Question:
Wot does it mean to have faith according to jesus?
2010-12-06 04:17:32 UTC
When i was in australia once i went to alice springs and met an aboriginal chief and spoke with him. I asked him if aboriginal cultures believed in faith and when he said yes i asked him to explain it to me.

He continued by asking me to shut me eyes and meditate for rain . 10 minuits later he told me to open me eyes and see how it rained. I was confused because it never rained . The man looked at me and smiled and said,

'look jenn when i closed me eyes and wanted it to rain i felt as if i was standing in a river with water up to me waist. Thats wot we call faith. Hope and feelings are wot we aboriginal people consider to be faith. Why dont you learn that fact as well?'

Since then i have applied that philosophy in real life and i have become a happier person even when i am facing a battle with a serious illness at this moment

wot do you say?

First, Jenn, I want you to know I’m praying for you as you face this serious illness. What you wrote about the aboriginal people is beautiful. Let me try to answer as best I can.

Jesus does talk about faith as hope also. The difference is that it goes beyond the emotions; it’s a decision to trust and puts us into action. God has revealed enough of His nature for us to be able to trust Him; to be confident in Him. Without faith, God cannot operate.

Maybe you can look at your challenge as Noah did with the ark. It was a long process and it must have been most difficult. He built it on faith; trusting and relying on God for every step in the process. Your victory battle will be built by your faith and other believers around you. Step by step you can spend time reading and putting God’s word into action and with prayer and with the help of the Holy Spirit for guidance.

“For ye are all the children of God by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST” (Galatians 3:26) That means our faith is confidence that Jesus is the son of God. Jesus said “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

Only Jesus is capable of affording the peace which the soul needs.

Paul wrote “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7

There are many more scriptures that will be of great help to you through this.

Also, fill your life with people of faith that will help you to build your faith. It makes such a difference.

Again, I’m praying for you. Email anytime you need extra prayers or support.

God bless you.

living with faith, as easy and difficult as wearing a blindfold and walking a tightrope, yet the tightrope always falls under your foot. that is the nature of the path, without faith one step cannot be taken. but when one step can be taken - so can every step of the way.

when your walking into your shadow take small steps, leaps and bounds are more often followed by a fall... have faith in the words, they are the truth and the truth lights the way along the path.

The faith that Jesus taught was always founded completely on the word of God. However Jesus did declare this:

"Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

Mark 11:22-25

Sadly, few have taken it to heart - because it is all a matter of the heart - not the head, but the heart.

The Saintly Christian is required absolutely to live by faith - the strictness of this is not enforced equally on those Christians who are non-saints; still, a time will come in each person's life when faith has to be a primary reason that assists the person in surviving.

E.g. :

38 But my righteous one shall live by faith: And if he shrink back, my soul hath no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them that shrink back unto perdition; but of them that have faith unto the saving of the soul.

5 Be ye free from the love of money; content with such things as ye have: for himself hath said, I will in no wise fail thee, neither will I in any wise forsake thee. 6 So that with good courage we say, The Lord is my helper; I will not fear: What shall man do unto me?

14 But if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy [are ye]: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled

12 For the eyes of the Lord [are] over the righteous, and his ears [are open] to their prayers: but the face of the Lord [is] against them that do evil.

~^~

If you read the scriptures perhaps you can assimilate this:

The saintly Christian though not taking a vow of poverty, is usually forced into this. These saints must be tested to the utmost, their very limits, as Job was. Economic pressure is an easy way of testing anyone to their limits, all that a person is, greed, lack thereof, etc becomes exposed.

As the scripture says, living by faith is a must. This is no rain on me but don't test. This is - I ask for rain, and I get it - if I need it to survive. By faith, in faith the person's needs are requested. The means for survival for that person are then given in the nick of time, at the right time, it says.

We must not be in terror of not having our daily needs as many in the world are and though rich beyond most people's dreams many cannot sleep because of nightmares about being poor. We are assured of one fact, that if we remain obedient, sanctified avoiding all wilful sin, then we'll be cared for - real time.

I have in fact asked for rain and got it; I have asked for the typhoon not to come any closer and got it; God has answered my prayers so many times I could not count them even were they numbered.

I'd say if that helps you in tolerating your illness then keep it up. There are times however when hope and feelings aren't of much use, suppose that aboriginal chief was dehydrated and about to die, all the meditation in the world wouldn't help him a bit.

Battles in life will have the strength of the eagle's claw when our faith lifts us to heaven's gate.

What the ancients called a clever fighter is one who not only wins, but excels in winning with ease.

Hey..faith is the most important thing in this world..

What it means to have faith in Jesus is to know

a) God created you and loves you like His child

b) Man chose to disobey God and was separated from God because of his sins

c)No matter how many good works man does it can never come up to the perfect standard of God..man could never be as good as God wanted him to be..So God made a solution for it

c) God had to send Jesus His son to die for our sins because our sins had separated us from God because God is Holy

Anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as their personal saviour and into their heart

after understanding why He had to die for them and how He has taken their sin on Him..

John 3:16 :For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son..that whosoever believes in Him..will not perish but have everlasting life :-)

God did this because He's all about drawing man to Him..because He loves us so much

To have faith in Jesus means knowing all this and accepting Jesus into your heart..and knowing God will take care of every problem in your life and heal your every sickness and comfort you..

and knowing that even though we may sin sometimes ,God has forgiven us;

And that He's der with you every moment of your life..and when you die..you will go to be with Him in eternity :-) God Bless
