To be a Christian means to be christ like. I try to be a christian & I find myself falling short daily. A christian is not perfect but seeking to become more like Jesus Christ everyday. Over time you grow in spirit & your thinking gets closer to the way God thinks. This takes a lifetime! Go to this website for more info!

We shall proceed now to see 'Christianity' in the Bible. This may sound somewhat strange, because one may ask: since the Bible is the Holy Book of Christians, what else except Christianity will we see in it? Our discussion on Christianity will be a little different. Christians know very well about Christianity, and have an emotional attachment to it. So, we shall not go into details. But we would make an attempt to analyse objectively certain puzzling and enigmatic points regarding Christianity. These points need our attention, as generally they are not clearly understood.

Muslims feel that the love for God and love for Jesus is as much their right as those of Christians. One must remember that no Muslim is a Muslim if he does not believe in Jesus. Both Muslims and Christians have a common heritage, and both should benefit from it. This is the reason why these points need special attention.

THE NAME:

(a) The name 'Christianity'- Is it really a valid name? If so, where is it recorded? In other words, where is its identity certificate?

(b) Who has given the name? Or, who is the certifying authority?

The name 'Christian' was used for the first time in Antioch, as we read in the Bible: Acts (11:25-26):

“Then departed Barnabas to seek Saul: and when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And It came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.”

Who had given this name? Neither God nor Jesus.

We can mention the following points concerning the name 'Christianity':

1. The name does not bear the authority from God or from Jesus.

2. It was given by Jews and Pagans in Antioch (a city in the then Roman Empire), i.e., by foes rather than by friends.

3. The name was given after Jesus had left this world.

4. The name was used derogatorily, as determined by historians.

One may contend, What is there in a name? The name does not matter. This may not be a valid argument, but still for the sake of argument, let us then proceed to look for its meaning.

ITS MEANING:

The word 'Christianity' does not carry any meaning in it. It is a word for identification, derived after 'Christ' (like 'Buddhism' took its name from Buddha). Then the next question would be, 'What is the definition of Christianity?'

Now we have a problem.

- One may say that a Christian is one who believes in Jesus Christ. We Muslims also believe in him (it is an article of faith to believe in him). So, we can also be called Christians.

- One may say that a Christian is one who follows the teachings of Jesus Christ. We Muslims claim that we follow him more than those who call themselves Christians. Then we are rather better Christians.

- One may say that a Christian is one who worships Jesus Christ. But we do not agree to this definition. Why? Simply because Jesus never claimed: 'I am God and you worship me', or 'I am co-equal and co-eternal with God', or 'you will enter the Kingdom of heaven if you believe in my blood sacrifice'. Not once did he utter any such statement. Jesus certainly would not use vague language to explain this vital and highly important matter, or leave it to the people's own imagination and interpretation.

Then what was he teaching? What was the essence of his mission?

yes...because I studied all the other religions and found them lacking when it came down to their gods not being able to answer prayer..and the bible can be applied to everything you need help in understanding..if you read the New King James...the others leave things out or add to them saying it's the same as the original one.

Christians aren't perfect and a real one would never say they were.they just have a personal relationship with God ,through their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior..lead by the Holy Spirit. They know who they are and also that they are still human and make mistakes....others just can't understand that and make it out to be that they are something they are not..that's all.Plus so many are "offended" when it comes to God and His ways,so most Christians don't share with others anymore.. they just live the way God tells them to.Nothing wrong with not lying,steal,cheating,killing..and ALL our laws are based on the 10 Commandments !!

If you're not "touched" when you read it..maybe you need to re read it..front to back...and have an open mind..Most people trust the media and it tell lies all the time.yet try to tell them what the bible says and they freak out.Say that it's offensive or the funniest one "hatered".If they took the time to read a bible they would see how foolish it is to say its either of those.God tells us to "hate the SIN (actions) yet love the sinner( another human like us who makes mistakes)

If you can't read or feel like picking up a bible,in fear of being perscuted by everyone..then you can find them on CD or cassstte tape in book stores or online

funny how they say Christians are narrow minded, judge mental & intolerant..yet they do the same things and claim they are whatever their religion is...lol

I am not a Christian because I do not believe in religion. I also don't believe in the Bible because there are too many contradictions and things that have been proven wrong by science. Maybe if Christians did not take it so literally and just used it as a guide then I would have more respect for their religion.

