Question:
In the bible, God prescribes the death penalty for worshiping other gods, adultery, and homosexuality. How is that different from ISIS/Daesh?

Deuteronomy 13 says to kill those who even think of worshiping other gods (no freedom of religion)
Leviticus 20:13 says to kill gays.
Leviticus 20:20 says to kill adulterers.

Why do ISIS and God agree so much?

Because the god of the bible/the bible was dreamed up by Bronze Age goat herders. ISIS is crewed by folks with the same ignorant thinking.

This is a rebellious question to ask how the Old Testament Laws are different from ISIS/Daesh, questioning God's laws that were SPECIFIC FOR THE ANCIENT HEBREWS where He prescribed the death penalty for worshipping other gods, adultery, and homosexuality. The good news is God gave you free will so you don't have to have anything to do with Him if you would rather have your sin.

But I thank your for your thoughtless and senseless question about how In the Bible God prescribes the death penalty for worshiping other gods, adultery, and homosexuality, and asking how is that different from ISIS/Daesh, so that I can post the simple saving message of the Gospel for the rest of us who don't want to rebel against our loving Creator any longer:

Romans 3:23: For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:8: But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10:9-10: that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved...

Romans 10:13 For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.

If the death penalty for worshiping other gods, adultery, and homosexuality were still in effect then Christians are doing an awful job of enforcing it today don't you think? ISIS believes in Old Testament style punishment while Christians believe we've moved on to the New Testament.

For fundamentalists, it is no different. Those in the Dominionist Movement, the people buying politicians in order to implement a Christian dictatorship, want what Daesh wants: a theocracy and all the horrors that go with it.

People here are saying that Christians don't "follow" the OT. If that's true, there is also no need for them to know any part of it, to include it in their Bible, or to even study it. Yet, here they are quoting it. Oh, we like some parts and not others?

What about the Christian extremists saying that the OT is literally true? The flat-earth that is only 6000 years old? Dinosaurs being ridden by people? Snakes in trees and Israel being a literal promise, rather than an evil excuse for genocide on neighboring tribes, for the sake of power and land, written by "priests" owned by the local political leaders? What about these "Armageddon" promoters, and those who claim women should be subjected to rule by either their fathers or their husbands? The ones who perpetrate terrorism on women's health clinics and want their religion implemented into law, so they can force every woman to act as if that is her religion?

Then there is the history. The Christian church actually invented torture - or, refined it. They promoted slavery. And through their so called "holy" wars, actually killed more people than any other religion to date. The Christian church is the reason we lost so much scientific knowledge that we already had as a species at one point, with their imposed Dark Ages of christian terrorism, and we'd be so much further today, scientifically, if not for them. Sure, they're not imposing religious wars right now - but their history shows that the religion, being a monotheism (by it's very definition, "INTOLERANT") is vicious.

Look at the similarities. All religious extremists have a lot in common, and it doesn't matter what religion they're talking about.

Those teachings were practiced in the Old Testament. To this day, if Christians were to go out and stone people for being gay, worshiping other false gods or whatever the case may be, they would be sentence in jail for who knows how long. My point is, I do not agree with many of the teachings of the Old Testament, however we must remember Jesus himself never once cast a stone. Jesus said," Who is without sin casts the first stone".

Unfortunately, it was the costume to do so is those days, it was their way of punishment for what they believed was corrupt.

ISIS is successfully getting away with chopping peoples heads off. Why is this excepted ? There is not a single thing the supreme curt is doing about it. And, if you have heard lately, they have now set up training camps in AMERICA. That is where they should've drawn the line. And yet, our "President", rarely addresses the issue. Last week I watched his speech. One thing that stood out to me is when he mentioned "Muslims are our friends, are our co-workers, they are not our enemies". It's ridiculous, how much he gets away with saying. He is our so called President, who doesn't protect our nation, instead sits in office like a brick wall

defending terrorists. If that doesn't bother you, I'm not sure what would. There needs to be an end to ISIS that's all I can say, and til then I will not be silent.

Four differences: (1) ISIS / Daesh could NOT read hearts, (2) They are NOT sovereign, (3) They are cruel, God is NOT. (4) ISIS has NOT been patient for centuries seing the wickedness of humans.

Additionally, reading and understanding the Bible is like reading and understanding a contract. One does NOT just read one provision (e.g.) the price in a contract. One reads other provisions: scope (out of scope), conditions, etc. The same is true with the Bible, one just do NOT read and understand a couple of scriptures. To understand a scripture(s) one has to read and understand other PERTINENT scriptures as well. It is called getting the context, or letting the Bible explain itself.

Critics say that Deuteronomy 13:12-16 is an example of God’s cruelty or vileness. Is it really so?

It says that after probing and investigating whether a town has worshipped foreign gods (at instigation of trouble makers) the whole town must be put to death by the sword and destroyed completely.

