Question:
If Jesus is God and God is Jesus, plus the holy spirit, then why do you need Jesus to get to God?

I'm Jewish and although I try to understand others and their religion/customs/etc. I never have been able to understand the Christian belief that in order to get to heaven or to be close to God you need to accept his "son" as your saviour. If Jesus is God and God is Jesus then why the need to accept the son if he is the father. And I've never ran accross a single Christian who has been able to explain this to me, maybe your the first?

If Jesus is God and God is Jesus, then if you don't have one, you don't have the other. How can you say you know your wife, for instance, if you don't acknowledge and love a major part of her, a part of her that defines who she is?

If you say you know God, you must know Jesus. If you don't know Jesus, then you can't know God. Father, Son, Holy Spirit...three in one. You must have all to have one.

According to Hebrews, Christ is the final sacrifice- an end to the need for the high priest to go into the Holy of Holies every year and offer sacrifices for the sins of the people. When His sacrifice was complete, the old system had been fully and completely nullified. Christ Himself became the High Priest that did away with the shadow of the former and imperfect practice of offering forgiveness to the people. In this, Christ's sacrifice has become the perfect and acceptable sacrifice before God for all of time until the end (whenever that is.). This is why there is no other way to the "father" (creator) and eternal salvation.

They are 3 in 1, the same way as a mother, father, and child are 3 different people with 3 different roles but make up one family. Because people are so far away from god and sin so much, we are not worthy to come to god on our own... but through Jesus we can. The reason is because Jesus was the unspotted lamb, the sacrifice for our sins. We must get forgiveness in the name of Jesus, become sinless and then be able to come to god. God demands blood for life, that is where the sacrifice comes in... I don't completely understand it either, but there isn't anything wrong with learning as much as you can right!? So did that make sense? I hope so...

Good luck

it is more so that you have to accept the sacrifice that Jesus made while he was here on earth. See in the begining atonement from sins was brought through sacrificing a lamb unto God. Christians believe Jesus is the lamb of God. the final sacrifice to be made for forgivness... so there was no longer a need for any other sacrifce because he willingly paid the price for our sins. Through the acceptance of him we can have forgiveness of our sins. Because we all not that God is holy so in order to commune with him we must be sinless and holy.... but we are humans and screw ups and could never really attain that. SO Jesus said I'll make the sacrifice, so that through him we can be forgiven and have access to the father. What you really don't understand is the concept of the trinity. God in three persons. The father, the son and the holy spirit. That may be more what you need explained.

Although I am 100% christian... many people do not accept the trinity. The don't believe Jesus is God. they continue that he is the son of God. is only begotten son. The bible says for God so loved the World he gave his only begotten son. Modern Christians just group Jesus, God and the Holy spirit together as the trinity. what they did before now i dunno. But in order to fully explain the trinity to you in a way that would be accurate and understandably I would have to be a biblical theologin.

Greek theologists organized Christianism with 3 godnesses – God, Son and Holy Ghost.

And the Early Middle Age added a fourth godness: Maria.

And the Curch Fathers recruted a heaven staff of numerous Angels and Saints.

While I am not a Christian, I agree that the non-Trinitarian view of God seems more sensible. You might want to look at the non-Trinitarian versions of Christianity.

I would suggest looking into these Christian churches which are all non-Trinitarian: Jehovah's Witnesses, Christadelphians, Bible Students, American Unitarian Conference, Arian Catholic Church, Oneness (or Apostolic) Pentecostal, UU (Unitarian Universalist) Christian Fellowship, etc. Swedenborgianism (look up Swedenborg on Wikipedia) was also non-Trinitarian. I also believe the churches that sprang from Herbert Armstrong and retained his teachings are also non-Trinitarian (or unitarian - small "u").

While it is true that LDS Mormons do not believe in the Trinity, they have a doctrine of Godhead and eternal progression which is more polytheistic than monotheistic.

The godhead is comprised of THREE in ONE. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

God the SON put on human flesh and came into the world to die for the sins of mankind. "Without the shedding of blood there is NO forgiveness of sins." He is the ONE who satisfied the justice of the godhead by paying the wages of sin, which is DEATH. God satisfied His own justice in order to save those who will place their trust in the SIN BEARER.

