The Saintly Christian is required absolutely to live by faith - the strictness of this is not enforced equally on those Christians who are non-saints; still, a time will come in each person's life when faith has to be a primary reason that assists the person in surviving.
E.g. :
38 But my righteous one shall live by faith: And if he shrink back, my soul hath no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them that shrink back unto perdition; but of them that have faith unto the saving of the soul.
5 Be ye free from the love of money; content with such things as ye have: for himself hath said, I will in no wise fail thee, neither will I in any wise forsake thee. 6 So that with good courage we say, The Lord is my helper; I will not fear: What shall man do unto me?
14 But if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy [are ye]: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled
12 For the eyes of the Lord [are] over the righteous, and his ears [are open] to their prayers: but the face of the Lord [is] against them that do evil.

If you read the scriptures perhaps you can assimilate this:
The saintly Christian though not taking a vow of poverty, is usually forced into this. These saints must be tested to the utmost, their very limits, as Job was. Economic pressure is an easy way of testing anyone to their limits, all that a person is, greed, lack thereof, etc becomes exposed.
As the scripture says, living by faith is a must. This is no rain on me but don't test. This is - I ask for rain, and I get it - if I need it to survive. By faith, in faith the person's needs are requested. The means for survival for that person are then given in the nick of time, at the right time, it says.
We must not be in terror of not having our daily needs as many in the world are and though rich beyond most people's dreams many cannot sleep because of nightmares about being poor. We are assured of one fact, that if we remain obedient, sanctified avoiding all wilful sin, then we'll be cared for - real time.
I have in fact asked for rain and got it; I have asked for the typhoon not to come any closer and got it; God has answered my prayers so many times I could not count them even were they numbered.