I am a christian because a few people cared about me enough to make sure that i was introduced to god. He loves me and takes care of me...even when i feel alone. He has answers to all of life's questions and even gave us an instruction manual in the bible. Any question you may have on morals or history can be answered there. You can even read what is going to happen in the future in the bible. You know the biggest reason that i am a christian, though, is because god loved me enough that he sacrificed his own son for both me and you and everyone else in this world whether they believe it or not...so that each and every one of us could be given a new beginning. So that we could all give up the bad things that we have done in our lives and have him wash away our guilt and our hurt and let us start over. And all we have to do to be washed clean by his love is to say i believe in u god and in jesus christ your son and that he died for me. Sure you have to make a conscious effort to not do the bad things you used to do..and sure you will sometimes...(ok a lot of times) mess up...but as long as you are really trying to live by gods standards...which don't really ask a lot of you...just obvious morality...then you are automatically forgiven for your slip-ups. God knows that we are not perfect...yet he loves us and accepts us any way..even in times when we don't always accept him. It hurts him that so many don't believe...and that so many don't know about how much he loves them...but i do...even though i do make a lot of mistakes...and i know he loves me too.

I am a Christian for 2 reasons. First and foremost, I do not want to go to hell. Secondly, Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so. John 16:3, For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever should believe in Him should not parish(in hell), but have everlasting life(in God, Jesus). John 10:10, Jesus is the giver of abundant life. I Corinthians 13:8a, Love never fails.

I am a Christian. I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, and I am grateful that he died on the cross for us, to forgive our sins, so that we may have eternal life. Not all people`that say they are Christians are, because one goes to church, it doesn't make you a Christian, just as sitting in your garage all day doesn't make you a car. I have been blessed personally. I believe in God and the power of prayer. I have witnessed miracles. I have a testimony. My heart goes out to all non-believers. I pray for your salvation.

Been there, done that. I wanted personal, intimate interaction with God. My pastor told me to just forget it, read the Bible, and that my ideas were dangerously close to occultism. I eventually got into reading and practicing books on Wicca and developed personal, intimate interactions with a few ancient gods and goddesses. Im much happier now than just living off of dogma.

no I'm not

why?

1-christens are not united,

some of them believe that Jesus is the god

and some believe that Jesus is a son of god

2-both is not true and not logical

WHY?

1-cause the god not weak so that no body can hurt him but he could do.

2-if Jesus was the god,how he couldn't protect himself from people he created by his hand?

2-if Jesus was a son of god the Jesus is a god too ,so how god didn't protect his son?

3-they claim that Jesus is a god and he died on the cross,so if he was a god and the god died in the cross, whom created us after his death?

4- they claim that Jesus died on the cross for our sines,so we could go to heaven,so if that was true then all the evil people after Jesus death will go to heaven?

serial killers, thief, people who raped women and children will go to heaven cause Jesus died for our sine?,of course not.so if Jesus died for our sine why do christens believe that there is a hell?

I'm sorry if my words offend any one but I'm sorry that doesn't make seance to me and it's not logical at all.

so what do you think?

It's not logically possible for a god to exist, therefore all religions are invented by humans for their own purposes, and I have no need of them.

i believe in God, i haven't choose to be christian myself, because my family are orthodox and all my country is orthodox so when i was born i was christened, but i believe that there is god out there and he sees all we do, but i do not really follow all the rules that they want us to follow, my main rule is not to do evil and be as kind as possible with everyone in the world, sorry for the mistakes in my English.

ALSO I WOULD LIKE TO ADD THAT I BELIEVE THAT ALL RELIGIONS IN THE WORLD LEAD US TO ONE AND THE SAME GOD. GOD IS ONE FOR US, THE ONLY THING IS THAT AS WE ARE DIFFERENT NATIONS WITH DIFFERENT HISTORY AND CULTURE WE ALL HAVE GONE OUR OWN WAYS TO REACH GOD AND HAVE GIVEN HIM DIFFERENT NAMES, MAY IT BE GOD(FATHER), BUDA, ALLAH OR ANOTHER ALL THESE ARE THE NAMES OF ONE GOD AND THE THING IS THAT ALL THE RELIGIONS INCLUDE ONE MAIN TEACHING THAT IS "NOT TO DO EVIL, NOT TO KILL, JUST BE KIND."

I want to be ME.
