News story regarding bible markings on military weapons:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8468981.stm

"The markings include "2COR4:6" and "JN8:12", relating to verses in the books of II Corinthians and John."

REFERENCE:
1) John 8:12 (New International Version):
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

2) 2 Corinthians 4:6 (New International Version)
For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

I was wondering how the Christian founder of this weapons company justifies the markings given that the bible says "Thou shalt not kill" (Exodus 20:13, Deuteronomy 5:17 etc).

What do Christians think of this? Do you disagree with using bible references on weapons? When is killing ok, and when is it not? I'm just interested on your take on it.

Atheists, as ever, your opinions are interesting also :)

As a Christian, I find it insulting to God to do this. Yes, there are times when killing is justified such as self-defense. However, we do not need to glorify killing by putting biblical references on the weapons used to kill. To me, we shouldn't be putting references to God on things which are not accomplishing God's work such as weapons, money, government buildings, etc.

I am upset beyond reason, and yet at the same time, not surprised. As much as I would wish that this isn't a religion based war, for a lot of people (including I believe our former POTUS) it very much is so.

How amused am I that a major weapons company is run by someone who claims to believe in a merciful, all loving god?

Very, but it's the sort of amused that also comes with tears and a lot of anger.

This is all so horrifying to me.

It will inevitably give justification to claims that this is a religious war and be used as an excuse to kill even more American and allied troops!!

It breaches the constitution and therefore new sights should be procured and the manufacturing company banned from any further government procurement!!!
Crucio!

Their excuse would probably be 'people do the killing, not guns'.

I think it's just plain stupid, to be honest. More hillbilly gun lovers thinking they can do whatever they want just because a particular part of the Bible says they can or should. Meanwhile, they ignore most of the good parts like 'thou shalt not kill' or the one about not judging people.

I'm not surprised. Christians are just as advocative of killing as Muslims, no matter how many times they each say their religions are "religions of peace" or wave their "thou shalt not kill" lines.

Actions speak louder than words. Christianity is the practice of hypocrisy.

If the weapon manufacturer is an atheist ;-p

The weapon will have these words

"This gun is scientifically prove to be able to hit target accurately within 300 meters and you don't have to pray"