Deuteronomy 9:5 says that God will destroy nations, to make way for the Jews, not because of their righteousness but because these nations (peoples) are WICKED. One example of the wickedness of these nations is that they regularly burn their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods says Deuteronomy 12:31.

Leviticus chapter 18 warned Israel not to walk in the BADNESS of these peoples. What badness?

all kinds of incestous relationships (Lev 18:6-18)

Homosexuality (Lev 18:22)

Bestiality (Lev 18:23)

In summary, God ordered the destruction of nations, after thorough investigation, because of their WICKEDNESS which included: burning their own children for other gods, all kinds of incestous relationships, homosexuality, bestiality, etc.

You decide after reading the WHOLE thing. If you were king would you not eliminate wickedness in your kingdom after thoroughly investigating the matter?

There are more examples in the links below.

You are a human being and you are living in the midst of human beings. One human being says one thing and you believe. You forget to think that he is also a human being. He has read something somewhere and told you. He didn't know that those writings are genuine, so also you. An intellectual can easily understand what they are and who could have written them. You must use your mind and have your own thinking. The people who live in the others' thoughts are slaves to them. They have nothing to do in this world except obeying. The word God threatens many and ties their mouths and minds.

God never bothers who believe Him. God cannot watch each and every human being at the same time. That's why He had created the spirits to watch, guide and determine the destiny of the human beings from their daily activities, talks and thoughts too. Your past determines your present and your present determines your future. God has given freewill to all creatures including human beings. According to this, all human beings have all right to live a life as they wish. But if it happens to be bad and hurts someone, they have to face the consequences. These consequences are created by spirits. It's a natural system. After death no one lives in any form. Heaven and hell are only for spirits. Spirits are separate elements. A human being is not a single spirit. A human being during his/her life time is living with many spirits which have joined one by one since birth. They are knowledge, skills, feelings, emotions, interests and everything. Even thoughts are not your own. When you want to take a decision on a subject, one after another the spirits think and you just listen, choose or reject the ideas which they transmit to your mind through your brain in the form of thoughts. A human being is just a robot made of flesh, bones, tissues etc., and a toy of the spirits for their games.

They do believe many of the same things. Bothe the bible and koran were written thousands of years ago when people were more brutal. Hopefully most of humanity has evolved since that time. The only difference is that fundamentalist Christians do not have an army nor do they go around blowing up innocent people. (yes I know there are murders committed by Christians, but is not as widespread.) Isis doesn't even know if these people are "believers" when they murder them. Both books order cruel punishments. This is one reason I don't follow any organized religion.I feel religion causes more hate and wars instead of love and peace than anything else.

I agree with many of the comments saying that modern Christianity (and I mean a devoted Christian, not ones that are wimping out and merging in with pop culture fads clearly against the Bible's commands) has moved on to a style of New Testament-esque ways. To put the Christian message into simple words is basically saying that a true Christian will tell a non-believer, "God loves you and I love you. God will never stop loving you, as it's a promise he made that's been intact since creation. BUT, loving you doesn't mean condoning wrong action and I'm not telling you something is wrong b/c prejudice toward race/sex/sexuality, it's just in the rules of my religion. I'm not saying 'yer goin' ta HELL' b/c I don't like you or whatever. God just set rules in this book and He has told us the consequences of both, and that's what I'm telling you." Many people try to question Christianity as being so holy by pointing out things that would seem negative IF read alone w/o the rest of the story.

This is a question that has a simple answer, Jesus constituted a new covenant, Mark 12:29-31 and Matt 22:37-40. ISIS is taking on the role of judge, jury and executioner, they are a false belief as is most Christian, Islam, Muslim, Buddhist, Atheist, evolutionist and Scientologist, any faith that does not follow what Jesus commanded in these two scriptures(and many others) is a false faith, ISIS kills indiscriminately anyone who is not of their faith, To compare how ISIS kills compared to keeping the nation of Israel clean of "immoral" people in a time where there were no laws in place is just not sensible.

When man rejected God they became imperfect and since the wicked one rules this world(1 John 5:19) man without applying God's laws and principles will sink to the lowest form of life which is ISIS, making the call with no regard for the gift of life, the Bible says vengeance is mine says the LORD, imperfect man can only judge imperfectly!

Don't even bother listening to some of these people. Personally, I'm a former Christian now an agnostic regarding the Abrahamic god. So I can tell you that this statement saying Christians like to "pick and choose" parts of the Bible is bullsh*t. People need to stop bringing up the harsh punishments from the Torah and they definitely need to stop bringing up the Crusades. #1 The Torah is the literal foundation of the scriptures, above all that is in the OT and NT. Due to Jesus' PERMANENT SACRIFICE OF INNOCENT BLOOD on the cross WE ARE NO LONGER BOUND TO IT UNDER PENALTY OF DEATH. Here's a shocker for you: Yahweh didn't very much care for us killing each other for those laws. He created those laws to set a strict standard, but Yahshua, Jesus the Messiah who came to help us better understand the Torah, said that God PREFERS MERCY. Hence saving the girl from stoning.

