What does this mean?

It's from an old English folk song which goes:

The common cormorant or SHAG,

lays eggs inside a paper BAG.

which really is an awful DRAG

They must be bloody MAD



So rather than sing the whole verse they took the last word of each line and added -ism to it - a sort of musical shorthand!

isms are cults of ideological indoctrination. their followers believe them blindly and generally infer superiority for their ism over all other potential ideological competitors. note: Christianity ends in "anity" not "ism" unlike "Athe-ism".