As a Jew, you should understand the concept of atonement. The issue is that today, the Nation Israel has no "special status" with God. She is "lo ammi", or NOT MY PEOPLE. God has divorced her for her lack of fidelity to Him. The Nation Israel , God says, has been "concluded in UNBELIEF (with the Gentiles) so that God might have mercy upon ALL."

Today, Jew and Gentile alike come to God thru the Crosswork of GODS sacrificial lamb. Your sacrificial system of old was a mere shadow of the reality of God providing a sacrifice FOR YOU.One that would not have to be repeated year after year, but that would pay for all the sins of all the people for all time. What the blood of bulls and goats could NOT do, the blood of Christ DID. We are told that HIS blood didn't just atone for sins for a YEAR, but took away sins forever! Quite an improvement over the yearly sacrificial system of old, yes?

God did for all of us , what we could NOT do for ourselves. He became the spotless lamb that took away the sins of the world.

God will resume His program with the Nation Israel, after 'the fullness of the Gentiles is come in". Those who believe NOW, will be members of the Body of Christ and have their destination in heaven.

I hope this helps.

A) try to sort the heathen names out of the conversation. It will simplify things. B) the almighty is a spirit. And thus Michael (one like the Elohim) is also a spirit. In order to establish the absolute nature of right and wrong, it was agreed that the wages of sin is death. Unless you remain connected to the Almighty, you will die. Now if I die, I am gone. Since I am born less than perfect, (My parents can't pass on to me something they didn't have) then I am condemned to die. My only out is if someone is willing to pay that price, and die in my place. And, if any other person died for me, He would be gone. None less than the Almighty (Elohim) could die for all of us. Substitutionary (VICARIOUS) atonement. Since Elohim must die, in order for the world (universe) not to collapse when Elohim died, then there must be two. Messiah is called the "SON" of Elohim, but there was no mother, so I guess it was cloning. Since Messiah YAHOSHUA died for me it is real clear that He really cares for me. He said I could pray to the Father. Either works. Here is a visual aid: Think of the tree of life. Under the ground the roots grow together. Up in the air the branches grow together. It is one tree. We see two trunks. The two Elohim are one also in a greater sense than husband and wife are one. Yet, at the same time, they are two. When Messiah was here He prayed to His Father. Salvation is like a marriage contract offered from YHVH: Take His name, follow His rules, you become part of the "bride" of Messiah, and He will save you in the end. (It sounds very generous to me, but most folks refuse it) Hope that helps a little. e-mail me if you want.

youre asking the question in the wrong manner.

you should first define why people call jesus god, and yet jesus claimed to be the son of God but at the same time confirmed that he is the: "i am"

its like comparing The Word, which is jesus, to the word, which is scripture.

the scriptures are not alive but jesus is alive. You can't say the bible is jesus but it is called the word.

You can call the bible an idolatry depending on how you define idolatry and how a person uses the scriptures.

but you are correct Jesus proclaimed that in order to see the Father, that he himself would show him unto those that seek him. seek and ye shall find.

joseph smith jr. testified that he saw Jesus and God the Father side by side.

but people have spoken of joseph smith jr bot good and evil for 180 years.

when moses said he saw God face to face was it God? or was he the i am.

when job said he talked with God was there not 2 different persons that are mentioned as being God and LORD.?

you also have to define what the godhead really means. is the godhead only 3 beings that govern the entire universe? what about all the saviours on mt sion spoken of in obadiah? if there are many saviours and there are many planets, than 3 govern each planet. but God rules and governs above all the sons of god and saviours.

i dont know if this is correct but this is my opinion on studying the matter.

moses had a freindship with the LORD god, the same person as the: I am. the I am sits on the throne of God with all authority and power and judgment because God the FAther who gave the son the thrown knows the son will judge righteously.

the promise is extended to all of us who overcome that we will inherit all things and even the throne of God too. Now whether that means there is only one throne in all of the heavens and the galaxy and the universe thats another question but it shows to me that there is patriarchy and heirarchal priesthood that becomes the godhead.

now the godhead may consist of all the angels in heaven or just a limited group of angels thart are more sanctifed and justifed than others. but at least one scholar has taught that the godhead comprises of at least three different types of angels. and jesus said that when men are resurrected they become like the angels.

