Question:
The great deception?
2006-09-19 06:44:11 UTC
About the crusifiction, Jesus wasnt crusified on a cross, He was nailed to a pole with both hands above His head. To come back to question about the deception. Wasnt Constantine the man, who with the councle of nicea, took all the scripts and gospels and put them together to make up the first bible? If yes, then did you know that Constantine woshipped zeus the sungod? I am a christian, and started finding these things out for myself, thats why I asked the q that arent we as christians being deceived to carry on sunworship in our churches today. The bible clearly states that we should not believe anything but only His word. Is there somebody that feels the same and how can we find out more?

You are right. It is a deception that began with Constantine trying to convert from paganism to Christianity. He was never a true Christian and many of his pagan ideas are still a major part of Christendoms teachings.

Jesus was crucified on a pole or stake, not a cross. The KJ Bible says this regarding what Jesus was put to death on---"The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree." (Acts 5:30) and also:

Acts 10:39--"And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree."

The tree was made into an upright pole or stake and some criminals were put to death in this way. Jesus was condemned as a criminal and that is why he also was put to death on what was definitly a torture stake.

Jesus willingly sacrificed his life in behalf of all mankind and for this we are eternally grateful.

Jesus was nailed to a tree on the mount of Golgatha (the skull) in Israel. He had to carry his cross (the long partthat goes across) through the streets of Israel before being crucified. He was. Golgatha is a real place that still exists and still looks like a skull. There was a tree there, and may still be there today (I'll tell you in November, I'm going in October).

Constantine maybe sanctioned the council of nicea, and the church leaders evaluated the many gospels and texts that were out there and selected the ones they did to include in the Bible. Constantine was converted to Christianity from paganism.

Do some more thorough research in your information. There is a lot of misinformation out there. Check out some of the sermons at www.mcleanbible.org, the pastor Lon Solomon has done some real research on this and other topics that makes a lot of sense. He's teaching in his sermons more than preaching. Check out his 3 sermons on the Da Vinci Code, they're AWESOME. Also consider taking a Bible class at a local college, they always seem to interpret the scripture in a way that may be somewhat unconventional to the church, however is another way of looking at the same thing.

What difference does it make what the tree actually was or how it was shaped. Don't lose the significance of what Jesus did over the size, or shape. He was crucified, plain and simple, for OUR sins, be thankful for that.

Additional information:

The Bible clearly and undeniably teaches that Jesus died on a cross (Matthew 27:32,40,42; Mark 15:21,30,32; Luke 23:26; John 19:17,19,25; Acts 2:23; 1 Corinthians 1:17-18; Colossians 1:20; 2:14-15). The Greek words in those Scriptures specifically identify a cross, not a pole or stake. The most common method of execution by the Romans in Jesus’ time was crucifying a person on a cross, with nails through their hands/wrists and feet/ankles. Sometimes people were tied to the cross in addition to being nailed to it. There were instances where people were crucified to poles, stakes, trees, x-shaped crosses, etc. Ultimately, it DOES NOT MATTER what Jesus was crucified on. At the same time, the Bible specifically states that Jesus was crucified on a cross.

As I have said in answer to another question, the exact for of crucifixion is still to be determined but crrent evidence points to at least the feet being nailed either side of the cross.

The word comes first and remember it doesn't justify your position, you are there to accept what it says. I am no fan of constantine and agree about what he did. However, that is no reason to condemn other Christians. Much of the tradition in churches is simply that. How harmful it is is another question.

If you are referring to the deception that jesus taught about then it is important to realise that you cannot accept the words of Jesus in one place and deny them in another. In the same Bible where he warns about the possibility of the elect being deceived (so that IF possible the elect might be deceived etc) and false teachers, He also proclaims that He is God (before Abraham was I AM) and is killed for this very reason.

Traditions are one thing but the Bible is truth. People like rites and feel comfortable doing the same thing over. As Paul said about those who like to celebrate holy days, if they want to, let them. bear with those who are weaker in faith or who won't eat meat etc. So long as the truths of the gospel are not touched and God is praised, let them go for it.

