1. Third degree also involves figurative death
2. Hiram Abiff - a worker in Solomon's temple was murdered by 3 villains according to FM legend: was bludgeoned to death
3. A FM has to personify Abiff and be murdered in the 3rd degree
4. Playing Hiram-the candidate is murdered with blows to the head and laid out 'dead'.
5. The 3rd & final blow is a death blow-and the candidate is placed in a coffin.
6. He is then symbolically disposed of 'in the rubbish of the temple' & at midnight 'put in a grave in a brow of a hill'.
7. He is buried and by the 5 points of fellowship' is raised to life in mock resurrection.
8. It appears that these are demonic actions
9. However, Bible notes/readings are being used in Freemasonry - astonishing!

Not placed in a coffin but the symbolic death blows are part of it.

No big deal, really.

I am a FreeMason and there is nothing wrong with being one.

This is a mix of accurate and inaccurate information... check out:

and click on the Third Degree link.

As with everything in Freemasonry, it is an allegory to teach moral lessons, there is nothing demonic about it whatsoever. To that end, if not the Bible (or other sacred text) what would you use as a source of universal moral truth?

Let me know if you have further questions

to some other responses:

* as enlightening as "freemasonry is bc" is, could you elaborate more? most of the founding fathers of the US, great inventors, musicians, philosophers, etc were Freemasons. Without Freemasonry you would not have the freedom to post your thoughts freely on the web

I know nothing about this initiation ...

but if it is a mock of something and no one is really getting hurt ...

then I dont get how it is in any way demonic ?
