Atheists do you ever try to help encourage god-believers to keep their faith?

I mean every once in a while I will, if there were no more god-believers... I... I... I'd lose my favorite pass time... *cries*

No. After we finally rid ourselves of primitive superstitious religions, we have a lot more even more important problems to solve. But, we have to solve this one, first.

i always questions God believers when they start to doubt if there is a god. I'll ask them how do they know there is no God? What has changed? I've helped some people keep their faith by making them doubt their doubts. Why did I do this?
Because I wish I still had faith. It's nice to believe in something. Just like when we were kids and believed in Santa Clause. It was a sad year when I realized he didn't exist.
You're not hurting anyone by believing in anything. You have the right to believe whatever you want to believe and no one should force their beliefs on you. It really doesn't matter when we die.

I don't proselytize. I won't encourage you to keep your faith. The only time I would encourage you, is if you were in a time of crisis and needed some form of support. On the other hand, if you challenge my fate, I will debate with you and end you.

It depends on the person. Some seem to really need to believe in something just to function in life. You see that here all the time in their questions and answers...
I have nothing against them doing so as long as they do no harm or expect others to 'believe' with them... or try to force their religious 'beliefs' on others..

Well I don't say that they should just ignore every idea I have, but I do occasionally tell them that they should believe in what they want to and be unafraid of deviating from whatever religious standard they are given.

No, but I have stopped trying to convince one person before - even though I was convincing them. I figured out over the course of the exchange that so much of their identity and emotional well-being was bundled up in religion - so I stopped.

The theists who claim that everyone would be murderers and rapists without the bible for a moral guide are hands off in my book. They seem too sincere in their beliefs to take the chance.

I have actually done it here if the question was genuine and thoughtful... But of course I am an Atheist and as soon as they find out my answer MUST be wrong!!

Only for those who insist that they would spend all their time raping and murdering and robbing if they didn't fear retribution from an imagined deity. Some kinds of crazy are better than other kinds.

I neither encourage people to drop their religion nor do I want them to keep it. I just present information to people and let them make their own decision.

I've done so before. It isn't often that it comes about, though. I think your past-time is safe for a long time in here.

As long as there are people who are gullible, credulous, delusional and not too bright, they have a place in some Abrahamic religion.

I don't tell people what to do. I just challenge religious ideas.

Considering there are about 1.1 billion Catholics alone, I don't think we're gonna have that problem.