#2 the Crusades were by CATHOLICS. Catholicism's a perversion of the original Christian faith and they always wanted POWER.

No, "God" doesn't prescribe the death penalty. I've never met a Christian nor an anti-religionist who knows what Genesis is all about. To begin with, it's not about politics, so let's stop talking about "ISIS." In the 6th chapter of Genesis it mentions that there were giants here on Earth at that time (the huge skeletons have been found many, many times over the centuries ~ and The Smithsonian has fairly recently admitted to having burned many of them). There were people here that didn't belong. The 6th chapter makes a reference to "the sons of God," which actually meant the offspring of the "gods," the highly advanced people who were coming here in huge ships. Those ships are also spoken of in the ancient Vedic ("Hindu") scriptures, and they were called "vimanas." So what has happened is that many times, "the Lord" or "God" is actually a reference to someone who was in charge, for example, of the genetic engineering project that spawned the human race or a reference to someone who, to point out another example, destroyed Sodom & Gomorrah. That area was "nuked" you know. Whoever these people were, they were trying to keep the species pure; they were monitoring our development, and they didn't want anything to get in the way, including having other extraterrestrials interbreeding with the human race. THAT was the reason for so much of the killing we find in the Old Testament. The Book of Enoch mentions the invasion of earth by those apparently sex-starved individuals who came here and raped the human women. The children of those unions were the giants mentioned in chapter 6. But those who were in charge of the genetic engineering project here are the ones who prescribed the death penalty for adultery, sex with animals, and sex with the same gender. Anti-religionists believe that "the Christian god" is the story of a violent, vicious, vindictive God. No, it isn't. Interestingly, none of the anti-religionists who continue to bring up all the violence in the Old Testament will NEVER investigate the Bible. Apparently because they feel that they already "know" the answers. No, they don't. They just enjoy putting down religion, but they aren't even able to tell you what religion is. Your question is far too simplistic, and ignores far too many factors. Genesis is a long, hard, and often baffling story. The Christians have no idea what it's about, but neither do the anti-religionists. Will either of these groups investigate, try to find out what Genesis is all about? No, of course not ...

The bible and Quran and all hand written works have been written again and again. Just like a Chinese whisper, there have been lots of changes. Each writer has given his own translation of what this meant or that meant. Some of the writers were child haters, woman haters, murderers, sadists, homophobes. What good god shouts kill, kill, kill. If god hates homosexuals, then as their creator, he has made an error. Not a perfect god in that case. Far more chance of a homophobe writer adding this to the bible It has only been the last 300 years, if that before we had printers that could reproduce the bible accurately. Unfortunately, the only bible close to the facts is the first one. It is the well-spoiled one that is being accurately copied.

There is a big difference.

The law given to Moses was to a Nation dedicated to God. If you would read the entire account it is for people choosing to live by the the Law. IT WAS NOT a law imposed on neighboring nations. Israel of that time was not expanding it's boarders. The intention was to be hali so other could see the benefits of serving God if they so choose to.

ISIS and so many other think that the Kingdom of God will cone by the forces of mankind. It will not but by the hand of God. So any desiring that Kingdom should be the most peaceful.

Everything in the Old Testament is in the New. Death is still on the table but in the form of the Lake of Fire which is called the second death that has no end. The first death is required for all humans that are on the earth before Jesus's return. However, when he comes you should ask him this question. He created the world and created you to use your brain and prove all things. So, I would definitely save this question for the only one who can answer it. If you ask me Isis is the copy cat but did not copy the mercy of God. God is merciful by telling you what will happen before 8th happens. If you do it anyway that's on you. Just as the laws in our society. Obviously we need most of them.

The mosaic law was temporary and showed the way to the cross. Remember, sin came death through Adam. The death penalty back then was a way to get to their minds fast about how severe the sins were, it does not mean God likes doing that as some think, else it would have always been like that. Jesus came to fulfill the law through Himself, so we may not have to do those things listed. ISIS doesn't recognize a messiah to the best of my knowledge and so they continue in those old practices.

Well, that is a good point in that they are certainly very similar. First of all, the ancient Hebrews were an extremely fierce people living back in the Iron Age and they would indeed stone a woman who had sex out of wedlock. Well, that would be most women today. It is worth noting that our laws three thousand years later are different than those of the ancient Hebrews and we do not follow Leviticus Law as the law of the land here in the United States. Second of all, though, there are also distinct differences between the Old Testament and ISIS/Daesh: They commit suicide when they suicide bomb wearing suicide vests. Besides being murder and mass murder, suicide is also against Christian Biblical values.

