Are you still a Christian, if you aren't 100% sure of God's existence?

Question

It seems to me that whenever I talk to Christians, they have no doubts that God is real. Take my brother for example. He is entirely confident of God's existence, and even if there was hard evidence against it, he would still believe. Personally, I find that close-minded. I THINK that God is real, and I'm almost sure, but I don't want to completely rule out other possibilities. Does that make me non-Christian or immoral?

I know where you're coming from. A couple of years ago, I believe in God, but I wasn't 100% sure if He's really there. I had doubts and it mostly was about maybe I just need to believe in Him and that's the reason why I do. The Bible, after a while, didn't help and it made me really sad and confused.



But now, looking back, I think what I wasn't sure of was How to see God in direct relation to me. I was looking for God's face in more than just the metaphysical sense. After some things He led me through, I now see him as a a strict but loving grandfather who cannot bear to see us suffer, but wants us to learn and love Him more. Now everything that exists in this world shows me a part of God's face.



He's there, and you'll find Him. Just don't stop looking or believing.

In terms of where you are with Christ i can't make a judgment on that. But i think from what you're sharing it probably means that you might want to study your Bible more -- in the book of 1 John- the Bible tells the believer that we should be certain of our relationship with God and the Holy Spirit is the witness of it.



i would suggest not trying to figure out if you're a non-Christian or not but to find out what it means to be a Christian and to follow Christ. We're all immoral sinners without the forgiveness of Christ- so i guess the question would be have you received and put your faith in Christ and His work on the cross???



i think that Christians from time-to-time will question or doubt their faith and their are certainly questions that we may have from time-to-time, but it's also a matter of what you do with them. i commend you for asking your questions on Yahoo Answers -- it really shows a sincere heart to want to know the truth,... but i would also suggest getting your answers about God from God Himself (His Word- the Bible) and not just from people's opinions.

That makes you curious. You want to truly find God and not accept God as he is hand delivered to you by others. Go with it and discover God yourself.

The second answerer, is a perfect example of a self-righteous person. His attitude is not what Christ wants from him. He's a "proud Christian" isn't that contrary to Christ teachings. We have nothing to be proud of. Salvation is completely from God, he is the author and finisher of our faith. It is a free gift from God. Christians should be meek and humble, not proud. That is completely contrary to what a Christian is supposed to be.





Hey Snowbunny, you are doing good, as long as you are seeking truth. Don't let self-righteous Christians say you are a bad person, we are all bad people.



Just keep seeking the truth, keep using your brain to think, that is why God gave it to you, and just keep asking God to help your doubts. Just tell God what you are feeling in your heart, any doubt you have he already knows and understands. God is not looking for perfect people with no doubts, he is looking for sincere people who are honest with themselves and honest with him.

I think you just have doubts and need to find out for yourself. To say that someone is closed minded is wrong. I had doubts at one time if God existed and if the Jesus was God, but the more I researched, the more that it led back to God. I never bought into evolution, because it answered nothing for me. Life from nothing did not work for me. It skipped the first step and came to conclusions. So I studied the Bible and saw the prophecies that Jesus fulfilled. So to say that I am closed minded because I have strong conviction in my conclusion is inaccurate. You just need to search more. I can say looking back that I was not spiritually part of God at my time of doubt.
