You do want a perspective that makes sense, don't you? I mean, you're not one of those fools who let their emotions dictate what they will and won't perceive, are you?

I was born into the Catholic cult. Then I grew up and accepted reality, aka atheism.

I figured out Easter Bunnies and magic god fairies are not real.

I'm just curious Mr. Banana, would you write: "For me, atheism is just a withholding of judgement on THE EASTER BUNNY'S existence until the evidence is better."?

And if you wouldn't say something that ridiculous why would you say the same thing about a magic god fairy? Do you think magic god fairies are more likely than magical rabbits?

I ask this question because I noticed this website is infested with fake atheists. A real atheist would never say something as ridiculous as "until the evidence is better" when talking about magical beings.

Dave D is a typical god-soaked idiot. He believes in magic. That's what these cults are all about, it's nothing but magic, magic, magic. These people are about as stupid as a moron can be.

ATHEISM IS NOT A RELIGION!

Dear gods, man. it's NOT that HARD!

Religion is defined as being the belief in a cosmic, all-powerful super-entity and atheism is entirely NOT that!

to say that Atheism is a religion is to say that Abstinence is a sex position or bald is a hair color.

People tell us we should be bowing, grovelling and giving up a percentage of our income to something silent, invisible and otherwise questionable, atheists are just the people who stand up and say "but the emperor isn't wearing any clothes", we can clearly see that there's no good reason to believe and not even their bribe/threat of salvation/damnation is a good reason in the slightest.

it's not a religion, it is a philosophical standpoint where proof is held in a higher esteem than faith.

this is all part of a growing, terribly stupid trend where people are saying that believing in climate change is a religion or gay rights is a religion.

we're about a week away from someone saying that not hating foreigners is a religion.

Still, if people want to call Atheism a religion, then we get to have farcical, innane and questionable rituals like any other religion.

ATHEISTS! HEAR ME!

the next time you're in the presence of someone who claims that atheism is a religion, you have the right, nay, the honor of splashing them with water and saying they are now Un-Baptized!

if you have a water-pistol or a super-soaker on your person at the time, so much the better!

How do you try a religion? "Hi, I'm a Christian, on a trial basis."

Atheism isn't a religion. I'm an atheist because there is no evidence to support any religious belief.

Yes. I am looking for sense and logic to explain my life experiences. The ONLY thing I have found which does make everything make sense is when I abandoned the my idiotic childhood atheism and discovered God for myself. One of the many things I have personally experienced is when I witnessed a teenage boy whom I personally knew was deaf from birth receive the gift of hearing from the touch and the prayer of a healing priest in Worcester, MA. There is no mistake in what I witnessed, nor is anything I am saying a lie. So please explain to me how atheism "makes sense" of that. There is far, far more in this world than your limited view can account for.

It's not that atheism makes sense, but that atheism is now my default position because all the religions have too many plot holes.

For me, atheism is just a withholding of judgement on God's existence until the evidence is better.

As a Christian, I've tried very hard to wrap my head around atheism. I've tried to understand how anyone can believe there is no God and reject His Word. I've looked hard, long and objectively at the various reasons atheists give for not believing so I can find at least a miniscule amount of rational thought in rejecting our Creator. I cannot, for the life of me, find that speck of rational thought.

Atheism is not the opposite of religious.

Plenty of religions are non theistic, and plenty of theists don't subscribe to any religion.

How bizarre that at least two people here deny that:

There are religions that don't require any beliefs in gods

People can be irreligious but believe there is a god

Worrying, in fact.

Matter of fact, I attended Bible College to prepare for a career as a pastor when I came to realize religion - in particular, Christianity - is one massive crock of bull crap!

I was an atheist until I was 33.

Atheism doesn't really make sense.

You obviously have NOT looked up either RELIGION or ATHEIST, have you? The atheist lacks a belief in a deity while a religion requires it. I'm talking polar opposites.

yeah i have. Religions have some good ideas but realistically they don't make any sense

Atheism on its own is boring.