And actually while the Bible as we know it was not in the present form until (just before) Constantine, the NT as we know it was compiled in its current form two generations before. read a good Bible dictionary and you will see.

Actually, the correct translation is a branchless tree, but a pole does work. It was replaced with the word cross in the third century. The use of the cross as a regular instrument of execution by the Roman Empire didn't begin until nearly 40 years after Christ died. The Jews used a stake, because people had to die before sunset, as was required by Jewish Law. hanging with your arms above you head, even tied, compresses the lungs and you suffocate. If a condemned man was not dead by the end of the day, his legs were broke, so he couldn't hold himself up to prevent the suffocation.

As for Constantine, at the time he declared himself the first Pope, he was also the Roman Caesar, which meant that he was the embodiment of the living God on Earth of the Roman Empire. He had to satisfy both the Christians and the Pagans, but remember, but this time, Christians had already fallen away from the strict teachings of Christ. The began falling away at the time of the Apostle Paul, when he said that he felt he had worked for nothing, because they had returned to the observances and celebrations of man, such as birthdays and immortalizing the dead

So, it is no wonder that by the time of Constantine, it was easy for him to do what he did. Now, nearly 2000 years later, it has become simple for Christians to deceive themselves into believing something is okay simply because they are self professed Christians. Christ said that most would claim to speak in his name, but are actually anti-christs, because their beliefs are only just enough Christian to make people think they are, but not so much as to inconvenience them.

Don't know about that one. I just feel like God left His words here, the bible. It's the inspired word of God written by several of his followers. The entire bible is the story of Jesus and you can't get to the Father, without the Son. I think if you take your eye off God and start looking at other things, then you're being deceived anyway. Either you're going to believe the bible or not. It's that simple.

The plural form of atheist is atheists. in case you are able to tutor why there ought to be an absolute evil and an absolute stable that would very much advance your argument. in any different case, you're in simple terms making unprovable statements. the final deception is which you have self belief your god is benevolent.

This is when my eyes were opened...when I reached the truth for myself. I was on a lifelong mission for the truth and now I don't believe in the Bible at all. All your questions are valid. Keep up the good work and read "The Age of Reason" by Thomas Paine. That will answer many of your questions using the Bible itself as the prove of what he says.

sure Constantine worshiped Zeus before he was converted. this should be common knowledge if one reads history. Christians may practice a form of SON WORSHIP. you just misspelled the word

it should be " SON " not " sun".

My understanding of it, is not mine , but His !

... God’s truth about the end of days “after” Christ’s return. His people will establish the earth, rebuild the waste places, cities, grow gardens, here “on earth” No heaven! Just our upper atmospheric heavens in the clouds as it states, where we meet Christ.

………………...The Truth from an Old Testament prophesy ..

...Isa 2:2 And it shall come to pass in the “last days”,(The time here is “after” Christ’s return and the Holy city has been established on earth !) that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and “all nations shall flow unto it” (The Holy City in Jerusalem ! ) 3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: ( In just that little text we see that people on the earth will seek out God from wherever nation they are !) for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD “from Jerusalem” 4 And he shall judge among “the nations”, ( Did you get that ! The nations will still be here ! ) and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: “nation shall not lift up sword against nation”, neither shall they learn war any more. ( That is not In Heaven, but here on earth !) Yeah right, you get the picture!? Mankind has been fooled ! How about all of His truth!! Now read the last two chapters of Revelations and know it is not an allegory nor a lie !

...Be careful to note , John did not write the book of Revelations as many in mainstream Christianity has taught ! God is the original author , See the first verse of revelations and see for yourself ! God gave it to His son, His son gave it to an angel, the Angel gave it to John, John re-recorded it ! Note, the visions were added by John, but remember, the visions John had were given by God, so in fact ALL of the book of Revelations is by GOD ! THAT is very important as it is not an allegory as many have made up, nor is it a lie !

The verse here >> Rv1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, “which God gave unto him”, to shew unto his servants/followers things which must shortly come to pass; and he/Christ sent and signified it “by his angel” unto his servant “John”:

You know the rest ! See you in the City !

read this

ponder over it

3:55 "Behold! God said: O Jesus! I will take thee And raise thee to Myself And clear thee (of the falsehoods) Of those who blaspheme; I will make those Who follow thee superior To those who reject faith, To the Day of Resurrection: Then shall ye all return unto me, And I will judge Between you of the matters wherein ye dispute."

