As I understand it, god came down in human form as Jesus Christ and sacrificed himself to himself to somehow absolve us of sin, instead of just forgiving us.

For the first few centuries of Christianity, many Christians wanted to deify Jesus.  But an opposing political faction argued that would violate Monotheism, which they considered to be a valid concept.  The result is a compromise, where Jesus and God the Father were stuck together using the Holy Spirit as glue, resulting in a single, but triune god who included Jesus.  Like many political compromises, it doesn't necessarily make sense.

There's nothing about the Trinity or this political compromise in the Bible.

I know this isn't exactly an answer to your question, but I, too, am confused about that, now that you mention it. I think it has something to do with the Holy Trinity.

That confusion come by way of the writers disclaimers in the story and the ignorant believers claiming trying to make up and claim what is not even in the story.  It is a fake story and a total lie.

As God in human flesh, He became the Son.  Jesus is God in human flesh.  God came down in human flesh so He could walk among His creation and know His creation.  Man cannot experience a spirit that he cannot see and God in full power is consuming fire.  Man cannot stand with consuming fire around him.  So God had to come down in human flesh.  And He came down for a purpose - to win back eternal life that Adam, Eve and Satan lost for us in the Garden of Eden when Adam listened to Eve instead of listening to God who told him not to eat of that tree.  Jesus is both Son and God Himself and the Holy Spirit which is God with us who teaches all things concerning Christ Jesus.   The Bible is the most marvelous book.  It is our Guidebook for Life.

The trinity is not three separate entities, it's one entity with 3 parts: Father,Son, Holy Spirit. Just like all human beings are also one entity with three parts: spirit, soul and body. The problem is we think of the Father and Son relationship like a Human Father and a Human Son when this not really the best paradigm to use for comprehension. It would be better to think of all of them as forms of GOD, but Jesus was the form that walked as a human being for the purpose of dying to save mankind.  In essence, God, caused himself to be born as a human being, for the sole purpose of dying - which means he basically killed himself to save His children. What great love. Hope that makes it clearer.

Didn't GOD SAY

"I DO EVERYTHING" in Isaiah 45:7?

What are you talking about when Scripture says "GOD manifested (((HIMSELF))) into flesh" (I Timothy 3:16) "came into the world" (John 1:10)

>>>"AS OF<<< the only begotten Son of the Father" (John 1:14) ?

"...when the time had fully come" (Galatians 4:4)?

Can't you understand English?

Your confusion may arise from supposing that a Son of God was fathered by God and had a starting point in time. That's a very wrong idea to have because the Son of God - who later became the man Jesus - was never created or fathered. He is the eternal Son, for that speaks of how He relates to God the Father in the Godhead. This is stated in John ch. 1 vss 1-14. Once you have read all those verses, then your confusion will begin to disappear as this shows Jesus' pre-human existence in Heaven, from before anything was created. It also show His role in creation, proving He could not have been made Himself.

This is the deepest doctrine of God anyone can deal with. Because the God of the Bible is complex and not simple, no mere human is ever going to plumb its depths this side of glory. But John 1:1-14 is where you must start if you are to begin unravelling something of the wonder of how the Word, who was with God in the beginning, and who IS God, eventually became the virgin Mary's child. The whole gospel account of John goes on to explain why this happened and how it affects you and me.  I recommend you read the entire gospel of John.

Both. The three Persons of the Most Holy Trinity have been God from all eternity. The second Person of the Trinity became the Son of God 2,000 years ago, when God the Father made a human woman become pregnant with Him, to be born as Jesus Christ.

The Gospel account by John particularly emphasizes Jesus’ prehuman existence as “the Word” and explains that “the Word became flesh and resided among us, and we had a view of his glory, a glory such as belongs to an only-begotten son from a father.” (Joh 1:1-3, 14)

That his sonship did not begin with his human birth is seen from Jesus’ own statements, as when he said, “What things I have seen with my Father I speak” (Joh 8:38, 42; compare Joh 17:5, 24), as well as from other clear statements of his inspired apostles.—Ro 8:3; Ga 4:4; 1Jo 4:9-11, 14.

