Question:
Dawkins. Is He an Atheist Fundamentalist?
2013-01-02 11:56:31 UTC
P. Higgs, the famous scientist who theorized about the God Particle (Higgs Bosom?) accused him of being so. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/9770707/Has-Richard-Dawkins-found-a-worthy-opponent-at-last.html

So, spiritually speaking is Dawkins as nasty as religious fundmentalists?

Dawkins is an embarassment to atheism. He makes us look like those annoying born again street preachers.

Dawkins is a bit harsh.

Which does not make him wrong, by the way.

If you have to chose, would you rather be wrong and nice, or right and nasty?

Granted, right and nice is better.

But the religious fundamentalists are both wrong and nasty, which makes them the worst.

Some people do not like Dawkins because he does not appear to tolerate the fluffy thinking that Theists like to try to get away with. We are expected to be tolerant to other people's beliefs and he quite rightly asks "Why should we?" If I made an outlandish claim that I could not back up with evidence, my beliefs would not be tolerated.

I didn't know Dawkins was proposing anti-abortion laws, so women didn't have the right to choose.

I also didn't realize he was in support of marriage inequality, like most religious people are.

You're right! He's a nasty man, with an opinion that literally bothers nobody!

Do you understand what the words "Atheist fundamentalist" mean?

I don't think you do........it means means strictly adhering to not believing in God! There is no other doctrine or dogma associated with Atheism!

Still waiting for someone to tell me what the hell an "atheist fundamentalist" is. As though there are fundamentals to believing in nothing.

He rants like one.

He sees things in black and white like one. (Which is how the President of the Royal Society became a Quisling according to him.)

Despite the denials neo-atheism is both religious and fundamentalist...

No, because there's no such thing as an atheist fundamentalist. Fundamentals are for religions, which atheism is not.

I think so, but that's just my opinion.