4:156-159 "That they rejected Faith; That they uttered against Mary A grave false charge; That they said (in boast): 'We killed Christ Jesus The son of Mary, The Messenger of God.' But they killed him not, Nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjunction to follow, for of a surety they killed him not. Nay, God raised him up Unto Himself; and God Is Exalted in Power, Wise. And there is none of the people of the book (Jews and Christians) But must believe in him (Jesus) Before his death; And on the Day of Judgment He (Jesus) will be a witness Against them."

The sun god was Sol Invictus... not Zeus. And Constantine did not organize the bible.

Around the start of the fourth century AD, The Roman Empire was governed by the Emperor Constantine. The Empire at this time was not in the best of health, being a morass of different cults and belief systems. The official state religion was the worship of Sol Invictus, the Sun God, and this was Constantine's own religion. However, the relatively new cult of Christianity was starting to enjoy a groundswell of support, and it did not require a crystal ball to see that steps needed to be took if Rome's tenuous grip on the Empire was to be strengthened.

Constantine called together a meeting of religious and secular leaders at Nicea in 325AD to resolve the situation, and it is principally as a result of this meeting that he earned the title of Constantine the Great, bestowed upon him subsequently by Church leaders. It was at this meeting that Constantine and his cronies resolved that if the proletariat had to have their superstitions, then better it was controlled by the state and adopted policies that the state approved of. It is this meeting that the world has come to know as the Council of Nicea, and the world still shudders from its repercussions today.

As the cult of Christianity was the one on the rise, it was felt best to tack new policies on the end of this religion - this was the one that clearly stood the best chance of success. One of the principal tasks was to decide which books should constitute the holy book of the new religion, which would be the Bible. Therefore, some of the current Gospels had to go, and some of the material in the remaining Gospels had to be edited. So, for example, the Gospel of Philip, which had been perfectly creditable until this point, was cut from the Bible. Upon closer inspection however, the reason for Philip's edit became clear when a copy was discovered. It contains passages in which some of the disciples complain about how Jesus appears to favour Mary Magdelene over all the other apostles, and they are annoyed because he is always kissing her on the mouth. Jesus replies that he does favour her, and is coy about answering directly, and enigmatically says, "great are the mysteries of marriage"!

The Council of Nicea decides that with a little selective editing, they could create a nice little irrefutable line of succession based on a supposed quote by Jesus about Peter, namely, "this is the rock upon which my church is built". If you then make Peter the first Pope, and each successor is nominated by the outgoing Pope, then you have a mandate from Jesus, which can then be construed as being more irrefutable and undeniable than even lines of monarchistic descent. Because of this agenda, over fifty books with about an equal claim are written off at a stroke. Anything that's in, is really in; hence the term " Gospel truth' ; and anything that's out is written off as heretical. Yet the origins of the word heresy lie with the word for choice!

Now, if Jesus is indeed married - and a reluctance to get married and procreate is seen by Jews as a statement of not wishing to continue the line of God's chosen people, and is worthy of a stern rebuke from church elders, then as today - and has children, the line of Peter is irrelevant as the blood of the Royal line is more important than the word. So the Gospel of Philip ends up on the cutting room floor, along with any other document or passage that contains references to Jesus' marriage. However, this is a subject that deserves - and will get - a guide entry of its own. I merely use this as an example of why such selective editing processes were used.

Evidence that the church was doing this editing exists. A copy of a letter exists from a second century church father, Clement of Alexandria, to a correspondent known only as Theodore. Theodore has written to Father Clement for advice on how to deal with a cult known as the Carpocratians, who appear to hold heretical views gained from what they call the Secret Gospel of Mark. Unfortunately for the gullible Theodore who has clearly been raised to believe dogma, Father Clement admits that this secret gospel exists ; not as a standalone document, but as a copy of the Gospel before the Church got their cut and paste functions around it. Father Clement admits to its existence but advises him to lie and deny any knowledge of it. Clement describes some of the missing passages to him.

