The Bible teaches that Adam & Eve "had many sons and daughters". At least 2 incestuous matings (by our standards) must have occurred, but probably far more than just 2 occurred. Indeed, far more than 2 are mentioned in The Bible.

2) also would incest make a crap-load of messed up/deformed babies

Not necessarily.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inbreeding#Results

To summarize that technical article: inbreeding causes existing recessive genetic defects to appear more often in children. In other words: if one parent is the "carrier" of a genetic defect, any children are more likely to be born with that defect if the parent marries a close relative (because the close relative is likely to also be a carrier of that same genetic defect). However, if the parent is not the carrier of *any* genetic defect, then there almost no chance that a child will be born with a genetic defect. Also: even if the parent *is* a carrier of a genetic defect and *is* in an incestuous relationship, there is still usually no more than a 1 in 4 chance (usually much less) that a child will be born with that defect (though there are exceptions in cases where populations interbreed for generations). Finally, if any child is born with a disabling genetic defect, that child is much less likely to produce offspring himself and so the genetic defect usually dies out over time.

The Bible talks about Adam and Eve's three sons; Cain who killed Able and then was sent out into the world to find his wife. And Seth (the third son) who the Hebrews are the descendants of. Adam and Eve had more than these three children but they were not important to the fulfillment of the Bible so they are not mentioned in detail. Also, the Bible does not say that God stopped when made Adam and Eve. Again, Adam and Eve were needed to fulfill the Bible and so they were the only ones written about. God marked Cain (Gen 4:15) to protect him from being killed (some say this mark turned Cain black and this is the origin of the ***** but there is no definite proof of this) and Cain went out into the land of Nod and found a wife and she had Enoch. Some believe this the beginning of the Muslims. Jesus is the decedent of Seth.

A lot of people ask this question. If you use common sense and patience you will find that Adam and Eve did not start having kids until after the fall. They had children and those children had their grand kids by the time Cain and Abel were of age. There is no mention of women in the Bible unless they performed a great act. Our history is of an incestuous nature if you want to go by the Bible's version of things. Even the book of acts states that the common faith of the time declared that we all came from the same blood. There could had not been a human race prior to the fall because God being a logical being would had eradicated the infected race and kept the clean one. But then again. God is love, the essence of all that lives and the preserver of all things in the universe. If that last statement is true, then Adam would still live, right? Time is the key to all understanding I guess.

Goodness, if you just read the first three chapters of genesis you would know all this already. 1.) God created mankind to have communion with Him, and to Choose Him. Without the possiblity of disobeying God, there could be no such thing as choice. 2.) God did not punish them, the consequences of sin are from the sin itself. 3.) What do you mean they couldn't have known? God told them what would happen if they ate from the tree long before they did it. 4.) By the way, Satan was not a snake, he was a serpent, a very different creature in pre fall days. God didn't let Satan in, Adam did, God had given dominion of the entire earth to Adam. You need to actually read this in the Bible you know. 5.) Because the moment they ate the fruit they died spiritually. Spiritually, they were covered by God's glory. Once this was gone, they were aware of their bodies, and felt their nakedness. Actually nakedness is not shameful. It is a sinful nature that creates shame.

They had at least three sons. The non-canonical text "the story of Adam & Eve" list several daughters as well, one of whom Cain supposedly married.

One theory regarding 'incest' suggests it would not have been taboo back when the gene pool was still relatively perfect. Things didn't get oogy until around the time of the great flood (according to the theory.)

The Bibleneither admits or denies the existence of daugthers in the First Family. It also neither admits or denies the possibility that God created other humans in other regions after He created Adam & Eve.

accordin 2 da bible adam and eve wernt just a man and his wife, but they represent a whole race of people, the original in habitants of the earth. BUT if u dnt buy this then go with every 1 elses answer...insest, but that kinda would explain why everyone looks remotely similar.i dnt buy that the earth is 196,940,000 sq miles and if u buy that 2 people populated that many then how do u explain us black people? is a common fact that two whites dnt make a black and if adam and eve were black how could they make a white? the easiest thing to believ is that adam's people were black and eves white then adam married eve had sex made babies they had sex wit each other made babies then all other races were born from the various combinations... im srry if i offend u but thats the only logicala nswer in my mind.

If you read like the first 2-5 chapters in the Bible, it says how God made Adam and Eve, and blah blah blah, than they had two sons, and many other children.

