Know this, Kianna:
(Galatians 6:7, 8) Do not be misled: God is not one to be mocked. For whatever a man is sowing, this he will also reap; 8 because he who is sowing with a view to his flesh will reap corruption from his flesh, but he who is sowing with a view to the spirit will reap everlasting life from the spirit.
What is our obligation to God? He tells us:
(Ecclesiastes 12:13) The conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard, is: Fear the [true] God and keep his commandments. For this is the whole [obligation] of man.
So what does these two scriptures mean to you or anyone? #1 We need to have a view to the spirit and not to the flesh. This means we need to be holy and have a Christ like personality for this is acceptable to God. Jesus was self sacrificing and gave up all desires to please his Father and to do his will. He said so numerous of times. He was given life as a man to also be a role model for us to follow his footsteps closesly (1 Peter 2:21). #2 We are to obey ALL of God's commandments for that is our obligation. We are not to pick only the ones that suit our lifestyle and disregard the rest. If it states that the commandment is not to be a fornicator for they will not inherit his Kingdom, then we are to obey regardless if straight or gay.
There were many who became Jehovah's Witness and had to conform their minds over to adhere to bible principles. Some were adulterers, some were promiscuous, and some were homosexuals. It is the practice that they had to bring under self-control in order to be approved by God.
The point is you will never achieve full spiritual happiness if you are not following God's commandments. You will not benefit spiritual freedom if you are breaking his laws. You can believe what Jehovah's Witnesses believe and you will still not achieve a spiritual awakening or inspiration if you are not obeying his commandments.
You don't think so? Look what God said to Saul who would not obey his commandments but still try to do burnt offerings.
1 Samuel 15:22 "In turn Samuel said: “Does Jehovah have as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of Jehovah? Look! To obey is better than a sacrifice, to pay attention than the fat of rams; 23 for rebelliousness is the same as the sin of divination, and pushing ahead presumptuously the same as [using] uncanny power and teraphim. Since you have rejected the word of Jehovah, he accordingly rejects you from being king"
Your sacrifice to Jehovah would be learning his word and finding the truth. This means nothing to him if you are not going to obey his commandments. The same was with Cain. He offered but his heart was towards fleshly desires and Jehovah would not accept his offering.
What can we learn? You need to conform your life in harmony with God's commandments before you can do any type of praising or sacrificing. I gave you scriptures, it is up to you to exercise your free will to choose to obey Jehovah or not.