There is no way to God but through Jesus. Jesus died for us and so our sins can be forgiving, just like sin enter through one man disobedience (Adam). Adam let the devil deceive him and he became a slave to sin through the father of all lies (Satan). Jesus came to set us Free from sin because he was a Man with out sin (holy) but took upon our sins when he died for us. He didn't deserve to died because he was holy but he became a sacrifice for us. Therefore we are set free through our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus could of easily got up and called fire from heaven on those man who put him to death but he chose to be a sacrifice for us because he loves us that much. And Jesus is the Messiah, Immanuel, Alpha & Omega, King of Kings Lord of Lords, Prince of Peace, Saviour of the World, The Way, Bread of Life , Holy & Righteous One, Lord of Glory, The Most Holy, The Truth, And The Word of God. U Be Bless In Jesus Mighty Name.

All through the old testament there were sacrifices and traditions. And prophesy of the Savior. God became flesh through Jesus Christ. He was the ultimate sacrifice to live and die a sinless life. Now he is fully God again. God is Holy and the only way we can truly have a relationship with him is through the Holy spirit. We are all like filthy rags until God sees us through the sacrificed blood of Jesus. Come to the cross my friend and meet Jesus. Its all about truth. And what is in your heart. God bless

deerdancer, if you're a practicing Jew, the answer seems obvious. if"it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins" then we need God to provide Himself a sacrifice for our vicarious atonement. behold Jesus, the lamb of God... edit-yes,this is where the rubber meets the road Christianity says God did that. the sacrifice of the God-man is how he did it.Paul said this concept was a stumbling -block to the Jews
2007-12-29 12:51:51 UTC
If you're Jewish than you should know about the prophesy throughout the old testament of The Messiah . The so called Jews from what i under is still looking for the Messiah to come, They just didn't believe that Jesus was the Messiah.

Because of Adam's sin in the garden of Eden he became spiritually disconnected from God, so Adam no longer belonged to God, when he obeyed Satan he in effect made Satan his master. Remember God had given Adam dominion over the earth and everything on it, so when Adam bowed his knee to Satan, he effectively handed everything over to Satan including himself and Eve. So now everything that God had created belonged to Satan including Mankind. In order to reclaim his creation God,came up with a plan, the plan was to get a man on the earth who was pure, without spot, to pay the price for the sin of Adam or rather the sin of the world to and redeem man and all else from the Law of sin and death..Satan knew who Jesus was and God knew Satan and his blind evil lust to kill still and destory. So satan was suckered into killing Jesus who was spottless and without sin. Jesus accepted the sin of the world upon himself and the price He paid by dying on that cross and going to hell for 3 days and 3 night was the price paid in full and redeemed us, the earth and all of God's creation from the ownership of Satan. So Jesus bridged the gap between man and God, thats why Jesus is the the Life, the Door and the Way. So we, (mankind) whom God made free willed agents have a right to choose and when we choose to be with God and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, Satan is powerless to hold us, and if we choose to stay with satan God will respect our choice since it is He who gave you the right to choose. So Jesus paid the price for our sins with his pure, innocent shed blood...Only man has a right to choose so even though the earth and everything on it long to be free from Satan's death grip a the price has been paid for their redemption, Satan being an outlaw refuse to give it up. Thats why Jesus will return in due time to take it by force....

If you have a Son then your son is man or mankind so God's Son is God and Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God..God so loved the world he created that he gave his only begotten Son.. I hope this gives you a better understanding...Check out the verses below in sources....

Short answer? The Trinity was a creation, literally it was created at the Nicea Assembly in 325 A.D. when they decided that Jesus was God, the trinity was only created for that reason.