Mt 8:29 “What have we to do with you, Son of God?”

(Mark 3:11) Even the unclean spirits, whenever they saw him, would fall down before him and cry out and say: “You are the Son of God.”

(Mark 5:7) Then he cried out with a loud voice: “What have I to do with you, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I put you under oath by God not to torment me.”

(Luke 4:41) Demons also came out of many, crying out and saying: “You are the Son of God.” But rebuking them, he would not permit them to speak, for they knew him to be the Christ.

(Mark 3:11) Even the unclean spirits, whenever they saw him, would fall down before him and cry out and say: “You are the Son of God.”

Matthew 17:5 While he was still speaking, look! a bright cloud overshadowed them, and look! a voice out of the cloud said: “This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved. Listen to him.”

(Mark 9:7) And a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud: “This is my Son, the beloved. Listen to him.”

(Luke 9:35) Then a voice came out of the cloud, saying: “This is my Son, the one who has been chosen. Listen to him.”

However, He is agreeing that He is good, but bringing to their attention that this goodness is from the Father and the good they see in Him is because He is light from light, true God from true God.He was saying that if people recognize that He is good then they should know that He is God. They should recognize that God is the source of goodness, not man. What you are trying to comprehend in your finite mind is impossible. If you could, then you would be God. Christ is one with the Father and the Holy Spirit. They are God in one. The theology of the trinity is our finite ability to try and grasp the revelation of God in the Father, in the Son and in the Holy Spirit in the only Word that is God's written word to man. it is the most blessed and perfect unity, unfathomable. For the One True God will always be unfathomable!

Short answer, He is both. God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself.

Long answer, He is both.

In Luke Jesus quoted isa 61:1 and said he fulfilled it right then...

17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:

18 “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me,

Because He has anointed Me

To preach the gospel to the poor;

He has sent Me [i]to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives

And recovery of sight to the blind,

To set at liberty those who are [j]oppressed;

19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

If you read the same passage from Isaiah down to verse 8. The speaker (obviously Jesus) says ... “For I the LORD love Justice...”

Now ask yourself, when, where, did the speaker change?

Isaiah 61:1-8

The Spirit of the LORD God is upon Me,

Because the Lord has anointed Me

To preach good tidings to the poor;

He has sent Me to [a]heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives,

And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,

And the day of vengeance of our God;

To comfort all who mourn,

3 To [b]console those who mourn in Zion,

To give them beauty for ashes,

The oil of joy for mourning,

The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;

That they may be called trees of righteousness,

The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”

4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins,

They shall raise up the former desolations,

And they shall repair the ruined cities,

The desolations of many generations.

5 Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks,

And the sons of the foreigner

Shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.

6 But you shall be named the priests of the Lord,

They shall call you the servants of our God.

You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles,

And in their glory you shall boast.

7 Instead of your shame you shall have double honor,

And instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion.

Therefore in their land they shall possess double;

Everlasting joy shall be theirs.

8 “For I, the LORD love justice;...”

Notice in verse 1 Jesus speaking, “the spirit of the LORD is upon (me).

And in verse 8 “I the LORD”

When did the speaker change?

'God' is a title, not a name. God has chosen to exist as three persons. All are equally God, but not equal in power. The Father is greater than the Son, and the Son is greater than the Person of The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit of God is everywhere all at once. God the Father is on His throne in Heaven, and Jesus the Son of God is seated with Him: One God, triune in nature. God is the Life Force that created the galaxies. He entered into His creation as one of us; to get us into a relationship with Himself.

Note: it is not quiet as simple as I have made it out to be here. I have worded it for the masses.

Jesus called himself “Teacher and Lord”. Go to him and see what he has to teach you. If in fact he is the “Lord” he claims to be, then he himself will reveal that fact to you. He doesn’t need me to convince you of his deity.

