Question:
Where does the Bible contradict itself?
Anonymous

I have written on 3 different Yahoo! Answers about the Bible. It was written through 40 different men including Kings, Shepherds, Prophets, Disciples of Jesus Christ, Tax Collectors, etc. In addition, it was written over a period of 4,000 years. This can be proven because Israel handed down the OT books throughout its history.

Anyway, the amazing thing is that it never contradicts itself. I find this to be not only evidence, but proof of a creator. How could this be done without God?

However, whenever I write this, you Atheists write that it does contradict itself. So I ask you to find places it does that in.

I have a feeling that the verses you'll list are out of context, please keep this in mind and don't twist the Bible to fit yourself. I want real answers.

You are right, the Bible doesn't contradict itself. People take certain things out of context and don't know how to put it all together. There are some challenging verses and passages...but would you think anything else about the Book that tells us about our infinite God?

For the one response....smart guy...the Bible capitalized with a "B" is the canonized books that Christians consider holy...there is only ONE. There are different translations, but only ONE Bible.

Now that is a fantasy to be sure; written over 4000 years is about as flawed as possible!

The reason there is no writings from the Israelite/Jews until about 270 BCE is because there was no Judaism until then. The reason Genesis parallels Babylonian history fable, myth and allegory is because Genesis was inspired from Babylonian legends written by Berossus.

The reason Exodus including the qualities of the God(s) parallels Egyptian mythology is because it was written based on the Egyptian history book by Manetho which was written a few years before the first draft of exodus.

The reason the New Testament parallels the tales of Greeks and Roman myths, especially Appolinus of Tyana and the wisdom sayings of Sextus, is because that was where the tales came from.

The only thing amazing about the Bible is that there are still people ignorant enough to take it at face value!

It is mentioned in Ezra, Ch. No.2, Verse No.1, and

Nehemiah, Ch. No.7, Verse No.6, the context that… ‘When the people returned from exile, from

Babylon , when king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, when he released the men from Israel , they

came back from captivity’ - and the list of the people are given. The list is given in Ezra, Ch. No.2,

Verse No.2 to 63, and Nehemiah Ch. No.7, Verse No.7 up to 65; the list is given with the names as

well as number of people released. In these 60 Verses there are no less than 18 times - the name

is exactly the same but the number is different. Further it is mentioned in

Ezra, Ch. No.2 Verse No.64 that… ‘The total congregation, if you add up… if you add up, it comes to 42,360.’ And if you read in Nehemiah , Ch. No.7, Verse No.66, there also the total is the same

42,360. But if you add up in Ezra the total comes 29818 and in Nehemiah the total is 31089

Ezra Ch. No. 2, Verse No. 65, it says…There were 200 singing men and women

Nehemiah Ch. No. 7, Verse No. 67…‘There were 245 singing men and women

2nd Kings , Ch. 24, Verse No 8, that…‘Jehoiachin was 18 years old, when he began to reign Jerusalem , and he reigned for 3 months.

2nd Chronicles , Ch.36, Verse No 9, says that…‘Jehoiachin was 8 years old when he began to reign and he reigned for 3 months, 10 days.

1st Kings , Ch. No 7, Verse No 26, that…‘In Solomon’s temple, in his

molten sea, he had 2000 baths.

In 2nd Chronicles , Ch. No 4, Verse No 5, he had 3000 baths

1st Kings, Ch. No. 15, Verse No. 33, that… ‘Basha, he died in

the 26th year of reign of Asa.’ And 2nd Chronicles Ch. No 16, Verse No 1, says that…‘Basha invaded

Judah in the 36th years of the reign of Asa.’ How can Basha invade 10 years after his death

The Bible was written by primitive men who believed that the Earth was flat and covered by a large solid dome called the firmament.

There's no reliable evidence for Jesus, Yahweh, Moses or Abraham -- the main characters of the Bible. See the 1st two links.

Matt 24:25, Mark 13:30, Luke 24:32 ". . . this technology shall no longer bypass till a number of those issues be performed." Jesus grew to become into telling his disciples that "temple could be destroyed, wars, calamities, fake prophets, and then he could look above the cloud in triumph throughout the top days, till now the dying of his disciples." a number of those have been reiterated in each and all the three gospels. yet his disciples died 2000 years in the past. end days did no longer ensue, and Jesus lied approximately it or the gospel writers lied approximately it. despite the case, that's the wonderful contradiction of all. because of fact Jesus isn't a god in any different case how could desire to a god be incorrect approximately his own prophecy? Or the bible is merely a e book of lies! EDIT: do no longer attempt to apply sophistry on on line communicate board. THIS technology talked approximately the technology of his disciples, and there is not any different meaning. Such denials as quickly as back proves that Christians lie just to justify their god.

There are too many contradictions to list here but there are lots of resources available from a quick goodle search that will list them one by one.

By your argument, "The Lord of the Rings" or any other book that has many authors but no contradictions are proof that they were in fact written by God. I can see an obvious flaw in this logic.

"don't twist the Bible to fit yourself"

So essentially what you are saying is that you want evidence of where the Bible contradicts itself but we cant use places where the Bible contradicts itself as evidence?

Yes, that sound like twisted Bible-bashing logic.

There are actually a few occurrence of contradictions, mainly amongst the New Testament, where writers are describing the same thing. However in terms of the main themes and doctrines, no, there are no contradictions.

And yes, that is taken as proof that the Bible is guided and controlled by God. if it was by man, then there would be a lot of obvious problems.
