 40 years in the desert, as did the children of Israel. Jesus fasted for 40 days.

50 – represents power and celebration. The Jubilee came after the 49th year (Leviticus 25:10), and Pentecost occurred 50 days after Christ’s resurrection (Acts 2).

70 – Represents human leadership and judgment. Moses appointed 70 elders (Exodus 24:1); The Sanhedrin was made up of 70 men. Jesus chose 70 disciples (Luke 10:1). Jesus told Peter to forgive 70 times 7.

With love in Christ.

The number 666 is a deception by those men who control the church The actual number is; six hundred threescore and six

And it is speaking of the church, the temple built by Solomon and the throne of Satan, built with Mammon, a sign of the devil and his temptations.

14 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold,

The real political power was the formation of religions, on which the catholic church spread it's influence to the 7 mountains (7 contenants) of the world, during the times of the 10 kingdoms

...and 3 sixes give us 18 and the 1st and 8th letters of the alphabet give us A.H. the initials of Adolf Hitler and.....

But then we can play around with any numbers every which way but loose and come up with some apparent 'meaning'.

No, that's all a bunch of malarkey. Anti-Catholic propaganda.

The number 666 does not mean the "latin kingdom" as you suggest. Nor does it represent the Catholic Church in anyway.

If you're right, it could also represent the European Union.
