what happens when a book slips out of your hand?it falls to the floor right?do you know why...because of gravity. You believe in gravity, but can you see it?You believe you have thoughts but can you see it?you believe you have a mind but can you see it?Why then do you want to see a physical God before you believe He exists?

for (those who said that gravity has evidence to back it up and that god doesn't) I SAY THAT U WANT EVIDENCE OF GOD JUST LOOK AROUND THE EARTH THE UNIVERSE THE SEA THE OCEAN,WHO DO U THINK MADE THAT NOTHING. EVEN GRAVITY IS EVIDENCE OF A CREATER.

THINGS DON'T JUST EXIST THEY ARE MADE

YES THERE WAS EVOLUTION I DIDN'T DENY THAT BUT THERE MUST BE A CREATOR FOR THE ORGANISMS THAT WILL EVOLVE IF NOT UR JUST LIEING TO URSELVES CUZ THEN EVOLUTION WON'T EXIST WITHOUT ORGANISMS BEING CREATED 2 START WITH.

AND PLEASE CUT THAT BIG BANG ABOUT BEING THE CREATOR CRAP. THERE MUST BE A GOD FOR THAT BIG BANG 2 BANG AND FOR THE ENERGY OF THE BIG BANG 2 EXIST

ALL I GOTTA SAY PEOPLE WHO DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD ARE JUST MAKING FUN OF THEMSELVES

Gravity is not visible, however it is measurable. As another example oxygen is a gas, it is not visible, but you breath it in.

I don't "believe" I have thoughts, I know I do, again they are measurable trough an EEG.

Well, I can see my mind on an X-Ray film that should be prove enough to every one that its there.

Why do I want to see a God before I believe? Simple- so I can kick his *** for all the "good" he is allowing to happen in this world!

If there would be a god, then why does he not help starving children in any part of this world. Why do they have to suffer for their parents sins, because the mother was not married to the father?!

If there is a God, then why do humans fight so many religious wars??

As a good he should not allow genocide to happen, after all we are his children right? Then explain away why he is not stopping us!

I rather believe in Science, that can be proven every step of the way, then some made up person!

The bible is nothing more then another fairy tale book, just like the brother Grimm's stories.

What a crappy argument. Seriously, I hope you are no older than 12 years old because you just embarrassed yourself.

Gravity can be measured. It's affects can be seen from the falling of a rain drop to the motion of the planets. It can be used to predict events in the future, and validate events in the past. It can be described using mathematics, and fits in with nearly all observed phenomenon and other scientific theories.

If I didn't have a mind I wouldn't be able to comprehend your question. DUH!

If I didn't have thoughts I wouldn't be able to formulate a response to this question. DUH!

God can not be seen, heard, tasted, felt, or smelt. God can not be predicited, summarized, or quantified. God can not be interacted with in any meaningful or objective manner. For all intents and purposes god does not exist, so why assume anything other?

The moment you can show ANY evidence for god, that can ONLY be explained with the existence of a god, I will consider it possible.

Those two are completely different. Its less of God and more of intelligent design. Though we can't see gravity, we know it exists because of the strict law that it follows (there are no exceptions). With God, its much more vague about what is a result of God and what is a result of other forces influencing it.

that is a really good point that you make. this is a touchy topic for sure. i do believe in god, but i do not believe in the bible/jesus/mary etc. let me explain. i am here...why? that will be a mystery until i die but because i am here i believe i have a creator-and to me that is god. however, it is hard for me to believe in something (jesus, apostles etc) because my parents told me too and my teacher told me if i didnt that i would go to hell. if the day comes when i experience those things-an epiphany have you- then i will believe. until that day comes, i am content believing what i already believe. and i dont think my god would send me to hell because i have a hard time excepting the other stories. think about the thousands of religions out there- what makes any one persons right? its a tough one..

I don't worship gravity, I accept it. If one day we find out that it is something completely different, I will accept that aswell. I have a mind and I know this because I can THINK for myself, therefore proving it. God is the only thing that doesn't make sense. even if he did exist, I wouldn't worship someone that will send me to hell for not wanting to. what a tyrant!

Do you believe in a teapot in orbit around the Earth? prove it does not exist.

Your argument has been done. If there is a being who created everything, who created him?

The book falls to the earth because of gravity, evidenced in everything in the universe. It is inevitable, just like the universe is, it didn't need a magic man to switch it on.

people who dont believe in god is not because we "cant" see "him" is because of the hypocresy mindless promises and lies that "god" promotes not because he cant be seen and also to "love coldplay hate miley" where did god come from? oh wait! he just popped out of nowhere... and then he created everything else...really sometimes i just cant believe how annoying religious people are

Gravity is a mathematical constant that has been proven by countless scientists.

It's the same with radio waves, light waves, UV rays, x-rays, etc. We can't see them, but we know they're there because of experiments that have proven their existence.

No such claim can be made for a god.

because gravity is proven science, god is a fairy tale the adults created now answer this why do people ask stupid questions

You can't "believe" in gravity, gravity is science, and science is truth.
2008-08-25 16:57:24 UTC
I agree, every "invisible" force that you mentioned (but God) has evidence to back it up, until somehow I'm 100% sure that God exists, I'll be in doubt.
2008-08-25 16:57:29 UTC
Er...

I can see gravity. You just proved that by illustrating the "book falling to the floor" scenario.

And I experience my thoughts, otherwise they would not be "thoughts". QED.

Your analogies need work.
2008-08-25 16:57:27 UTC
well, what has God done that anybody has physically seen?

we don't see gravity but we see its effect

we don't see wind but we feel it

we don't see air but we breathe

for God can we see, touch, feel anything? Until then...

Ignore all the moronic responses, I'm glad you posted this :)

I believe in God.

Approximately 2500 prophecies appear in the pages of the Bible, about 2000 of which already have been fulfilled to the letter-no errors..

the remaining 500 will probably be fullfilled in our lifetime

B/c so many people have theories about who jesus christ was.... i believe he was just a man....no more. If you read the bible, it says god pix favorites, gays are shunned....yet god is suppose to love everybody equally..... it's the same as any man who comes out deaming himself holy.

Those things can be PROVEN.

They can be MEASURED.

There is EVIDENCE.

As for your particular deity, and for all the other deities as well, there are no such things at all. Therefore, I disbelieve.