At the baptism of Yeshua/Jesus the correct words were, "Thou art my son, today have I begotten thee." Not "Thou art my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased." That was changed to support a lie, but there is so much evidence that points to the fact that it was edited, but will they ever correct this? Nope. The Fact is that Yeshua is the firstborn... and we have the capacity to become like him and has nothing to do with blind faith.

The ebonites whom were the followers of Yeshua in Jersualem felt that Yeshua , ""...was justified by fulfilling the Law. He was the Christ of God, since not one of the rest of mankind had observed the Law completely. Had any one else fulfilled the commandments of the Law, he would have been the Christ." Hence "when Ebionites thus fulfill the law, they are able to become Christs, for they assert that our Lord Himself was a man in like sense with all humanity." (Hippolytus, Refut. Omn. Haer. vii. 34).

There is no mention of a Trinity in the bible, in the 2 places where there was it by many scholar opinion was an addiction after the Nicea Assembly. The one mention of it in the epistle of John is known as a direct addiction and is excluded in most translations now.

The Modern Christians belief doesn't make sense and it isn't authentic Christianity as it existed in its primitive years, its mostly pagan now. Yeshua/Jesus is NOT his own father. Nor is he a pagan sacrifice. It's ridiculous.

Christ Jesus... is the New Testament.... PASSOVER LAMB!

(1Corinthians 5:7) Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ = our passover = is sacrificed for us:

As a Jew.... do you believe... THE SCRIPTURES? ? The Law of Moses?

(Hebrews 9:18-to-25) From which we see that neither was the first covenant dedicated without blood.

(Heb 9:19) For when = = Moses = = had spoken every precept to all the people according to the Law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,

(Heb 9:20) saying, "This is the blood of the covenant which God has enjoined to you."

(Heb 9:21) And likewise he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry.

(Heb 9:22) And almost all things are by the law purged with blood, and without shedding of blood is no remission.

(Heb 9:23) Therefore it was necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves were purified with better sacrifices than these.

(Heb 9:24) For Christ has not entered into the Holy of Holies made with hands, which are the figures of the true, but into Heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us.

(Heb 9:25) Nor yet that He should offer Himself often, even as the high priest enters into the Holy of Holies every year with the blood of others

Trusting.... "CHRIST AS YOUR SAVIOR".... Means Trusting ... IN THE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST..... One Sacrifice.... FOR ALL..... For.. ONE TIME..... For...."All Who TRUST HIM!"

It is beyond me how they can say this trinity is true. It makes no sense at all.

Of course you're never going to understand something you never tried.

When we make Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, we literally come into a real, active and meaningful relationship with Him.

The Holy Spirit abides inside us, directing us and teaching us, using the word of God as a guide for our every foot step along the way.

If we merely looked at Jesus as a admirable character that would not be enough for us to enter the new covenant God the father has provided to all mankind.

Because we are all filled with Sin, and that seperates us from God, Jesus went to the cross as a final sacrifice for our sins, in the O.T. they had burnt offerings, Jesus came as our Lamb, perfect without a spot, and went to the cross in place of us, for our sins, God is so Holy and Perfect, how could we be near God with sin, God sent His one and only Son in the flesh to resist temptation, to show us the truth, and as a sacrifice for us, out of Mercy.

Think of God the Father, Christ Jesus, and the Holy Spirit as three manifestations of the same One God.

Does not part of the Greatest Commandment stipulate that we are to love God with all our heart, mind, and soul? Does not each element in the Holy Trinity appeal to either the heart, mind, or soul?

It is easy to see how one can love God the Father with all our mind. It is easy to see how one can love Christ Jesus with all our heart. It is easy to see how one can love the Holy Spirit with all our soul.

Therefore, it should be easy to see that, if one finds themselves not in love with one or more manifestations of the Holy Trinity, it may very well be because one is not loving their God with all their mind, heart, soul. Something is missing.

By the way, merely being Jewish is not a sin. So I don't think you need to be concerned about going to hell simply because you are Jewish.

It just shows you that Christians aren't even sure who God is, or how many of "Him" there are. One (God) + One (Jesus) + One (Holy Spirit) = Three. God is ONE and ONE only.

