Why do satanists do satanic rituals?

After doing some research on satanism I am confused. I am an atheist who was interested in maybe becoming a satanist as I agree with a lot of the philosophy. I just really do not understand the rituals. If you do not believe in any deity what is the purpose of them and what exactly do you do in these rituals?

Did you read the Satanic Bible? We use rituals to tap into our minda and emotions toward a goal. And yes they can work if done right. But many atheists who are not Satanists are into rituals and magic as well not just us. It is mental and emotional power not supernatural

You are mixing two types of satanists. Some satanists are an off-shoot of Judeo-Christian religion, and actually believe in the characters in the mythologies and therefore have religions to appease the Satan character and/or demons.

There is another satanism which is just a type of atheism which calls itself satanism for the sake of being the opposite of Christianity. Some of these also have rituals, but they aren't towards a deity, just individual things people do in regards to the power in themselves (similar to rituals found in sports teams they think help them win). Remember, atheism just means lack of a belief in a deity, some atheists are actually spiritual and believe in supernatural things.

Most Satanists are atheist. The rituals are just a mockery of the christian church. Demonolaters perform the rituals seriously.

If you talking about people who just call themselves Satanist, but don't believe in Him, then there is likely not much, if any point in them doing rituals. True Satanists, i.e. Spiritual Satanists, we do rituals for various reasons. To connect with Satan, give Him thanks for something He has helped us with, request something if we really need it and are unable to achieve it ourselves, or for working Magick. Ritual allows us to connect easier to Planetary energies for use in the working, and also we invoke The Four Crowns Of Hell, which boosts our power. We also do rituals to summon Demons, and for other purposes too.

Many of the Satanic rituals are psychological exercises for strengthening the will and mind. Not all rituals are about Gods.

REAL Satanists (as opposed to the biting rat heads off idiot kind) are really just of the belief that they should whatever they want. (I know several.) They don't do rituals and such. It's kind of like a "live in the moment" type of mindset.