The fact of the matter, there is a lot of differences God is perfect, ISIS is not, God judgment is final, ISIS is not final. God prescribes the death penalty for sin, where ISIS does it because they are evil and do it in the name of Satan, the man of sin. If you sin against a holy God, as it is written in God word the bible only Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. ISIS does it in the name of the law of God, but the law of God can not save no one, the only thing the law of God does is it condemns us to death, and hell which is the grave of all the unsaved souls so when God Jesus Christ comes back to judge the living and the dead and too destroy the heaven and the earth by fire, the second death, where the heaven and the earth shall be burned up, by the hell fires. God lives by the bible only, ISIS lives by mans rules, like the scribes and the Pharisee of God Jesus Christ day who killed God Jesus Christ because all of the scriptures has to be fulfilled.

You are not familiar with bible history. The old testament is mostly about the house of Israel that was in slavery for hundreds of years. God brought them our of bondage by the hand of Moses. God had covenanted with Abraham and sought to make the house of Israel a righteous branch. However, after centuries of slavery and servitude, the Israelite s were barbaric. God instituted a harsh and strict law that would civilize the people over time. This was called the law of Moses.

When Christ came, he did away with the law of Moses. The fullness of the gospel actually requires more but is not accompanied by physical punishments. For example, under the mosaic law, the people were not allowed to commit adultery. Today, we are not even supposed to think about it. The consequences of sin are just as serious today but will not be inflicted by God in this world.

God's standards of conduct are high. May people today have gone off the other deep end by believing that salvation can be had with no effort to follow the teachings of Christ.

I have often thought that Islam is quite like the law of Moses. Perhaps middle eastern culture is such that they require a strict law to keep them form becoming animals. We know that they are incapable of having a democracy. What would happen id they were free to choose what they wanted to do.

At a time when warring tribes ruled the day, I think it's very reasonable for God to have instructed his chosen people how and when to war. Things are quite different now, particularly after Jesus, which would be the New Testament.

There are many laws and stotries from the Old Testament that have worth and value, but they must be taken in context. Lots of people say that the bible says its ok to have slaves; I have only ever observed the bible dictate how a good master and a good slave must interact. the issue is that if something is to be done or pursued, then it must be done properly and with the right reasons. I'd also note that anyone who believes is required to follow the laws of their country, I'd say that includes my example of slavery and your question of murder in most places in the modern world today.

In my opinion according to the bible, karan & all other types of religious writtings there should'nt be anyone left alive but one today. Just about every page from front to back God, Jehova etc says don't do this don't do that to one another or with one another or else you will be killed. ??? In that case everyone in the entire world should be dead by now. My opinion again, there are no, none, nada amount of human beings that have not committed at lease one or more of the things that the bible says, at least. We are going to have our blood put upon us (whatever that means) but I take it we are going to be as I see it "murdered". So far I'm still here and I'm not very far from 100 yrs. old. I should have been dead a long, long time ago because I have done just about everything I was not supposed to do (counting killing people in the war). Adultery, cheating lying & everything imaginable that the bible says for me not to do I have done. Isis is just as bad as any other religion as far as I'm concerned. They all preach death & doom. It's no wonder they want to kill us. They are told to do so according to their religious teachings. There is one thing for sure, We will never get out of this world alive be it with Gods hand or otherwise. Like I said my opinion.

The laws you referenced above were given to God's chosen people who were in a covenant relationship with Him. These laws were not imposed on the surrounding nations who practiced such things. For example, when a couple marry each has the right to expect their mate not to cheat or give their affection and loyalty to another. They expect honesty and devotion. Shouldn't the sovereign lord of the universe expect anything less from people who claim to serve Him? Certainly! Also, we can appreciate why these laws were instituted...to protect the people from spiritual and moral degradation. God is holy therefore his people must be holy. However, ISIS seek to impose their beliefs on others and has made themselves judge and jury. But, God never forces anyone to worship him. Neither are ISIS holy so how can they impose standards on others they themselves do not meet.

The Old Testament is for and of the Jews. I am not a Jew and when that was written, Stonehenge had already been abandoned and we were busy worshiping other Gods.

Today only about 7% of us Brits go to Church.

The Bible and the Qoran are holy books for followers to believe in.

What we believe in here in UK is free and open democracy which does not include the persecution of anyone.

The Bible and the Qoran teach persecution of anyone who does not 'believe'. Basically they are a bunch of evil Egyptians and nothing more than that.

Your question is the same as "is murder the same as death penalty?" Or "is a policeman who kills a murderer, also a murderer?" Or "is truth the same as lies?"

The difference is that God's actions are legitimated by His position and authority, as Creator and Ruler of all. He can also give life. ISIS can't.

"Absolute freedom", as you suggest, isn't possible. If there is no law and no punishment, there will be anarchy and chaos. And innocent people will die.

By the time of Old Testament, God used to rule over his people directly, so abuses or mistakes were not permitted. In the New Testament, those sins still deserve the death penalty, but the punishment is postponed, to be given by God, at the end, although sometimes God punishes by letting us suffer the consequences of our own choices. Everyone is given the chance to repent.

God didn't give anyone the authority to punish by death, so if you meet ISIS you are free to oppose them.

