Question:
What is the definition of Lusting?
?
2010-09-15 06:10:58 UTC
Direct this question towards sexuality.

I want to know what lust is but I've never found the EXACT meaning...

Is Lusting simply imaginating women?
Is it imaginating Simulation of certain women?
Is it like imaginating sex with other women?
Let me guess...all of the above?

Are you able to lust over anything?
Like Masturbation.

All of the following is possible to do during Masturbation.
- You don't lust over porn...Check
- You don't lust over imaginary women you create in your mind...Check
- You don't lust over images you look at...Check

What do you lust?
Do you lust the pleasure you're giving yourself? - Can you do that?
Do you lust the fact that you're having sex with yourself? - Can you do that?
Do you lust the feeling of it being so good? - Can you do that?
Let me guess...all of the above?

Do you lust towards women, or yourself?
Let me guess...both?

What can you NOT lust?

If you haven't noticed...I'm looking for little doorways that aren't filled so I don't have to completely give up pleasure. Porn is wrong and is a sin. But what is like porn, but not a sin? Nothing? Maybe...For sure? No. If you say that nothing out there that is like porn and does not create lust, I dissagree. Read an article on how to stimulate a good sexual experience. You'll get aroused...trust me. What are you lusting over? Details on how to massage genitalia to make your husband feel good? Please...What if you are reading just to know on how to have sex when you're older or when you get married? You're not doing anything wrong right? Just reading information. Masturbation is healthy yet it's wrong in the eyes of God because you are not using your body like God wanted you to.

And for the people that will troll on this question...please shutup.
And for the people that will troll because I specifically told them not to...please shutup
And for the people that will troll because they don't care what I say...please cut off your hands
And for the people that laugh at this question...Enjoy...but answer anyway.
And for the people who take this seriously and answer with truthful information that will help me...Bless you.
And for the people that answer with 1 word or 1 sentence...please never do a talk show.

And for the people wondering...this is a Christian question...do not troll atheists.

Thanks for typing. Cheers.

The term means to "covet" or "desire with intent to steal" plain and simple. So, if you desire to take your neighbor's property, you are obviously sinning at heart. However, if you are admiring a new sports car your friend bought, you are not sinning (same goes with his girl, business, etc). But, lets say you really liked something he owned and you fantasized about it. Couldn't that lead you to sinning? Stealing it in some manner? So, God doesn't want you to go down that road of fantasizing about your neighbor's wife or property, as it will lead you to the sin eventually. And since you love God and want God's will, it would follow you should not allow yourself to go down that road.

Again (I believe I answered your question fairly the first time you posted it) masturbation within a religious context is seemingly fine now. It's a well recognized fact that it's healthy, reduces stress and helps balance hormones.

However, in a religious context the bible states that if you lust after somebody, then you've already committed adultery with them in your mind, therefore it's sinful. It's also sinful to lust over the act of sex, since it's supposed to only take place between a man and wife (privately). I don't believe becoming aroused is a sin, but if you're looking into how to preform sexually, it negates the fact that you're (presumably) waiting to get married before you have sex, because you're anticipating the act of sex where in the context of a Christian marriage, your physical performance should be of little importance since both you and your potential wife will have had no previous experiences.

From my understanding the act of masturbating, and the pleasure you gain from it isn't sinful. Pretty much any other outside stimuli's and erotic material you add to the experience, is.

Lust is a perverted or a warped sense of love.

As love cares for the other person as they really are, so that the one loved is free to accept, limit or reject the love from the other.

Lust is more to do with power over another or to desire the other without necessarily caring for their well being. Most lust is often just imagined and not actually enacted on, but this can hurt the person and can drive them to despair if they feel they can't attract the other or begin to try to force themselves on the other.

So lust can be perceived as manipulation or fantasy or coercion depending on how the person lusts behaves.

Depends on who you ask, but I see lust as anything from thinking about members of the other sex to imagining them naked to imagining what you could do with them. It's not easy to turn away from lust, however it is possible. I no longer look at people and think of them that way, but then I'm married too. God knows your thoughts even if other people don't. The best thing you can do is avoid any thoughts like that to pop into your mind.

Intense or unrestrained sexual craving, or 2) An overwhelming desire or craving (Source: The American Heritage Dictionary). Lust is a focus on pleasing oneself, and often leads to unwholesome actions to fulfill one's desires with no regard to the consequences. Lust is about possession and greed.

Wow... uh, this is a tough one.

I would say that lust is the desire for things physical when it has no basis in real love.

Think of it this way, your body needs nutrition, right? But sometimes you want food for just its taste. You want chicken wings, steaks, cheeseburgers, etc.

The vast majority of humans experience lust often. Don't beat yourself up over it.

There is a character in a novel called 'The World According to Garp' (by John Irving) who is incapable of lusting. If such a condition exists in humans, it must be extremely rare.

We are here to spread our genetic code, which is shy sex/lust/pornography/unwanted children is so prevalent.

Matthew Chapter 5

28. But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

1 Corinthians Chapter 7

6. But I speak this by permission, [and] not of commandment.

1. Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: [It is] good for a man not to touch a woman.

2. Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

7. For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.

32. But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:

33. But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please [his] wife.

34. There is difference [also] between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please [her] husband.

35. And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.

36. But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of [her] age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry.

37. Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well.

38. So then he that giveth [her] in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth [her] not in marriage doeth better.

8. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.

9. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: For it is better to marry than to burn.
