What in your life has totally made your well laid plans for a given thing totally change? What caused the sudden halt in your plans? Did the new path before you prove better than the old one? The most important part of this question is: To what do you attribute the road block to?

What you call a roadblock, I view as the exact opposite. Religion is a roadblock, keeping you from educating yourself about reality.

the big things usually

death, loss, et cetc

they are personal issues i dont really want to get in to detail on

however

they halt me in my tracks and it takes a while to get back on them

you cant say if the new path was better then the old one, it is not objective, and you cant possibly know where the old one woudl have led you if this hadnt happened

and

you will always think , if that hadnt happened where would i be now, woudl this path be better, or worse etc etc

my road block is attributed to my own dealing with the problems, as well as the problems

the problem happened, it ruins your life, but your left to deal with it and pick it back up and fix it

and if you dont, you make your life what it is from then on

your road block is really your own mind, your psychology, your reaction and your actions after the event

Why would this be specific to atheist(s)?

I can't recall a partcular example of great note. Sure things have gone wrong for me - companies I've worked for have laid me off a time or two when I was in the steel industry. Nothing unusual there and I attribute that to the economy and the low margins on steel (lemme guess - you think it might be....Satan?). I have always found other jobs quickly though and am now doing very well in a much more secure and profitable industry (for which credit goes to my continuing education and results, not God BTW).

An old military maxim:

"No plan survives contact with the enemy"

Or would you prefer Burns?

"The best laid schemes o' mice an' men Gang aft agley, An' lea'e us nought but grief an' pain, For promis'd joy! "

Or politically: "when the then prime minister, Harold Macmillan, was asked by a young journalist what can most easily steer a government off course, he answered "Events, dear boy. Events". "

I'm currently mid major course change, and the verdict isn't in yet.

But I've had one plan fall apart due to unexpected major illness, to provide an example. (and I'll never backpack or windsurf again.)

Well I ******* planned on going to bed hours ago. But here I am, answering metaphorical questions...

To answer your question: Yes, the new path is better than the old one. And there was no road block, I simply pulled over and brought out the map.

My injury (quadruple open fracture of lower leg) last October

My motherĀ“s death In May

I moved on, what else? And what this has to do with God, exactly? I am strong person and, simply, i love life. No need of divine intervention. Will power is, in my case, sufficient enough.

Life gets like this sometimes.

The sudden halt im my plans was when I forgot to pick up the condoms. No sex that night. Can I blame Jesus for that?

I attribute events that are outside my control to events that are outside my control.

Maybe I'd be happier if I attributed them to a vengeful god, I guess. You zealots may be onto something here.

I don't attribute the problems, or successes, in my life to the "divine"... I don't believe in supernatural causation.

Planning, good fortune, luck... and stuff just happens... good and bad.

Sh*t happens. In a system as complex as life with so many variables chaos will always prevail to one degree or another.

I really just thought there was more then life then religion,

so I just take my own path now and see where it takes me.

Sometimes things just happen...usually other people doing stuff that affects me. But luckily nothing major and unfortunate has happened to me yet.

Alcoholism answers every question with the exception of "yes, sobriety is a better path."

I don't understand your question?

Are you seriously equating someones none-belief in god with a life problem?

And god is not a given thing, nothing is for sure, those who believe in god are, in my opinion, delusional and weak.

what makes you think every god from what has been manifested but proved wrong by science is wrong? so you can use your time to further reach new heights. if you can't have sanity growing up, distractions keep you away.