The answer is very simple, Christians time and time and again proven to accept only the parts of the bible which they deem fit.

Jesus, the prophet did the works of God, but they deny all the prophets that have come before him.

They deny all the practices that have come before him, thus they are saying God is wrong.

Every time you deny one before him,and you say there is a new testament, all you are really saying is that God was wrong, and he had to make an amendment.

Do not associate everyone to be foolish as you as to not understand only because they do not believe.

It is you who do not believe that God has given you reason, and logic.

Physics show very clearly that God does not change nor does he Lie. Every Physics law established of the world is true, and does not change with time.

And even if you deny this, all you are truly denying is that God made this world, and he doesn't cheat.

There is absolutely no comparison to Isis terrorists.

But, first to answer. Just because it was the law, did not mean that it was put to use. They were laws to follow and if broken, the penalty had to be paid. So, if ones knew what would happen and still taunted our Creator, in doing the wrong, naturally, the penalty had to be paid.

In fact, in Singapore, I believe, there are heavy penalties for breaking the law and no one gets away with it and thus, a safe place to live.

Crimes are committed because the criminal rarely gets the penalty.

So, basically, harsh punishment is threatened if one breaks the law and thus, acts as a deterrent.

If you knew you were going to lose your licence or be heavily fined, would you be happy to break the road laws? Many continue to break laws, because the law does not back up what they say will happen. To many, that is great, but it sure does not instal confidence in the law and thus, many horrific road accidents occur.

God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (THE CREATOR), prescribes the death penalty for all sin. Romans 3:23: 'For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God'. The savages that are ISIS (THE CREATED), are all sinners too, and have given themselves the moral authority to deal with people the way that seems right to them. Big difference my friend.

The Old Testament law was implemented to set up a theocracy in the land of Israel, geographically limited to a particular region. Christians believe that Jesus fulfilled the law and satisfied the requirements of the Old Covenant. The New Covenant does not give any mandate to Christians to try to set up a theocracy or to implement the Old Testament punishments. Modern Christianity does not threaten the freedom of those who do not want to be Christian, it only hopes that people will convert to Christianity freely.

Islam seeks to implement Islamic government and Sharia worldwide, the main debate is how to do this. ISIS just represents one of the more extreme ways of achieving this goal. ISIS is acting in the here and now and threatens the freedom of everyone who does not want to be a Muslim.

I still dont believe god wrote the bible or lives in or reaches us through a church building. I read the bible and it didnt feel like something god would have written down. I have been to many churches but I dont think it has much to do with god. Too much drone like repetition and the use of power through social exclusion or self glorification , misuse of fear and indoctrination.

God is all around us and inside us every day. So talk to him wherever you are. Take a moment to see the big picture.

The written word is not timeless. It is a very usefull record of human society through time. It gives us many examples to learn from. But the answers should come from the heart. Solutions should come from the mind. That is trusting god. What is free will without freedom of religion?

The prophet appears to have been perturbed by the bickering in his home town between Jews and Christians which seemed to be a pity when the two religions were so similar. Islam was to him a means to reconcile them. He denied the divinity of Christ (but not his role as a prophet) as both unacceptable to the Jews and contradicting the dogma of monotheism. But otherwise he went along with everything the two religions had in common. So much so that some seventh century Christians thought he was just mocking them, and others sought to change Christianity to make it more in line with the Old Testament, in particular in regard to the commandment against graven images (this resulted in a big row in the ninth century Church about statues and pictures of saints). So naturally, yes, Islam (and not just ISIS) follows the O.T. about homosexuality, etc., etc.,
?

Good question, I am happy to answer! Of course God loves us all, but he tries to emphasise the horrors of homosexuality and to try not to fall in the devil's trap, God is trying to change some people's mindset. God loves us so much that he sent his only beloved son to us. There his son, Jesus spoke the word of God peacefully and happily. Unlike ISIS who kills gays til this day. Believe me it's not just ISIS it's the Quran's teaching as well to kill anyone who refuses to accept the faith. Unlike God who states in Genisis every man has a free will to choose the opportunities we have in life, religion too. God is the creator of the universe and watching us this very second. You claim God forces us this religion upon you, if he did everyone would be practicing Catholicism right now. If God wanted everyone to do what he wants he would do it. I hope I informed you but I suggest asking advice from a traditional Catholic priest, he will give you better advice I'm sure, and happy to answer!

You are quoting from Moses. Why not from the Promised Messiah who came after him?

Christ is the Sovereign Master Creator Son of our relatively new local universe. He finished the requirements for that title by his bestowal here as Son of Man, already being a Son of God. Did He kill the woman discovered in adultery who was about to be stoned?

What say you? Did He worship and support death or a righteous life? What say you?

Did he create a world where babies are wise from birth and teens and young adults make no mistakes, a place of no mercy and harsh punishment? What say you?

Time to work together with others who are wise, true, good and beautiful and to teach correctly, see?