Jesus is BOTH God and Man.  Jesus is Everlasting Father (Isaiah) - that makes Him God.  He said, "If you do not believe that I am HE you will die in your sins (John 8: 24).  In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God AND THE wORD WAS GOD because Jesus is our Creator, everything was made by Him and through Him and for Him and nothing was made without Him (John 1: 1-3).  Jesus is totally ONE WITH THE FATHER (John 10:30). because Jesus is IN THE FATHER, and the Father IS IN JESUS CHRIST (John 17: 21 & 23).  God is a Spirit so He is invisible, that's why God came to earth in a Man Jesus Christ, God in Flesh (John 1:14), so that He could converse, fellowship, and help human beings and then die for our sins on the Cross of Calvary.  Jesus Christ - being God, is perfect, therefore He was the only One who could be our perfect, spotless Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

Hebrews 1

1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.

7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

Jesus is the personified model of God, along with the Holy Spirit, God is just ONE.

Yes it is difficult to understand, but since we are all an 'image of God' therefore we all have - 'a persona, an entity as well as a self' and all of these are into just  ONE BEING.

I don't believe in the teaching of the trinity if I did I would be confused too. In the bible it says that Jesus is God's son they are not the same being. Jesus and Jehovah God talk about each other as individuals so if you were talking to yourself how would that even make sense? I understand why you are confused. Let's look at some scriptures though. John 14:6 says "Jesus said to him: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me". So if Jesus is the father he was talking about himself? That's confusing. I think that you should ask you religious leader where exactly in the bible does it say Jesus and God are one then ask them to show you where Jesus or God speaks as if they are one. Talking in first person and about themselves as they are one. If you don't have one do some research in your bible instead. If you can't find one or both of the two things above you know your answer.

There is no trinity as the Catholic/ Babylonian hierarchy states, which is part of their mult-god system.

 The Protestant Christians (protesting the Catholic hierarchy of lies) have forgotten the spirit world of God, which is the Source of truth and in place of this have perverted the Holy Scriptures to the point of avoiding the First Commandment of God's Ten Commandments, "I am God alone, you will have no Gods except Me".

Jesus the Christ (Savior) is the Son of God, created by God, and through whom all the rest of creation was made.

 Jesus is NOT God. Jesus even said, "I ascend to my God and your God and my Father and your Father."

 GodsGrandPlan.org has a book titled "Communication with the Spirit World of God, It's Laws and Purpose" (1932) by Johannes Greber, a fantastic book on the evidence of how to communicate with God's holy spirits and to discern the Scriptures truthfully.

He is both. The son of a human is also human, so the Son of God is also God. But as there is only one God, the Father and the Son are united as One God (but separate persons).

John 5:18 makes it clear what the term "Son of God" implies:

"Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God."

It doesn't say that the Jews misunderstood the term. They correctly understood that Jesus was saying He was fully equal to God, they just didn't want to believe Him.

See also John 10:30-33,

"30 I and my Father are one.

31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.

32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God."

Now Jesus was a skilled orator, and it is inconceivable that the Jews to whom He was speaking were misunderstanding what he was saying. Whenever any prophet or apostles bowed down to an angel of God the angel would immediately make it clear that only God was to be worshiped.

The confusion comes about because throughout the history of Christianity people have tried alternate theories to avoid acknowledging Jesus as God. Arianism is one of the more prominent ideas: this is the idea that Jesus was created before everything else was created. When Pastor Russell founded the Jehovah's Witnesses in the 19th century he revived Arianism in order to make his church unique.

The Jehovah's Witnesses are disproportionately represented on this website. They exist in order to cause confusion (though the rank and file don't realise it); people outside Christianity use it as an excuse to say that Christians don't know what they believe. But at the Council of Nicea in 325 AD the vote for a Trinitarian view of Christ was 316 to two, which is a pretty definite majority.

The idea that God created His Son, like Frankenstein created a "son" in his laboratory, is ridiculous.

