Question:
Adam and Eve Question?

Hi :) Uhm.. Anyway, I'm 14 years old, and my dad just bought me a bible...
I skimmed through it, and I have a few questions on a thing that really baffled me...

Mhh, we all know the story of Adam and Eve, they got tempted by the Devil in his snake form, Ate the Apple, and released sin into all of mankind.

God, is the good, omnipotent being, but he didn't do anything to stop Sin, the thing that plagues our world today, greed, lust, gluttony, etc.

Why?? =\ Why didn't God act...

If he's unable to than he's not all powerful.
If he's able to, but doesn't do anything... He just basically condemned all of mankind, for the sins committed by Adam and Eve.

Doesn't that go against the bible in what we believe God to be? An, All Powerful,  Benevolent Ruler of his people?

Jesus sacrificed himself, so God will forgive us for our sins...
Though by allowing Eve to release Sin, isn't he also in the wrong?
To let an evil happen, while not doing anything?

And I'm not sure about this, but if sin wasn't released into the world, their would be no need for Hell, right? Since that's the punishment for people who committed said acts.

Thanks for answering my questions in advance guys and girls. X)

P.S. - Note: I "skimmed" through it, I didn't study the bible indepthly so forgive me for my ignorance if I missed a key-point in this scenario.

If you study the Bible in depth you will have your answer instead of "skimming". The isn't a book you just skim thru like you would for some exam and just get an overview. This is the book of life that needs to be studied and read several times and each time you do God will reveal new truths to you. God gave man freewill and didn't make us robots. God wanted to see how we would use our choices.

It's like anything in life, you always have a choice and it's yours alone even if you did get some outside influence. Adam and Eve were told not to eat from the tree of knowledge and if they did they would surely die. Eve listened to the outside influence (satan) and made the wrong decision. Do you realize their was also the tree of life in the garden and that they could have lived for an eternity. Do you realize that the world was such a perfect place then that you could live on it without clothes. Their were no harsh seasons, no place they couldn't go as they were. But because of their actions God cursed the earth and that's what we have now. This life is a trip back to where it all began. God tells us how we are to live in the Bible and gave us redemption from sin thru Jesus Christ and all we have to do is accept it and follow the narrow path that leads to life. Remember you only get one shot at this. The Bible teaches you will live for an eternity. It's just your choice as to where.

Adam had only two bites of the plum. While Eve ate an entire one and started eating another, before the God shrieked at them and cast them hence. So Adam's sin wasn't very bad.

As for your question, the God is not exactly all powerful but he's close enough, or thinks he is. He has a few odd quirks, you might want to look at Ezekiel 14:9.

As for Jesus sacrificing himself, that wasn't the plan; Jesus expected to be rescued by a legion of angels. When they didn't show up he decided to call it a sacrifice -- only problem is, bible story says he came back to life two days later, so what kind of sacrifice is that?

As for Eve's original sin, you might be interested to know bible says Eve will be saved in child-bearing. See First Timothy 2:15. What kind of crap is that?

Jehovah God created the first human pair perfect. He designed them to live forever. He placed them in a beautiful garden paradise and told them to be" fruitful and multiply",and fill the earth with perfect humans. He gave them everything they needed. All He asked was that they obey Him and not eat from just one tree in that whole garden. Jehovah also told them what would happen if they disobeyed.

This was a test.Would they remain faithful and obey their loving heavenly father?

Satan the Devil tricked Eve through a snake into believing that God was lying and that they wouldn't die if they ate from the tree. Satan also questioned God's right to rule over them and led Eve to believe that she and her husband would be better off without God's direction. So she ate from the tree and then gave Adam some and he also ate. The scriptures tell us at 1 Timothy 2:13, 14:" For Adam was formed first, then Eve. Also, Adam was not deceived, but the woman was thoroughly deceived and came to be in transgression."

Because Adam was formed first,he would spent alot more time with Jehovah God and would have come to know exactly what was required of him. However Eve was the newer creation and that is why Satan approached her instead of Adam.

Many ask why did God allow this to happen? Why didnt He stop Eve?

Well He could have stepped in and wiped out the first human couple but the questions Satan raised would remain unanswered and the Bible tells us that the angels were very interested in what goes on, on the earth. They would have been watching this all unfold and maybe some of them would have wondered themselves whether or not Jehovah God lied, whether Jehovah God is a fit ruler.

One of Jehovah God's main attributes is justice and that is why He is allowing sufficient time to pass so that man proves he cannot rule himself successfully independently of his Creator,Jehovah.

But to say God has done or did nothing about what happened in the garden of Eden is incorrect.

