The bible was originally written in Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic. It was later all translated into greek, then into latin, then into every other language in the world. We've since gone back to the original greek, for a more direct translation of what the bible says, but ultimately, as with any translation of anything, no translation will ever be entirely precise and carry all the meaning the the original did. The best we can do is keep trying, and hope we arrive at something that carries the same general message.
If you really want a non-updated bible, well, I hope you've got a thorough background in four separate languages; two of them dead.
As of right now, there are over 100 different versions of the bible in English alone, many of them leaving books or verses out, or changing verses without the teaching authority needed to justify such changes.
The Catholic Church, however, DOES have teaching authority. It received this authority right from the lips of Jesus himself, and it created the bible in the first place. Furthermore, the entire new testament was written by Catholics. I think they have the right to do this. The Holy Spirit will protect them from error.
