Question:
Since I don't believe in hell, what makes the xians think that this is my destination?

If I don't believe in Idaho, I can't go there either.

And please, no more circular logic from a book that you believe is true because it says it is true right there in the book.

I happen to have a book which states that serpents can not open their mouths and speak Hebrew, and I know this is a true book because it says so right there in the front pages of the book.

I can already hear you telling me that I am not reading the "correct" book, because your book says so, and your book must be the truth, because it says so right there in the book.

Does any of this make sense? Really???

My serpent is more evolved then yours. It can open its mouth and speak Hebrew. It can also say offensive four-letter words to me, such as "fish" and "bugs."

You speak as a fool. I don't believe in hell, and a truth most Christians will not know before their heads go to the grave is that neither does the Bible. The Bible says that when we die we are just dead.

You going somewhere or not, however, has nothing to do with believe and everything to do with reality. Regardless of whether you believe in Idaho or not, the reality is that it does exist and therefore you can be sent there. Luckily, hell doesn't exist and nobody will go there.

Try thinking of it this way, then.

Suppose an astronomer whose opinion you trusted utterly were to tell you, with all the authority they possess, that tomorrow morning the sun would rise in the east and you decided they were full of it, that tomorrow morning the sun would rise in the west because YOU had decided to believe it so.

Where will the sun rise tomorrow morning? Do you think the star will be guided by YOUR belief or by the other's expert opinion?

Of course not. It will do what it has always done. NOTHING you believe about it or your astronomer has expertly concluded about it will change that.

YOUR belief or lack thereof will NOT change what is, no matter how much you wish it.

There is a heaven and it's where those who believe in God get to go.

There is a hell and it's where those who refuse God HAVE to go. The punishment there is knowing that you made the wrong choice and it's irreversible; not sulphur and brinstone and nasty little red guys with pitchforks poking you in unmentionable places.

Your belief, your lack of it, will neither one change what is.

See, and not one word from Scripture!

Hell is multi-dimensional. A cold, dark lonely place. A room

full of buttholes with their noses in the air and won't speak.

A place of frightening visions, and pain, but on a psychic level. So

we don't actually get hurt physically. Just feel it.

And a consuming Fire. All these things have been experienced

by humans throughout time.

Take your pick!

The Word says God will eventually destroy Death and Hell.

But who knows when that will be.

Like they say. It's an interesting place to visit, but I wouldn't

want to HANG OUT there!

Well, actually the good book doesn't say anything about Hell. That is a pagan teaching and unfortunately most christians have been brainwashed into believing in it. The book talks about resurrection of the righteous and unrighteous. Talks about paradise on earth Psalms 37:9, 10, 11. The bible is a very positive book.

I'm sorry, but why do you care about going to a hell you don't even believe in? What's the point? So, no, it simply makes no sense to be upset by being told you're going to a hell you don't believe exists. It would be like me being upset over an impending martian invasion. I'd laugh, but I certainly wouldn't hang out on ET questions sites to worry about a non-issue.

You should believe in hell because we are all heading there weather we like it or not. The translation for hell in Hebrew and in Greek mean your grave. So, sorry to say it but weather u believe in it or not you are heading there. Now the Christians should believe in a Resurrection and maybe you should look into that in stead of worrying about hell.

All of it makes sense to me, tongue in cheek parts included, except for the Idaho example right after your main question. You give your opponent fodder. They may tell you, BUT you CAN go to Idaho even if you don't believe (I'm sure you can think of some scenarios here). ERGO, same with Hell. Now, I like you, don't believe. I just wouldn't argue using this example.

The christianazis who tell you or others to "go to hell" are like little children who just got their butts kicked. The problem is, _they_ are the bully and can't deal with others defending themselves.

It's much the same way as just happened to me as I write. I posted a valid comment in response to a question and a bunch of christianazis whined about it to Jawohl - oops, Yahoo - and it was censored. They like to dish out their hate speech but they can't take it being refuted.

What was I censored for? I said the "Left Behind" books were hate literature. The "books" advocate violence against non-fundy christians; just read these links about the computer game based on the books where people score points for killing non-christians (eg. catholics):

For saying that, I was accused of "insulting other participants".

This is why WE belive those like you will go to hell:

You don't believe in hell, therefore you don't believe God's word.

If you don't believe God's word, then you do not know Jesus.

If one does not know Jesus, they go to hell.

And just because you don't believe in Idaho does not mean that you CANNOT go there.

Perhaps after death, your spouse or family decides to have you buried there.

Likewise, after death we have no say in our destination.

Prior to death though, we have great opportunity to state our wishes for burial, and for a belief in Christ. .

I believe in God. We are made by Him. God is the only one that can decide what happens to us on Judgment Day. Christians that tell you you will go to Hell have no business doing so.

God Bless you and have a safe and Happy New Year.

You can go to Idaho, because that place exists. You might not believe you are in Idaho, but you'll be there.

Hell will exist as the antithesis to Heaven. Anyone that is not granted entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven will be in Hell.

Because whether or not most will admit it it's about EGO. The Religious Right (read that as WRONG) get all aflutter, enamored with sense of self importance, armored in their righteousness that theirs is the only true path to the Divine.

So since they are the only true religion, all who are not with them are with the Terrorist .........err I meant Satanists ......... um I mean ........ God hating scum ........ um I mean unbelievers.

So, it's believe as they do or be condemned to (insert booming voice) BURN IN THE FIRES OF HELL FOR ALL ETERNITY!!!!

People who believe in hell believe in a theoretical framework that involves an outdated and obviously false metaphysics. Even so they categorize according to their theoretical framework, and people who don't fit within that framework automatically are categorized as those that go to "hell".

Why is it that if someone tells you that there are a bilion stars in the sky that you beleive it?

it's easier to put you in the right drawer this way....a drawer for the christians and a drawer for the 'bad' people - as easy as that (but not all of them are like that - only those who would probably go to their own hell because they son't love their enemy...)

God says it to be so - just because you choose not to accept it does not negate it. God loves you enough, however, to give you the choice - you can choose to be with God forever.

Well considering that this book (the bible) has not been changed for 2000+ years, it has to be true.

What you're saying doesn't make any sense at all, because God exists and will see to it that you go there, if you don't accept Jesus Christ. You can say, "I don't believe in gravity", but as soon as you jump off the roof, you fall.

O' creatures of Allah! Fear Allah and anticipate your death by good actions. Purchase everlasting joy by paying transitory things - pleasures of this world. Get ready for the journey, for you are being driven, and prepare yourselves for death, since it is hovering over you. Be a people who wake up when called, and who know that this world is not their abode, and so have it changed (with the next).

Certainly, Allah has not created you aimlessly nor left you as useless. There is nothing between anyone of you and Paradise or Hell except death that must befall him. The life that is being shortened every moment and being dismantled every hour must be regarded very short. The hidden thing namely death which is being driven (to you) by two over new phenomena, the day and the night, is certainly quick of approach. The traveller which is approaching with success or failure (namely death) deserves the best of provision. So acquire such provision from this world while you are here with which you may shield yourself tomorrow (on the Day of Judgement).

So everyone should fear Allah, should admonish himself, should send forward his repentance and should overpower his desire, because his death is hidden from him, his desires deceive him and Satan is posted on him and he beautifies for him sin so that he may commit it and prompts him to delay repentance till his desires make him the most negligent. Piety is for the negligent person whose life itself would be a proof against him and his own days (passed in sin) would lead him to punishment.

We ask Allah, the Glorified, that He may make us and you like one whom bounty does not mislead, whom nothing can stop from obedience of Allah and whom shame and grief do not befall after death.
