What is the difference between "to call" and "to bid" mean in this case?

It's like saying "hey!" and "come here little girl, I have some free candy!"

To bid someone do something is to ask or, depending on the context command, their action. Call me, in this context, is actually used as it would be with a telephone, not as it would be with a call to service. While one might see "answering the call" as similar to doing what one is bid, that is not how it is used in this verse. This is more like "give me a call and ask me out."

"At the hour of death" is your appointed time to SPIRITUALLY follow Christ while still living in this world.

Jesus is knocking on your door.....He has created a situation in your life ..whether you have become completely miserable and feel you cant go on this way ...or perhaps face a literal life or death situation.

He is calling you out to follow Him. It is your "calling".



"And bid me come to You"...... is agreeing to let Him draw you toward God, through Him(Christ). You agree that it be according to God's will and not of your own.



Surrendering your will in your life for God's will in your life...is to willingly submit to the new covenant of grace which was the entire purpose of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ...which means to live by the will of God and not of our own (human/earthly) will.
