Somewhat of a dumb comment... sorry.
No-one who is contemplating suicide is really thinking about such philosophical arguments, and those in despair deep enough to consider taking their lives are not concerned with any thoughts of another life to come.
Suicide is a state in which a person is in such deep pain (emotional or physical or both) that the only thought is the elimination of that pain. Some idiots would tell them "it's a permanent solution to a temporary problem". Exactly what the person considering suicide is looking for is that permanent solution. The thought of another life would only lead to the possibility that the next life would not include the present pain.
No models of afterlife, other than the prospect of some hell, guarantee that there will be greater pain. The concept of hell, used by many Christians as some threat to those considering suicide is ill conceived. Even among Christians, there is this consistent idea that suidice is something that someone chooses. They fail to realize that suicide is the final stage in a deadly disease called mental illness. It is not a rational decision, but one resulting from a thinking that has been altered by disease.
Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Borderline Personality Disorder and other mental illnesses can lead people to suicide. Religion, including Christianity, offer no real treatment to these disorders. Medication and psychotherapy help in most cases, but some resist treatment.
If you know someone considering suicide, please don't confront them with stupid statements such as in this question. Please help them by finding assistance, such as a therapist, community mental health center, etc. Religious arguments about the potential consequences aren't going to help... they will serve only to alienate you from someone who is seriously ill.
Please think folks.