"AND I EXPECT YOU TO ANSWER ME SINCE I ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION!"

Can you believe that guy who is commanding you to email him back? Who the hell does he think he is? Probably God since he's commanding people. Maybe you should email that "born again Christian" just to let him know he believes in a bunch of lies.

Though Jesus is the Son of God and God at the same time , we are still not redeemed , after the Fall of Man in Genesis , there was a wall separating us from God

God is Holy and as one can see sin grieves him , he '' cannot look upon sin '' , and since we have a sinful nature , due to the Fall of Man we don't '' have the credentials '' to know God

We have a debt we can't pay , in other words remember the Fall of Man , that debt is sin and sin separates us from God ... Jesus Christ came to earth to pay for our debt , he took our transgressions , our iniquity , sin ... Jesus Christ in a sense is the pathway to God

* Note *

God is holy , just , righteous

In other words imagine God at this very moment , do you believe that he would pardoned someone's sin just like that ?

And even if he did pardoned someone's sins ( for he is merciful ) we still have a sinful nature , we still are sinful , we still have sin and sin separates us from God , so we don't have much of a choice ( he is just )

God can forgive but can God erase our sins ?

It isn't so much whether or not he can forgive but can he '' forget '' ?

True God is our salvation but God simply cannot go against his very own nature , he just '' can't let us go the easy way '' , tolerate sin , say '' okay you can go into my domain '' , it's contradictory , if you do not believe me then you may search it for yourself if possible

The Universal Holy Spirit is infinite like the air we breath, and the sky, beyong our ability to measure it. Humanity is imbued with it in varying degrees.

well, in the old testiment people would offer up a pure sacrifice a lamb,or dove, and would only cover up sins.

and it was only once a year .however jesus was the last sacrifice and he was pure and that will forgive sins

the bible say in the book of first john 1:9 that if we confess our sins he is faithfull and just to forgive us our sins

In the Old testament Moses asked to see God's face, and the reply was, "no man can see my face and live". While in the wilderness God sent poisonous snakes to bite the unbeliving jews who constantly murmurred and complaint, once bitten, GOD had moses to make a bronze serpent, and if anyone would gaze upon it, they will be saved, Jesus Christ became that bronze serpent in theory, since nobody could see God's face and live, God sent His only begotten Son, or God in human form so that we can look towards Him and put our faith and trust in Him, so that we can be saved. I hope that this will be satisfactory to you. Best to you in your search for the truth.

Not Christian, although believe in Jesus. I believe Jesus is a key and light to knowing that God exist. I do not believe that Jesus is the "only" way. If you do believe in God who is LOVE, and build your relationship with GOD, this is all you need to move beyond and live in a positive way.

As you can see, the whole thing does not make sense at all.

It's like trying to empty the ocean with a bucket into a hole on the beach. You just won't get it. God is One, and all else is just to make believe. Jesus himself giving answer to someone who asked about the greatest of the commandments, he said that "God is One and the only Lord."
2007-12-29 12:02:47 UTC
I believe the greatest sacrifice that God could do is give us his fleshly tabernacle in sacrifice to end all burnt offerings..........For he said i don't wont your burnt sin offerings ......He said he wants our Love.

..........Now to to send someone else to die for you would not be THEE greatest sacrifice....This is why he had to do it himself.....It is he who suffered that is the Greatest....The greatest in the Kingdom of heaven is a Servant....So Christ is God in the Flesh.

A virgin will conceive and his name will be called Emmanuel " God with us"

Well i hope that made since in layman terms.

Just a thought to ponder.

Peace Out.

Jesus is not actually God. He is a part of God (his son). They are not the same. God sent his son Jesus to Earth to die for our sins. If Jesus had not died for our sins there would be no chance for any of us to go to heaven. If you are full of sin you cannot enter heaven. When Jesus sacrificed his life for us he wiped away all of our sins (past and future) so that we may have a chance at eternal life. After all Jesus has done for you, how can you not accept him? If you deny Jesus he will also deny you.

Isso é so mais uma contradiçao dessa doutrina da trindade, que nao tem base nenhuma, e so foi adotada no Concilio de Niceia, para etender aos interesses do imperador romano Constantino que fundou a igreja e deturpou o cristianismo .