People need to

understand that we no longer live under the old testament,in fact,we (people that have lived since Christ took on the sins of the world) Jews as well as the gentiles live under the new testament -- The age of Grace. This afforded to us by Christ's sacrifice, his crucifixion which unlike popular belief he did not have to do!! Please don't forget the bible and the son of God was the beginning of the stories (truths) that were written long before the Koran (spelled)differently, and the grandson of Muhammad or whatever prophet they claim for the source of their religion. You must know or remember that the Koran's sources are,or I should say alot of is from the bible - it seems they borrowed what suited them (writers of the Koran) and also added other things that suited them. As we know a "Just" God would never condone killing of innocent men women and children- as we are living in the age of grace!!

It isn't that different which is why Muslims claim that Jews and real Christians are people of the Book. They mean the Old Testament although they believe Jesus was a prophet but not divine.

You fail to mention that Jesus specifically challenged the Old Testament laws .

He said Moses allowed for easy divorce due to the hardness of men's hearts.

He stopped the stoning of a woman caught in adultery which was based on Old Testament law .Christians do not stone people to death for adultery. There are always exceptions in history where some unhinged person takes a scripture out of context to make a way for their own mental illness.

He healed on the Sabbath and said the Sabbath was made for man.

Jesus said i

"You have heard that it was said, 'AN EYE FOR AN EYE, AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH.' 39"But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.… Matthew 5:38.

He goes on to talk about adultery and saying it is the same if you look on a woman in lust ..

This is all different then ISIS and Daesh but you know this already.

It is a classic maneuver to ignore the New Testament which is a history of Christianity and the changes Jesus Christ brought .

Jesus was always challenged by those who followed the Old Testament laws. He ate with sinners and those who were unclean . He called the leaders or Pharisees " white washed sepulchers." Painted white or clean on the outside but inside there is rotting flesh. Pretty graphic stuff really.

The difference is that Christians means those who follow the teachings of Jesus Christ . Jesus also said the most important law was the law to love the Lord thy God with all your heart , soul and might and your neighbor as yourself for in doing this you fulfill all the law and the prophets. You won't kill because you love. You won't cheat on your husband because you love him and you love God. It isn't coercion that drives this sensitivity but love for God and others.

God did not write the Bible or Moses would not have been mentioned as one who compromised due to the hardness of men's hearts. He was the lawgiver. When you say God prescribes the death penalty, you are actually saying that people who believed God revealed himself established laws to keep people from doing these things.

Your best approach might be to observe the people and what they are doing as a majority within that group. If you see Christians or Jews stoning women , you may say they are like Daesh. If you see them stoning people who has sex outside of their marriages, they are just like Daesh. If you see them tossing homosexuals to their death, they are just like Daesh in that regard.

The majority of the church has been critical of the Westboro Baptist church which consists of forty members and has done more to damage Christianity in the eyes of most people because they missed the message of grace.

There is nothing loving about picketing a funeral or going on about homosexuality when there are so many other problems facing non gay people.

So many atheists demand that we live under the old covenant of Moses to be real Christians and in this , they are just like ISIS or Daesh. Apparently they feel that Christianity in the US is just a societal matter and they are not really people of the Book. That is why we can be exterminated along with our gay and atheist friends I hope this helps clarify a few things.

Yes in the bible God has destroyed individuals or nations that deliberately went against his commandments. But there are striking differences between the true God and ISIS.

1) The True God can read hearts, something mere man can't do. So he can discern the intentions and heart conditions of all and therefore can truely make a distinction between righteous and unrighteous.

2) Within the bible on numerous accounts because the true God does not desire death of anyone he has given the unrighteous ample opportunities and warning before he acts.(2peter 3:9)

3) in the Israelites case they were in a covenant relationship with him and therefore were told what was acceptable and what wasn't and agreed upon these commands.(exodus 19:5,8)

4)bing that he is the creature he knows what's best for mankind. His laws are not burdensome and are geared to benefiting mankind.

Well without nitpicking -- let's just be general....

1) Israelites didn't take their show on the road and start a war on every non-Jewish (read "pagan") religion in their region of the world. -- ISIS or ISIL DOES.

2) Israelites continued to amend and adapt their Civil code over time and no longer use capital punishment for every crime. -- ISIS or ISIL DOES.

3) Christians accept that some things in the Bible were meant for a specific time, situation, and people. And that a new covenant has come about. Again, not every crime results in capital punishment. -- It is has been roughly 1,000 years and ISIS or ISIL is STILL following those original teachings and even exporting those ideas to NEW countries.

4) Israelites didn't target, indiscriminately, innocent and criminal alike -- ISIS or ISIL DOES.

5) In Christianity, it is taught to do the exact opposite of murder/death/kill and to NOT use force to convert. Islam contains BOTH writings with no real distinction between them. So in a matter of speaking, Islam DOES allow for the use of force to spread religion, while Christianity is opposed to it.

