is the evil eye real? it is mentioned in the bible, how do you protect yourself from it?

Mentions of the evil eye (ayin ha'ra) in the Bible clearly refer to the role that envy and covetousness play in its development. We can read in Proverbs 23:6 "Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meat" and likewise in Provers 28:22, "He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him."The evil eye is the name for a sickness transmitted -- usually without intention -- by someone who is envious, jealous, or covetous. It is also called the invidious eye and the envious eye. In Hebrew it is ayin ha'ra (the evil eye), which in Yiddish is variously spelled ayin horoh, ayin hora, or ayen hara. In mainland Italian it is mal occhio (the bad eye) and in Spanish mal ojo or el ojo (the bad eye or just the eye). In Sicily it is jettatore (the projection [from the eye]) and in Farsi it is bla band (the eye of evil).

Evil Eye In The Bible

Great question you seem to know alot about it.Refering to the book of proverbs or wisdom you should pray for protection from this.If you look at a women with lust you have already commited adultry,if your eye sins pluck it out. Some things are metaphors others aren't the evil eye is to me Someone who looks for oppurtunity to do wrong over you, than coventneous is seeing someone possesion and wanting them.Being enviest is something that usually comes by seeing something.People who are rich verse could be refering to how some rich will not get to heaven (it easier for a camel to go threw and eye of a needle than a rich man get into heaven)or that some rich lose focus on God and povety is not havin a relationship with God.

Yes it is real, but it interpreted to mean an evil intent. I don't agree though with the article saying it is not mentioned in the Bible. Even Jesus talks about it in the new testament. Matthew 6:22-23

Yes there is one evil thing an awful thing what destroys life and planets...Its a creature who hunts down animals and own kind..The creatures are = humans. There are exceptions but many of them are evil and awfully dangerous. There you go all evil has been created by humanity itself. And the only way to stop it is to change most of the people which is not possible.

Certainly you can recognize a type of person who always

has their eye out for the main chance, looking to take

advantage of any and everyone for selfish gain. Avoiding

these types is a necessary skill, but there is nothing

magical or sorcerous in their gaze, you just don't want

them looking at you long enough to decide that you

are a possible prospect for their schemes.

It is all about the persona of the individual who commit sin that the scripture refers to, the intensions of a wicked person and how they carry out their schemes and polute people and the evil means which they look to see how they can cause mischief. st John says in chapter !4:13 that whatsover we shall ask in his name he will do it ! ask God for protection. 1Timothy 1:7 God has not given us a spirit of fear. Matthew 18: 18,19 gives you authority same as john 1:12.

Most are of that nature (Led by violent thoughts), and they are magnatised into these mission they conduct just because they are evil by nature and they can act out there fantasies and objectives through there belief...

It is really very simple. Protect yourself by accepting Christ as your saviour. In doing so, through prayer, you can put the Christian armour on every day.

I especially like the shield of f't forget to put it on each and every day. More than once if you feel vulnerable or temptation.

God Bless

Eph 6:10-17 (NIV) ...Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled round your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

I think it's mainly superstition but in Mexican culture old ladies like my grandma either sweep you with a broom or pass an egg all over you to rid you of this "evil eye"
