Question:
Why do modern western women still follow patriarchal religions?

I'm asking from the perspective of women in western civilization who predominately follow a judaeochristian religion. My motivation is that with sexual equality in the western world being the rule rather than the exception it would seem women would still feel subjugated to the male dominated judaeochristian religions. Where is the dissent among women?

I don't respect any religion that doesn't respect me. So, I have no respect for any of the Abrahamic religions, and many of the eastern ones too. Not my first reason for atheism, but in my top 5.

As a modern western woman who actively participates in a patriarchal religion, I would submit that though men and women have equal rights and equal intellects, they are still unique beings. They have different strengths which complement each other. I truly belive that neither the man nor the woman is complete without the other. That is a concept that is extremely difficult to grasp for anyone (especially a modern western woman) who is not happily married. There is a give and take. While the men may lead the church, the woman are in many ways the lifeblood of it. Men worry about the details, the women worry about the doing. Both are important. It is a cooperative effort that keeps the church alive.

And there is always dissent among women. Always, there are women who do not feel comfortable in a patriarchal church. I would submit that it is because they are not comfortable with their womanhood. For some reason they feel that they are inferior or subservient to the men. That is simply not the case. The leader of my church -- a worldwide patriarchal Chirstian religion -- often praises women for all they do and tells the whole church how women are to be honored for the mothers, wives, daughters that they are. For an example of his views on women see the article referenced below...

I do admit that religions has help to form our cultural identity and define social harmony standards, but now, religion is not as black and white as it was before, as its power and influences on the population has seen some major changes to respect the more powerful political entities (mainly the merchant class). Religions has play a dominant role in the development of the western civilization, but she is not alone anymore, and has lost power since the french revolution.

So all in all, religions were defining our world before, but todays the world is defining religions more and more everyday. This is quite normal to leave place for women to compete in the market place, so to increase economic outputs, whitout this economic contribution the merchant class (old term for the new), would have kept them inside the house. Women still thinks that they were responsible for their emancipation, but it was far from the truth, they have been let to make this happen, thats is...

Your question is amazingly thrilling and one that has been addressed many circumstances in my homestead on the grounds that i replaced into born right into a Christian kin and my husband is Muslim. We do have numerous mutual believes yet there are a number of stark ameliorations rather interior the way women individuals are taken care of interior the non secular communicate board or only in on a daily basis existence. mutually as i'm advised that "it fairly is protecting and honoring the girls individuals" I fairly do not see it that, and it fairly is a condescending way of protecting of the girls folk in line. yet, i'm not area of this so I fairly have been advised that I only don't understand. greater condescending attitude. the actually human beings interior the struggles are those that could desire to make the replace. unhappy yet genuine. it rather is been that way for a while and could proceed. replace comes very slowly too. (rather while managing men!) those women individuals have my help tho. I now not flow to church by way of fact of all of the politics there. i understand what i've got self assurance, and being a nurse and after working interior the scientific institution around maximum cancers sufferers, i'm rather valuable i've got seen greater miracles than the favored individual, so i'm not interested in a preacher telling me what to think of.

As a Christian woman, I am completely fulfilled as a person. In my Church women hold the highest of honors. Some women are not only Saints but Doctors of the Church. I can't think of anything else that would be more fulfilling for any person, male or female.

I used to want to be President of the US, at age 10.

I used to want to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, at age 20.

I used to want to be a leader in a Christian church, at age 27.

I used to want to be a Saint, at age 40.

Now I intend to be a Doctor of the Church.

Yours in Christ Jesus, Grace

I offer my dissent, strongly and vehemently. I'm not giving up my pride, my independence, or my sexuality to any god.

It's not as if those gods exist in the first place.

We women were not created, and what's more, we were not created for men! I am not here just to satisfy some man. I do not need a man to be happy. I am not just some man's "better half" or love interest. I am as much a human being as anyone else.

It sickens me to know that people still quote those parts of the Bible that talk about women being secondary, lower people.

I'm atheist and the male ego dominance within religion is one of the many issues I had with christianity. Within nature it is women who are the life-givers and we even refer to "mother" nature yet within (many) religions women are not given the credit or status that they deserve. Throughout history, religion has been the biggest stumbling block for women's emancipation.

This is the questioning of Satan... who would like to turn the Bible upside down and backwards.

Woman was created for Man.... that he feel complete in her companionship and love. Woman was G-d's gift to Man... so that his empty earthly desire could be fufilled.

G-d's gift. Raise your hand if you think it is a bad thing to be a gift from G-d!

Ever been asked "Do you think you were G-d's gift to Women?" Well indeed Women are G-d's gift to you, and should be treated as such.

She was also granted the blessing of creating another human life within her.

Thats quite a resilient job in and of itself.

Women are unintelligent? Helpless? Inferior? Nope.

A good Man is a good Man, and a good Woman is a good Woman.

As G-d's creation, Woman is held in the same esteem as a man.

EDIT-

A simple question. Which of the above statements do those who not like my answer take issue with?

It is not the World who determines equality in religion as it is God's word that determines it.

I follow a faith that is equal with men and women. we have gods and goddesses and they are both equal. all have their strengths and weaknesses just as we humans do.

I've asked similar questions myself

I like to point out that we have a black hole and not a black pole..and if there are magical entities..that a goddess gave birth to a god.......