Israelites didn't use murder or war to spread their religion, they used it mainly for defensive purposes when they were attacked.

The God of the Bible is telling you the inescapable consequences of your behavior, so that you can avoid those consequences. When you spill blood or waste treasure pursuing 'elohim,' (sources of inspiration), which invite division, side-forming, hero worship, villain worship and perpetual warfare, you will experience the constant presence of death. That includes an elohim called 'progress.' Only Adonai Elohim can be recognized by His total impartiality, and His complete refusal of favoritism, corruption and side-taking. There is no war where there are no 'sides.'

When you break solemn pledges of fidelity and marriage between otherwise warring clans, you end up back in states of inescapable war and experience the constant presence of death. When you fail to differentiate romance from sex acts and neglect the basic duty of procreation, your lineage becomes extinct and you experience the constant presence of death.

So when God 'prescribes' the death penalty for these activities, He is pointing out the obvious by publicly instilling primal fear in advance of those tragic events for all who may have grown sleepy to these realities and who need to renew healthy reverence before falling into a pit from which there is no recovery. When you ask how ISIS terrorists are any different, I would simply point out that they do not worship the only God who represents unity, peace, brotherhood, impartial justice and equal love of all others, which is the basis of Torah. They think nothing of breaking truces and fidelities between families and clans. They do not act in defense of dying lineages in order to break addictive perversions that end those lineages. In reality, there is absolutely nothing even remotely similar about them. ISIS is headed by western educated, western financed, sons of oil barons who have been welcomed with open arms by the naive intellectuals of multicultural society. They are now exploiting that misplaced trust while employing modern means of travel, poorly secured modern weapons and a clear lack of reverence for life. This is being fueled by a short-sighted greed that comes only through the modern atheistic thinking which they directly encountered in the top schools where they were thoroughly educated in the narratives of a random and meaningless cosmos. There is nothing about them I would describe as remotely similar to God or any of His children. They are a reflection of you. Take a good hard look at what you are and accept the consequences about which Torah clearly warns. Only then will you have an opportunity to repent and return to the Path of life.

You quote Old Testament prior to Jesus' once and final death sacrifice for all in the New Testament which paid up for those sins by his blood instead of ours... So no need to give the death penalty in true Christianity, since Jesus died on the cross for law breakers like you and me. How that's different to ISIS/Islam, is that those radical Muslims do not accept the sacrificial death of Jesus for our sins... Instead they believe you have to die for your own sin of worshipping other gods, adultery and homosexuality. Hence why they keep killing people for those crimes you mentioned but in Christianity today, no one is killed for adultery, worshipping other gods or being gay.

The Old Testament contained the Mosaic Law, which is what the nation of Israel was to follow if they wanted to remain Jehovah's chosen people. (Deut.7:12) Everything that was stated in that Law, including execution of people that practiced said things such as worshipping other gods, adultery, etc. was ordered by Jehovah Himself, not the decisions of men. During those days Jehovah would communicate through means of chosen leaders and or prophets, or even angels themselves, but he doesn't carry out such orders in modern times. Here's how we know:

When Jesus came to Earth, he came to try to convince the Jews that Jehovah was administering a new set of commandments (or Law) by means of Jesus, which was going to be much simpler than the Mosaic Law from previous times. (John 13:34, Matthew 22:37-40) With these things said, Jesus was showing that his followers would not be taking up arms against those that opposed Jehovah, even amidst those that claimed to be and really weren't. He even re-emphasized the point to Peter when he took up a sword against one of those that were apprehending Jesus before he was executed. (John 18:10 & 11, Matthew 26:51 & 52) Also it was stated that during Armageddon it was Jehovah who was going to strike down those who opposed Him using Jesus and angels, NOT His earthly followers. (Revelation 16:13, 14,& 16, 19:11-16, 19-21)

So while ISIS is out there killing the innocent claiming it's for their work of their god, using the Bible one can see that Jehovah has His own way of getting rid of wicked people that HE has judged as evil, not the judgment of terrorists being carried out. Also we know that the righteous will be left standing when all is said and done, not evil people, which the terrorists truly are. (Psalms 37:10, 11, 28 & 29, Proverbs 2:21 & 22)

Yes, the bible says these things. That is why ISIS is doing these things in the name of God.

Are we sure that these things were actually from God? The bible is a collection of documents of great historical knowledge. Everything that happened back then was blamed on or credited to God. Why is the same thing not done now? Did God cause the earthquake that killed hundreds of thousands of people in 1976?

Did he kill millions in the flood of 1931?

Does God continue to kill 230,000 people every day?

Simple answer: there's no big difference the only one is that ISIS just follow everything that's inside the Qur'an (especially the shariah law)and Christians don't for the bible ( in most countries) Some Countries especially in west Africa, people use the bible to beat, hate on and even kill gay people.

