The Watchtower Society prophesied that Armageddon would come at 6 separate and distinct time periods and they were wrong.

1914 - "In view of this strong Bible evidence concerning the Times of the Gentiles, we consider it an established truth that the final end of the kingdoms of this world, and the full establishment of the Kingdom of God, will be accomplished by the end of 1914." (The Time is at Hand, 1902 edition, p. 99) Note: this same statement was contained in the 1908 edition of the same book.

End of WW1: “The present great war in Europe is the beginning of the Armageddon of the Scriptures (Revelation 19:16-20). It will eventuate in the complete overthrow of all the systems of error which have so long oppressed the people of God and deluded the world”. (Pastor Russell's Sermons, 1915, p. 676) In the same year (1915),

1925 - “The period must end in 1925 . . . [This date] is definitely fixed in the Scriptures. Every thinking person can see that a great climax is at hand. The scriptures clearly indicate that the climax is the fall of Satan's empire and the full establishment of the Messianic kingdom . . . Therefore, it can be confidently said at this time that millions now living will never die”. (Golden Age, January 4, 1922, p. 217)

1975 - Watchtower, October 15, 1969 pages 622 and 623:

"More recently earnest researchers of the Holy Bible have made a recheck of its chronology. According to their calculations the six millenniums of mankind's life on earth would end in the mid-seventies…. Would not, then, the end of six millenniums of mankind's laborious enslavement under Satan the Devil be the fitting time for Jehovah God to usher in a Sabbath millennium for all his human creatures? Yes, indeed! And his King Jesus Christ will be Lord of that Sabbath."

Notice the use of the definite article “the”. It would be “the fitting time”, not “a fitting time” not “an appropriate time” but “THE FITTING TIME”, to the exclusion of all other times. “Yes, Indeed! And his King Jesus Christ will be Lord of that Sabbath”. Not “might be”, not “could be”, but “WILL BE”.

• End of the 20th Century - Again in 1971, they said it would come in the 20th century: ”Shortly, within our twentieth century, the “battle in the day of Jehovah” will begin”. From: The Nations Shall Know That I Am Jehovah - How? 1971 p. 216”

Within the life span of the 1914 generation: Watchtower, 7/1/69 pg395:

“People who were only just old enough to understand what was happening to the world in 1914 are now approaching seventy years of age. Yes, the numbers of that generation are dwindling fast, but before they all pass away this system must meet its end in the war of Armageddon.”

None of the above happened and as of 1995, the above 1914 thing is wrong.

I vaguely remember something about the preaching work stopping before Armageddon, but in my later as a Jo Ho, I don't remember them saying that.

I believe you answered your own question.

However JW's teach the preaching work will continue after Armageddon teaching those newly resurrected by Jehovah. Is this maybe what you were looking for answer wise?

Glad to be back in Jehovah's loving arms of undeserved kindness.

That the preaching work will have been accomplished

to Jehovah's satisfaction. Matthew 24:14

Noah also preached concerning Jehovah's purposes.

Think about what it meant when his preaching stopped.

Jake the snake Question

Why do Jehovah witnesses bother people by showing up at your door thinking you wanna hear what they have to sa?

at the end it should be "Say" but l ran out of letters so anyways

when did this all start when they show up at your door thinking you got time to hear their beliefs,

U.N.Bites Pope

Your Answer:

Because we do see what the clergy are doing behind doors and those kind are the kind that set laws for the nation and international laws too! See the Pope and U.N. as an example! See last link below for that. But first see Newsweek link. The link might or might not work. Might have to copy/paste to search.

About me: The Pope is giving the United Nations teeth to bite all religions that mix in government business and teach Pagan not Christian teachings. He put teeth in the beast mouth the Bible says will attack that kind of religion. How soon will he [the Pope & others] know he made the biggest goof in religious history? The God of the Bible Jehovah in Revelation says he will cause that to happen. Jehovah does not lie! The Devil does and the Pope is well tied to his hand. Do not believe? Keep an eye on things in the news. Watch what happens! But as you do note what you need to do at Revelation 18:4 which says GOT OUT of that kind of religion like yesterday! No time to wait around for it to be too late! It will be a sad day if you believe not! But you do have your own free will therefore your choice to educate yourselves on the Bible facts. Jehovah will not force you to change your mind. That is up to you alone! What is your choice? How many times have you already told Jehovah's Witnesses go away? See my last post below:

They used to say that their ministry would be completed in the 20th Century.

I have an original single Watchtower as well as a bound volume of the Watchtower from Jan 1, 1989. The bound volume is all of the Watchtowers for a particular year, put together in one book. Both on page 12, par 8 the last sentence says of the Apostle Paul, "He was also laying a foundation for a work that would be completed in our 20th Century"

Article Scan: http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/qq19/Watchtower_Facts/ministry_end_20th_century_1989_wt_j.jpg

In the 2006 CD, the same sentence, from the same Watchtower says "He was also laying a foundation for a work that would be completed in our day."

Jehovah does not decide when. Their governing body decides when they will stop if ever.

Yes I do. The door will be closed. There are only so many who will listen to Jehovah, only he knows when it has been reached. When he lets us know, we will be done preaching.

I have a friend who is a Jehovah's witness. She always preaches her beliefs on everyone. And she always says her religion is the 'right' religion. I personally think that she shouldn't diss other peoples' spiritual paths, but lots of people are Jehovah's witnesses and have that attitude.

Your preaching will cease when your leadership has their bank accounts overflowing with your money. So that means you will be "preaching" until the end of time.

Your church members seen to have a good knowledge of the Bible but you add to many man made rules on top of it. You are way off base.

According to Jesus (in Matthew chapter 24) the "gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."

It is absolutely true that the invitation to respond positively to God's call will not last indefinitely. Although he is patient with us and does not desire that any should perish, a time of tribulation is coming. Jesus himself warned us that "false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect". Then the Son of Man (Jesus, not Michael the archangel) will come "on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory." At that point, his angels will gather his elect.

We should be living each day as if the Lord was coming tonight, because the moment to say "Yes!" to God's invitation is NOW.

My opinion. When God bring down Heaven/New Jerusalem inorder to live with His righteous people, then all will glorify Him and no more tears, hunger or fear, etc....... No more temples... otherwords, no more JW, reason you could not preach anymore or other cults... God is the Only Temple.

It means that Charles Taze Russell (and successors) has managed not only to come up with a huge number of failed eschatological predictions, he has somehow persuaded his people, each time, to wait for the next one.