The first prophecy was uttered just after Adam and Eve being thrown out of the garden paradise. It is found at Gen.3:15:" And I shall put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed. He will bruise you in the head and you will bruise him in the heel.”

To balance the scales of justice, so to speak, another perfect human life was needed to gain back what the perfect creation Adam had lost for us all mankind, simply everlasting life.(Rom5:12)

But as offspring of Adam, all mankind was now born with inherited sin,Jehovah God had to look amongst His own spirit sons for a perfect life that could be offered up as a ransom sacrifice to buy back what Adam had lost (John 3:16, 17:3).

The concept of a fiery place of eternal torment called 'hell' is not a bible teaching. It is a man made doctrine used to frightened people and make the churches even richer.

The Bible clearly teaches that when we die, we cease to exist and go back to the ground from which we came. We do however, remain in God's memory and await a resurrection.(Gen.3:19;Eccl.9:5;Acts 24:15)

If you want to learn the Bible's message and what God requires of us,why dont you contact your local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. We offer free home bible studies.

This will be a stupid example, but I found it when I read Angels and Demons by Dan Brown alright so, maybe it'll answer this because it answered it for me in a more rational way- I always had problems with this question....

“You are confused because the Bible describes God as an omnipotent and benevolent deity…Omnipotent-benevolent simply means that God is all-powerful and well-meaning.”

I understand the concept. It’s just…there seems to be a contradiction.”

Yes. The contradiction is pain. Man’s starvation, war, sickness…”

Exactly!” Chartrand knew the camerlengo would understand. “Terrible things happen in this world. Human tragedy seems like proof that God could not possibly be both all-powerful and well-meaning. If He loves us and has the power to change our situation, He would prevent our pain, wouldn’t He?”

The Camerlengo frowned. “Would He?”

Chartrand felt uneasy. Had he overstepped his bounds? Was this one of those religious questions you just didn’t ask? “Well…if God loves us, and He can protect us, He would have to. It seems He is either omnipotent and uncaring, or benevolent and powerless to help.”

Do you have children, Lieutenant?”

Chartrand flushed. “No, signore.”

Imagine you had an eight-year-old son…would you love him?”

Of course.”

Would you let him skateboard?”

Chartrand did a double take. The camerlengo always seemed oddly “in touch” for a clergyman. “Yeah, I guess,” Chartrand said. “Sure, I’d let him skateboard, but I’d tell him to be careful.”

So as this child’s father, you would give him some basic, good advice and then let him go off and make his own mistakes?”

I wouldn’t run behind him and mollycoddle him if that’s what you mean.”

But what if he fell and skinned his knee?”

He would learn to be more careful.”

The camerlengo smiled. “So although you have the power to interfere and prevent your child’s pain, you would choose to show your love by letting him learn his own lessons?”

Of course. Pain is part of growing up. It’s how we learn.”

The camerlengo nodded. “Exactly.”

If the 1st 2 people have been the two male, it would make the bible much greater absurd. God did not write the bible, men wrote the bible, and it replace into all politically terrific suited for the day. With Adam and Eve we are all a gaggle or inbreds because it fairly is, yet with Adam and Steve, umm yeah, till Steve had a womb, which negates the gay rights activists element.

God made man and woman in His image and gave us free will. Yes God knew of man's sin before it happened and that is why He all along had planned for Jesus Christ to come into the world. We all have a choice to make to follow God or follow satan it is what free will is all about. I recommend that you read the whole Bible not just skim it. Start with the New Testament then read the old it makes more sense once you know Jesus Christ.

We actually see and hear Satan three times in the Bible. Once in the Garden where Satan slanders God to man, which you talked about, another in the book of Job where in the heavens where Satan slanders man (Job) to God, and then in the wilderness, where Satan slanders the God/man Jesus.

Each time we see the normal way of Satan is to slander, so it is understandable when we look at our situation on earth with the revelation of God throughout the Bible, we are at war. The war is between good (of God) and evil (of Satan). We have been given the responsibility to stand against evil on earth without being able to see either God or Satan. Those who do as God has commanded do so by faith in all the evidences of the design and Bible, not by sight of God.

Our job is to choose our destiny in eternity as either to work hard to be as God commands or to do anything else and follow Satan, the father of lies.

Death seals your destiny and the end pay off for God is to be without evil. Today, good and evil co-exist, but when this war is over, it can be separated by God as a payoff to allowing this war on this lower plane.

The Bible don't make any sense. This is why many people are turning to Islam.