Ancient Jewish writings: YAHWEH, the Heavenly Father of your fathers, the Mighty One of Abraham, the Mighty One of Isaac, and the Mighty One of Yaaqob, has sent me to you. THIS IS MY NAME FOREVER and this is MY MEMORIAL: the Name by which I am to be remembered by, from generation to generation, for all generations.'

Reason almighty and mighty are same in meaning. So, Jw made a grave error  and cannot capitalize, or pity almighty against mighty... they are the same.

The concept of the trinity originated in the third century at the council of Nicaea in May 20, 325 c.e.  Prior to this, trinitarian ideas were unknown among christians. This is another example of pagan ideologies being absorbed into and corrupting the early christian congregations. The teachings of the trinity have been around for so long now that people simply assume that it must be true without even having examined its true origins. Take a look at the proof for yourself at the links below.

Every educated person is.  Thats my guess.  You see I dont know who or what God is and when I dont know something I dont pretend to know.  According to our Bibles from Genesis to Revelation God is a complex of 3 personalities, namely the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.  This belief system carries itself into other religions so theres something to that.  I think God is a lot more complex than that, perhaps when we get to know Him we will be amazed at how little we do know Him.  The Challenge arises when we attempt to understand that complex in human terms.  I know this doesnt really answer your question and what im saying is there is no concrete answer available at this time

Jesus is the son of God according to Matthew 26:39. It reads "And going a little way forward, he fell face down, praying: “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me. Yet, not as I will, but as you will.” This scripture shows they are two distinct individuals. If they were not two individuals, this prayer would be meaningless and Jesus would have been praying to himself.

Also John 8:17, 18 reinforces the fact that Jesus is the son of God. It reads "Also, in your own Law it is written: ‘The witness of two men is true.’ I am one who bears witness about myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness about me.”

“My Father is greater than I [Jesus].”—John 14:28

Jesus is Jehovah God´s first creation (Col 1:15) Therefore, he´s not God but the only-begotten Son of God.

Revelation 3:14

English Standard Version

“And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: ‘The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s creation.

American King James Version

And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things said the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

Many high-learned scholars agree that "wisdom" personified at Proverbs 8:22 is an actual reference to the Word (the Logos), pre-human Jesus

Proverbs 8:22

New International Version

"The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old;

Good News Translation

"The LORD created me first of all, the first of his works, long ago.

NET Bible

The LORD created me as the beginning of his works, before his deeds of long ago.

Aramaic Bible in Plain English

“Lord Jehovah created me at the beginning of his creation and from before all of his works.”

of course you are ! the entire christian world didn't know who jesus was, and his disciples didn't even understand him with the scriptures even after walking with him for 3 yrs. something like that. the people in the different churches debated Jesus till the council of nicea. and then THEY "voted" on it. there was no prophecy and after they voted on it, some made it a death penalty for the nay-sayers like Athanasius.

after not being raised in any religion, and after being a convert to the bible i believed what i was taugth. the trinity with the 3in1definition. like the egg has 3 parts, the earth is ruled by three, and yet the egg has four parts. and the godhead is open to invitation see Rev 3:21 kjv.

so, i learned the trinity is not true doctrine. see John 8:42. and read comparison between being one with God in John 10:30 and John 17:15-27. i dont believe in the trinity. and knowing these verses helps to discern the godhead. and if the entire christian world believed in the trinity, it would not make it true if the godhead is open to the apostles and to all those that believe in their words. at first the godhead is open to invitation to the 14 disciples and then to all those that believe and then its an open invitation to everyone that "overcomes" all things.

God impregnated a woman against her will or wishes, then he was born in human form, then sacrificed himself while he was watching and refusing to help, all so that we could live terrible lives and apologize in the end and get into the club like a douche who sneaks in while the bouncer is on break.

God was Jesus until the torture started, at which point God left to get the paper. God became Jesus again after the rough stuff was over.

He's clearly both these, chief.

1 Timothy 3:16 KJV — And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

We werent meant to understand God, only to believe him.

Jesus is both the Father AND Son of David.

Revelation 22:16 KJV — I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

How can that be.

John 8:58 KJV — Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