The first of these relates to the raising of Lazarus, and in particular the events shortly thereafter. Six days after the raising of Lazarus, it is said that a youth comes to Jesus, wearing just a loincloth, and he stays with Jesus all night, during which time he learns the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. So far from raising one of the dead, it would appear that the raising of Lazarus was merely a symbolic act, indicating that Lazarus has been initiated into a higher rank by Jesus.

Secondly, Mark 11:46 tells how Jesus arrives at Jericho, but by the end of the sentence we are already learning of events concerned with his leaving Jericho. Now there can be only one reason for this; something was cut out. Father Clement confirms that this is indeed the case. The passage cut out reads, "And the sister of the youth whom Jesus loved and his mother and Salome were there, and Jesus did not receive them". The phrase "the youth whom Jesus loved" appears elsewhere in the Bible and refers to Lazarus. It has been put forward elsewhere that Lazarus and Mary Magdelene are brother and sister, and the evidence for this is fairly well documented. The passage itself, at face value, appears to say nothing controversial, but once again it's what's not there that makes it important. The mere act of cutting it means that the church is aware of a situation involving Jesus and Mary Magdelene, and is trying to hide it. Cutting it out has only drawn more attention to it.

So, how to make the name of Jesus all-powerful, and put the church in a position where kings bow to it? After all, what's the point of having this organisation which is capable of ruling the western world through fear and without having to get involved in any messy politics, and then just being content with passing round a collection plate a couple of times a week? The obvious idea is to add some mystique to Jesus, give him an aura of mystery and the supernatural, and to do this the council went back into history for inspiration. Let's consider a few historical figures for a moment;

Gautama Buddha: Born of the virgin Maya around 600BC.

Dionysus: Greek God, born of a virgin in a stable, turned water into wine.

Quirrnus: An early Roman saviour, born of a virgin.

Attis: Born of the virgin Nama in Phyrgia around 200BC.

Indra: Born of a virgin in Tibet around 700BC.

Adonis: Babylonian God, born of the virgin Ishtar

Krishna: Hindu deity, born of the virgin Devaki around 1200BC.

Zoroaster: Born of a virgin sometime between 1500BC and 1200BC.

Mithra: Born of a virgin on December 25 around 600BC.

The popular Cult of Mithra (or Mithras) was indeed an embarrassment to the early church. Its roots are probably in Syria and it is believed to be an offshoot of the Persian cult of Zoroaster. It seems to have been introduced into the Roman Empire around 67BC. Born in a stable to a virgin, birthday celebrated on December 25th, died and reborn, Passover celebrated around Easter, whose rites of worship involved the ingestion of food and drink that were symbolic of eating the flesh of Mithra, and all this 600 years before the birth of Christ. Also included were rites of baptism, the belief in immortality, resurrection, a judgement at the end between Heaven and Hell, and a saviour who died and was resurrected to act as a mediator between man and God.

Ignoring the fact that wholesome young girls had apparently been giving birth to saviours and deities for a number of centuries, it appeared that it would be extremely difficult for the church to pass off Mithra lightly. But these were desperate men, and ultimately the church concocted a story about how the devil was such a wily adversary he had gone back in time to 'plant' Mithra as an obvious forerunner of Jesus, which was intended to sow seeds of doubt into the minds of the dubious.

And thus the concept of the Holy Trinity was born. The one god now split into three, and the figurehead who always claimed he was the son of man was now proclaimed as the Son of God! And the mysterious Holy Ghost, who still baffles experts to this day, appeared more or less out of nowhere. So now when Jesus says of Peter, "This is the rock upon which my church is built", he is not just a rebellious political leader, he is the Son of God!

Other aspects of Jesus were modified to make him more acceptable to those who still worshipped the official state religion of Sun God Worship. Two dates have been put forward for Jesus' true birthday, one in early March and one early in September. It is possible that he had both a personal birthday, the actual anniversary of his birth, and a state birthday - much like the Queen of England. But this celebration was moved to December 25 because this is the date of the major feast of Sol Invictus.

This is not everything decreed by the Council, merely an illustration of the way the Church has distorted history. After all, it has been said that if you control history, then you control the future.