In Islam we have the story of Adam and Eve as well. And the story about they eating the 'fruit' by the temptation of the Devil and so on. Also about Jesus Christ. But Muslims believe in the sin committed by Adam and Eve, but we don't have the concept of 'Original Sin' by which it is preached in the church that 'We are born with sin'. 'Muslims don't believe in 'Inherited sin'.. Islamicaly everyone is accountable for his or her own actions. We don't believe that Jesus died for our sins. In fact the Quran, the only Book of its kind which had even been testified by many modern day scientists as '100% the word of God, ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cr9knjaOvnE ) says Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) never died on the cross at all.

Well, he did act. He got really pissed off with Adam and Eve for using the free will he gave them. He cursed them to a life of toil and pain, and death.

Then a few generations later he decided to kill all living things on earth except one boat full!

Then he came up with a plan by which he would send himself to be killed as a sacrifice to himself to redeem us from the wrath of himself. But he still intends to kill most of us. And torture us for ever. Because he loves us so much.

Understand now?

satan ask GOD for permission to prove himself that he is greater and so GOD granted him a time to do as he will, this is why there is time.how ever such a time is running out ,this is known as the last day's or end time's.it is a time of great sorrow and deceit, for mankind as only learn ed the way of satan and his ways.JESUS will return and put an end to the ways of satan and teach us the way of GOD and to set up HIS kingdom that will stand for ever.for GOD is and always will be the greatest for there is none like unto HIM.

Aaaahh, i remember when i discovered the holes in christianity. remember, you don't have to believe everything just because your parents do. you can make up your own mind about what you believe and what you don't believe. i did. i'm an athiest in an all-catholic family. also, you can still be a good christian and make your own interpretations of the bible. lots of christians say that the bible isn't to be taken literally.

The concept of original sin is completely foreign to Judaism and Eastern Christianity, having achieved acceptance in only the Western Church. Furthermore, Christian and Islamic concepts of sin are virtual opposites with respect to certain nuances. For example, there is no concept of “sinning in the mind” in Islam; to a Muslim, an evil thought becomes a good deed when a person refuses to act upon it. Overcoming and dismissing the evil thoughts which forever assail our minds is considered deserving of reward rather than punishment. Islamicly speaking, an evil thought only becomes sinful when acted upon.

Conceiving good deeds is more contrary to the base nature of man. Since our creation, if not bound by societal or religious restrictions, humankind has historically dined on the banquet of life with lust and abandon. The orgies of self-indulgence that have carpeted the corridors of history envelop not only individuals and small communities, but even major world powers which ate their fill of deviancy to the point of self-destruction. Sodom and Gomorrah may top most lists, but the greatest powers of the ancient world—to include the Greek, Roman and Persian empires, as well as those of Genghis Khan and Alexander the Great—certainly bear dishonorable mention. But while examples of communal decadence are innumerable, cases of individual corruption are exponentially more common.

So, good thoughts are not always the first instinct of humankind. As such, the Islamic understanding is that the very conception of good deeds is worthy of reward, even if not acted upon. When a person actually acts upon a good thought, Allah multiplies the reward even further.

The concept of original sin simply does not exist in Islam, and never has. For the Christian readers, the question is not whether the concept of original sin exists in present day, but whether it existed during the period of Christian origins. Specifically, did Jesus teach it?

Apparently not. Whoever dreamt up the concept, it certainly wasn’t Jesus, for he reportedly taught,

“Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them, for of such is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 19:14)

We may well wonder how “for of such” could be “the kingdom of heaven” if the unbaptized are hell‑bound. Children are either born with original sin or are bound for the kingdom of heaven. The church can’t have it both ways. Ezekiel 18:20 records,

“The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.”

Deuteronomy 24:16 repeats the point. The objection may be raised that this is Old Testament, but it’s not older than Adam! If original sin dated from Adam and Eve, one wouldn’t find it disavowed in any scripture of any age!

Islam teaches that each person is born in a state of spiritual purity, but upbringing and the allure of worldly pleasures may corrupt us. Nonetheless, sins are not inherited and, for that matter, not even Adam and Eve will be punished for their sins, for God has forgiven them. And how can humankind inherit something that no longer exists? No, Islamicly speaking, all of us will be judged according to our deeds, for

“…man can have nothing but what he strives for” (Quran 53:38–39)

…and

“Who receives guidance, receives it for his own benefit: who goes astray does so to his own loss: no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another ...” (Quran 17:15)

Even though I agree with your "questioning", it is stupid of you to think we are so easily duped by your claim "I'm 14 years old, and my dad just bought me a bible... "

I always fail to understand why people (such as yourself) need to "dumb themselves down" just to ask a question.

The question is just as valid without the lying.