Jesus had brothers and sisters too...

it says so right here:

"Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his BRETHREN, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his SISTERS, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?" Matthew 13:55-56

The one thing I don't get about evolution, is how did it start? Who made the bang, the cell that is so complex.

Science has proved it false many times, yet keep trying.

You try prove God false, but you can't.

There is proof all around us, the stars, the sky, the whole FREAKING UNIVERSE! Come on, that was a mistake?

Yeah, right.

Read Genesis 4:16-18. "And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare E-noch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, E-noch. So although the bible mentioned Adam and Eve only having two sons, Cain and Abel, and Abel being killed by Cain, We have found out that there were indeed other people on the other side of the Garden of Eden.

Just because they had two sons doesn't mean they had no daughters, and incest, as we call it, had to occur. The two daughters of Lot got their dad drunk on wine and seduced him into having sex with them so that their lineage could continue following the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. And their two sons, Moab and Benammi, began two "nations", the Moabites and the Ammonites respectively. That's in the Book of Genesis, Chapter 19, verses 30-38: Douay-Rheims Version / Roman Catholic. And you might notice that in earlier chapters of Genesis, the sons of one or another were cited as having a son at a certain elderly age, and then the words "and they had other sons and daughters" were always at the conclusion of the paragraph about that particular son.

My inlaws had 2 sons . . . + 4 daughters, & 3 more sons.

Adam & Eve probably had many more than that!

But the Bible does say that, after the births of Abel & Cain . . .

". . .Adam lived on. . . Then he became father to a son in his likeness, in his image, and called his name Seth. And the days of Adam after his fathering Seth came to be eight hundred years. Meanwhile he became father to sons and daughters. So all the days of Adam that he lived amounted to nine hundred and thirty years and he died." --Genesis 5:3-5

well, all i can say is that adam and eve did it, and had however many kids... after she had the kids they did it again and again i guess, until she couldn't have anymore kids. then i guess all the kids just had sex (not all together but one kid has sex with one kid like a couple would) over and over like adam and eve and then i guess thats how we got nieces, nephews, cousins, and all that stuff. im not really too sure how it all works... my theory sounds kinda rednecky though so i doubt God is a redneck and i doubt my answer is right on one level or another lol

my best bet would to be reading the bible to find that part out

The Bible mentions Adam and Eve having many sons, and unnamed daughters. Read the Bible before asking questions about it.

There was life on this planet before the idea of adam and eve came into conception. Its called the big bang theory. Humans evolved from primates which evolved from lesser animals and eventually from the beginning of life... the cell.

If one wants to be jaded and believe that creationism started from adam and eve, I would suggest that there was much incestuous debauchery to be had. (why do you think people are so screwed up?)

Adam and Eve had hundreds of children, only a few important ones are mentioned (like the ones who would be descendant of the Messiah). You should consider reading the Bible before asking questions. By the way, this shows how little you know about the Bible because it MENTIONS THREE SONS, "Adam lay with his wife again and she gave birth to a son and named him SETH, saying, 'God has granted me another child in place of Abel..." (Genesis 4:25, NIV). If you actually took another minute to read you would have found this out: THREE SONS: Cain, Abel, and Seth - an important story because the seed of Abel was going to be the Messiah but he was killed by Cain and Seth replaced him. Next time you read, actually read????

just think evolution and god

what if the first humans started walking the earth the same day adam and eve did...and when they got kicked out of the garden bam population right there.

but if people were going to reproduce and ofcourse you know god saw this coming, then do you really think it was temptation that kicked adam and eve out the garden..no way i dont thinks so

adam and eve ate the fruit and were ment to explore the world

Possibly.

After Adam and Eve commited the first sin. They were kicked out of the Garden of Eden and everyone else was born out of and into sin.

Let's just say they had to buy a Costco pallet of K&Y... Just kidding. Evolution, kiddo. Simple, one-celled organisms with simple amino acids (see the Miller-Urey experiment) started as freak chemical reactions, then over billions of years, evolved into (supposedly) intelligent organisms.

It would be incest, but science has proven that Adam and Eve never existed, its physically impossible to live 892728264 years and its impossible to populate a sizeable amount of people, without incest and there being deformities.

Well, for some comments above: no they didn't marry their sisters ew

God sent women from heaven for Adams sons they married. They had boys and girls. So basically, they married their cousins.