Jesus is our Lord, he is the Son of God. And He is the only way to Heaven because He is the One who died for us and payed for our sins so that we could live. No one comes to the Father if not through the Son.

I was a christian for years and I could never figure it out.

They really threw me for a loop when they told me that Gods chosen people were not going to heaven if they did not accept Jesus.

Good luck, Email if anyone ever does explain it.

I think it's because Jesus is supposed to be an incarnate of god.

You always have to go through someone to get to the manager, and even then you never get through.

Could it just be that catholic dogma (among all christian and religious 'theory) is a confused joke? I think so.

Why go to god and sit next to him and be bored, When you can go to the devil and dance with him and have fun. :D

People ask me that all the time.

Would you rather dance with the devil

Or sit next to god.

God just sounds pretty boring to me.

(Remember) when the wife of 'Imran said: My Lord! I have vowed unto Thee that which is in my belly as a consecrated (offering). Accept it from me. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Hearer, the Knower! (35) And when she was delivered she said: My Lord! Lo! I am delivered of a female - Allah knew best of what she was delivered - the male is not as the female; and lo! I have named her Mary, and lo! I crave Thy protection for her and for her offspring from Satan the outcast. (36) And her Lord accepted her with full acceptance and vouchsafed to her a goodly growth; and made Zachariah her guardian. Whenever Zachariah went into the sanctuary where she was, he found that she had food. He said: O Mary! Whence cometh unto thee this (food)? She answered: It is from Allah. Allah giveth without stint to whom He will. (37) Then Zachariah prayed unto his Lord and said: My Lord! Bestow upon me of Thy bounty goodly offspring. Lo! Thou art the Hearer of Prayer. (38) And the angels called to him as he stood praying in the sanctuary: Allah giveth thee glad tidings of (a son whose name is) John, (who cometh) to confirm a word from Allah lordly, chaste, a prophet of the righteous. (39) He said: My Lord! How can I have a son when age hath overtaken me already and my wife is barren? (The angel) answered: So (it will be). Allah doeth what He will. (40) He said: My Lord! Appoint a token for me. (The angel) said: The token unto thee (shall be) that thou shalt not speak unto mankind three days except by signs. Remember thy Lord much, and praise (Him) in the early hours of night and morning. (41) And when the angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah hath chosen thee and made thee pure, and hath preferred thee above (all) the women of creation. (42) O Mary! Be obedient to thy Lord, prostrate thyself and bow with those who bow (in worship). (43) This is of the tidings of things hidden. We reveal it unto thee (Muhammad). Thou wast not present with them when they threw their pens (to know) which of them should be the guardian of Mary, nor wast thou present with them when they quarrelled (thereupon). (44) (And remember) when the angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a word from him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, illustrious in the world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought near (unto Allah). (45) He will speak unto mankind in his cradle and in his manhood, and he is of the righteous. (46) She said: My Lord! How can I have a child when no mortal hath touched me? He said: So (it will be). Allah createth what He will. If He decreeth a thing, He saith unto it only: Be! and it is. (47) And He will teach him the Scripture and wisdom, and the Torah and the Gospel, (48) And will make him a messenger unto the Children of Israel, (saying): Lo! I come unto you with a sign from your Lord. Lo! I fashion for you out of clay the likeness of a bird, and I breathe into it and it is a bird, by Allah's leave. I heal him who was born blind, and the leper, and I raise the dead, by Allah's leave. And I announce unto you what ye eat and what ye store up in your houses. Lo! herein verily is a portent for you, if ye are to be believers. (49) And (I come) confirming that which was before me of the Torah, and to make lawful some of that which was forbidden unto you. I come unto you with a sign from your Lord, so keep your duty to Allah and obey me. (50) Lo! Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path. (51) But when Jesus became conscious of their disbelief, he cried: Who will be my helpers in the cause of Allah? The disciples said: We will be Allah's helpers. We believe in Allah, and bear thou witness that we have surrendered (unto Him). (52) Our Lord! We believe in that which Thou hast revealed and we follow him whom Thou hast sent. Enrol us among those who witness (to the truth). (53) And they (the disbelievers) schemed, and Allah schemed (against them): and Allah is the best of schemers. (54) (And remember) when Allah said: O Jesus! Lo! I am gathering thee and causing thee to ascend unto Me, and am cleansing thee of those who disbelieve and am setting those who follow thee above those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then unto Me ye will (all) return, and I shall judge between you as to that wherein ye used to differ. (55) As for those who disbelieve I shall chastise them with a heavy chastisement in the world and the Hereafter; and they will have no helpers. (56) And as for those who believe and do good works, He will pay them their wages in full. Allah loveth not wrong-doers. (57) This (which) We recite unto thee is a revelation and a wise reminder. (58) Lo! the likeness of Jesus with Allah is as the likeness of Adam. He created him of dust, then He said unto him: Be! and he is. (59) (This is) the truth from thy Lord (O Muhammad), so be not thou of those who waver. (60) And whoso disputeth with thee concerning him, after the knowledge which hath come unto thee, say (unto him): Come! We will summon our sons and your sons, and our women and your women, and ourselves and yourselves, then we will pray humbly (to our Lord) and (solemnly) invoke the curse of Allah upon those who lie. (61) Lo! This verily is the true narrative. There is no God save Allah, and lo! Allah, is the Mighty, the Wise. (62) And if they turn away, then lo! Allah is Aware of (who are) the corrupters. (63) Say: O People of the Scripture! Come to an agreement between us and you: that we shall worship none but Allah, and that we shall ascribe no partner unto Him, and that none of us shall take others for lords beside Allah. And if they turn away, then say: Bear witness that we are they who have surrendered (unto Him). (64) O People of the Scripture! Why will ye argue about Abraham, when the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed till after him? Have ye then no sense? (65) Lo! ye are those who argue about that whereof ye have some knowledge: Why then argue ye concerning that whereof ye have no knowledge? Allah knoweth. Ye know not. (66) Abraham was not a Jew, nor yet a Christian; but he was an upright man who had surrendered (to Allah), and he was not of the idolaters. (67) Lo! those of mankind who have the best claim to Abraham are those who followed him, and this Prophet and those who believe (with him); and Allah is the Protecting Guardian of the believers. (68) A party of the People of the Scripture long to make you go astray; and they make none to go astray except themselves, but they perceive not. (69) O People of the Scripture! Why disbelieve ye in the revelations of Allah, when ye (yourselves) bear witness (to their truth)? (70) O People of the Scripture! Why confound ye truth with falsehood and knowingly conceal the truth? (71) And a party of the People of the Scripture say: Believe in that which hath been revealed unto those who believe at the opening of the day, and disbelieve at the end thereof, in order that they may return; (72) And believe not save in one who followeth your religion - Say (O Muhammad): Lo! the guidance is Allah's Guidance - that anyone is given the like of that which was given unto you or that they may argue with you in the presence of their Lord. Say (O Muhammad): Lo! the bounty is in Allah's hand. He bestoweth it on whom He will. Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing. (73) He selecteth for His mercy whom He will. Allah is of Infinite Bounty. (74) Among the People of the Scripture there is he who, if thou trust him with a weight of treasure, will return it to thee. And among them there is he who, if thou trust him with a piece of gold, will not return it to thee unless thou keep standing over him. That is because they say: We have no duty to the Gentiles. They speak a lie concerning Allah knowingly. (75) Nay, but (the chosen of Allah is) he who fulfilleth his pledge and wardeth off (evil); for lo! Allah loveth those who ward off (evil). (76) Lo! those who purchase a small gain at the cost of Allah's covenant and their oaths, they have no portion in the Hereafter. Allah will neither speak to them nor look upon them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He make them grow. Theirs will be a painful doom. (77) And lo! there is a party of them who distort the Scripture with their tongues, that ye may think that what they say is from the Scripture, when it is not from the Scripture. And they say: It is from Allah, when it is not from Allah; and they speak a lie concerning Allah knowingly.
