Question:
Why do people believe in evolution when there is no solid palaeontological evidence to support it?

A few years ago, I put together a thread on the Yahoo UK message board explaining my objections to Darwinistic evolution. As a former believer in evolution, I became a creationist whilst I was an undergraduate geology student. 35 years on, I am no more convinced by evolution. Please take the time to read my posts & then comment. Perhaps you would also like to contribute to the Yahoo UK message board.

Evolution is a device to deny sin and God and is favoured by sinners who are at enmity against God because of sin.

There are many other devices, philosophies religions and beliefs used to avoid God and still the conscience.

Christ came to save sinners and how will any seek Him unless or until their sin becomes their greatest concern?

Otherwise the world continues on in sin and rebellion against God.

Without the opportunity to use DNA as proof, either for or against the argument because it dies in a relatively short time, theorism and conspiracy come to the fore. Actual scientific evidence for evolution, none.

There are different types of evolution theories. The one to say that nothing has ever been created, only evolved (goes against all the laws of science). The one to say that we all evolved from one original life form, Darwinism, is full of scientific black holes by lumping all living things into one category. Then there's the one where each group is created and then evolves in it's own form. If people spoke about the last one and made it objective, it could be worth listening to. The one that only looks for similarities seems to be the most common.

If a (any) creator makes one original thing, everyone says it's been made. If an improved version is made by that same person then again and again it's still made by the creator, not recreating itself in a different form on it's own through magic, which is what evolutionists keep telling us. DNA has never been found to mutate in anything other than the most basic of cells.

Biological evolution is any change in the frequency of alleles in a population of organisms. That definition has been current since about 1939 and is based on the previous 40 years of genetic research.

The theory of evolution as set out in 1858 -59 was not based on fossils, it was based on close comparison of existing organisms which show multiple resemblances despite being different species. These go way past the mere skeletal structure of animals, though it does include them. It also includes the tissues of plants.

The theory would exist if no fossils had ever been found. The theory originally included a hazy and then unconfirmed idea of genetics and the rediscovery of Grigor Mendel's genetic work on pea plants in 1900 showed that Darwin's hazy ideas of discrete genetic units controlling heredity were essentially correct. Repetition and extension of Mendel's work since 1900 has only further confirmed this.

I have looked over the past 15 or more years at many of the claims made by creationists, and without exception they all contain some kind of lie or deliberate distortion of facts. These may not at first be obvious to the non-expert, but they are designed to be non-obvious to the non-expert.

EDIT "The Second Law of Thermodynamics

Mutations, where they occur, are degenerative, bringing increasing weaknesses and failure into a particular species. This can In no sense be seen to progress to the point where one genus can evolve into another. A snake with two heads is no use to evolutionary ideas and will clearly never result in a future snake genus possessing two heads.

It has been suggested by evolutionists that because the Earth receives light and heat from the sun, it is not a closed system and the second law of thermodynamics is not applicable. This is not true; the sun allows current life forms to grow and life on earth to continue, but for new life forms to arise, an extra energy would need to be injected into the system which evolution is not able to provide."

This is piffle.

I'm on the second of your wafflings, and you speak of :

"Each lens of each compound eye is composed of a single elongate prism of calcite. Further than that, each lens was able to maintain corrected focus as a result of a small amount of calcium ions being substituted by magnesium ions towards the outer edge of the lens; this high magnesium calcite having a higher refractive index and thereby adjusting the focal length."

Sir, whilst you may fool SOME of the people, all of the time, I don't think that ANYONE is going to believe this 5-ton tub of horseshit. IF you are going to CATEGORICALLY LIE TO US, then I may as well spend the next ten minutes deep in conversation with my stray cat.

Odd. I don't recall seeing that type of thing in the journals. Don't you think something like that should be submitted to peer review instead of publishing on Yahoo?

Just curious, have you addressed the spiriferids and shown how that is not evidence of evolution?

"Why do people believe in evolution when there is no solid palaeontological evidence to support it?"

Lol, if you could disprove evolution, you could make millions, if not billions of dollars.

Which you could then use to feed and give medical treatment to so many people in this world.

But you won't, because your theories are as real as fairy tales about sky daddies coming down thousands of years ago, telling goat herders that they are god.

They believe it because if they believed the alternative they would have to acknowledge that God existed. I looked into evolution a few tears ago, it doesn't take much to start seeing huge wholes in the theory. I find it difficult to understand why some people even consider it science. It is simply a belief system.

Your opinion, while no doubt interesting, is just that -- an opinion.

The vast majority of educated scholars in the field have not been convinced by your ideas.

That, in the world of science, is how one determines what current scientific understanding is, not cherry-picking one idiosyncratic person's opinion.

I started reading your threads but the very first paragraph mentioned the bible so it seemed irrelevant to the conversation.

There is truckloads of evidence to demonstrate the fact of evolution. Start with the origin of species and you can move onto the rest from there.

Darwin's theory was disproved in 1953. No alternative scientific hypothesis to answer the observations that disproved Darwin has been observed in nature or experimentally validated. As result Evolution as a theory remains disproved.

If evolution weren't real, all human beings would looks the same and ethnic traits would not exist. There would be no need for DNA variety.

Perfect irony; this is so antithetical to evolution! A former believer in evolution becoming a CREATIONIST?!

This is making me question evolution!

(obviously, I'm joking)

A person can know many spiritual truths if he or she says the rosary carefully every day with love and trust.

http://www.sancta.org/rosary/how.html

The fifteen promises of Mary to Christians who recite the rosary:

1. Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary shall receive signal graces.

2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.

3. The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against Hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.

4. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities and will lead them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.

5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall not perish.

6. Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries, shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just, he shall remain in the grace of God and become worthy of eternal life.

7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the Sacraments of the Church.

8. Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plenitude of His graces; at the moment of death, they shall participate in the merits of the saints in Paradise.

9. I shall deliver from Purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.

10. The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven.

11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.

12. All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.

13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire Celestial Court during their life and at the hour of death.

14. All who recite the Rosary are my sons, and brothers of my only Son, Jesus Christ.

15. Devotion to my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.
