In YOUR opinion

Me... I am a huge fan of Tolstoy... and I detest Shakespeare
To me, Shakespeare sounds immoral and some-what agnostic
While Tolstoy's works embody a sound, firm principle in Christian ethics...
His works are very talented... but his sole is something of greater caliber

Your opinions please

What makes the connection for me is the work of Salvador Dali in his 1951 painting, "Christ of St John of the Cross". This oil painting is in Glasgow City Council Museum. When it was on display, earlier, in Dublin, it was slashed, being considered so radical / idolatrous at the time by some.

But the awesome, silent depiction of that cross held high in the darkness, above the lake of Galilee with the boat, and the fishermen apparently oblivious to the magnitude of God, in Christ coming down for them, renders me speechless. Says it all, I reckon (well, it would if Dali then did a sequal showing the empty tomb! But, one painting at a time.)

Karl Marx

Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.