Well the old testament had laws that only applied to the early israelites. The New Testament condones such actions as the battle isn't with the flesh anymore but spiritual. God had the rights to take life but he used israel as his instruments to carry out justice, but that was if they wanted too (moses and other previous prophets didn't carry out god's plans all of the time). Even murder back then was not permitted, even when the israelites didn't have the messiah to atone for sins, sins were serious in the development of the early nation, as they needed to be saint in the eyes of god so god could be with them, but if one presupposes that god doesn't exists and is imaginary then its understandable why in that view this would seem nonsense. Christians aren't justified in doing such action, but the same cannot be said for jews under judaism (except messianic jews who believe jesus was the messiah)

Because no one took the punishment for sins yet!!! This is the whole point of the gospel, because Jesus reached out to the gentile nations and accepted them into His family. The new covenant was made so that punishment wasn't needed!!! This is why christians worship God, because He sent His one and only Son to live a perfect life on earth, feel our pain and take our punishment. And it is awesome because now Jesus is in heaven, and will come back to rule over the earth. No other king would come down from a throne in heaven and be humiliated like Jesus did.

MAIN REASON: ISIS IS NOT GOD! they are mere men who have decided to FORCE their views on others by violence not understanding that LOVING GOD cannot be forced upon anyone!

God on the other hand is Sovereign and has the right to take life on His own judgement. after all He alone gives life!

Sadly you do not understand God or his rules or His judgement. God instituted rules for a reason. We are made with the sole purpose to live in a personal relationship with God, for our own good. If we cannot abide by Gods rules of holiness and purity so that we may have a relationship it only hurts us in the end.

In the OLD testament , men where beyond evil and deserved the penalty God gave them.. they tortured their own children burning them alive as sacrifice to their false gods! If God did not stop this how much more damage could they do to themselves and others and worse teach the future generations their horrendous rituals!

Homosexuality can lead to exterminating humanity... Gods purpose was to get people to MULTIPLY and fill the earth. by practicing Homosexuality, this not only could not be accomplished but it was unholy in Gods eyes.

Adultery leads to many things in society, mistrust, children without parents, dishonor, it breaks the relationship with God and family, it can lead to disease , abortion and many other consequences that harm the future of a society...

these are all reasonable reasons for God not allowing them.. but ISIS sole purpose is to rule over men and enforce their own agenda!

Does not a parent who loves his children, teach him right from wrong and punish so that a child may not become an anti - social being. Would God be just if he didn't punish those who break the law? What happens to a person who is not taught as a child to be a member of society in his adult years? Doesn't our society punish those who break the laws? How would it be if a worldly judge didn't punish our own criminals?

God is the only one who knows our hearts and our intentions. and honestly, all of us are more than deserving of death and torture.

God sent HIS ONLY SON to die for each and every one of us though we don't deserve it! would you die for another human so they could live? GOD DID! That's how different God is from ISIS! If you can't comprehend the difference.. then you are truly ignorant!
2015-12-14 12:33:50 UTC
Because, King, those laws apply without borders. They're universal. Try stealing in Tahiti. Try killing in Moscow. The ancient Babylonians knew of these laws. All society does. No, they're not enforced today, but that doesn't mean that they don't exist. It means that society is full of sin & doesn't want to be punished. Death may seem harsh, but you've set yourself up as Judge of God. What would the world be like if there was no murder, no adultery, no theft?

Two differences:

1) In the Old Testament, the legal authorities were the only ones authorized to carry out the sentence

2) In the New Testament, God's Son further limited the authority to carry out a capital sentence--only those who are without sin may do so (whiich effectively means no deathpenalty).

It's amazing to me how people read scriptures from the Bible but have NO concept of taking the time to determine who, what, when, why, and how (basic reading skills) which determine CONTEXT. They just assume that one thought from a line or a few verses is the entire passage. The law was for the Hebrews and not for every human being on the face of the earth. And the reason was given in scripture.

THANK YOU! They are the same exact thing. Christians just cherry pick and act like their holy book is so different and has no f'd up things in it. The Bible and Qur'an are both books that order people to kill gays, kill non-believers, kill idolaters, and cover women up. In reality if you think about it, ISIS are the true Muslims and "radical" Christians who kill opposite religions are the true Christians. Notice how Christians or Muslims always try to circle around the question when you ask them things like this. They say "Oh well...that was the Old Testament, it doesn't count!" or "You're obviously not reading it properly". They never answer the question directly. In the Lebanese Civil War you had Christians slaughtering innocent Muslims (including children!) and Muslims slaughtering innocent Christians (including children!).

I don't know what are God's intentions. But I believe that the Old Testament was a bit more extreme due to the cultural context many years back. Civilization back then was far from developed. And now, Christians mainly follow the New Testament whreby Jesus is said to have died for our sins, loves us all, and encourages us to love our neighbors and learn to forgive. Then again I must establish that I don't know what is God's plan and I pray for guidance on this matter.

The Bible was not written in English.

In Judaic and Christian faith, there is a consequence to sin, for moral sin that dirties the spirit, one must be cleaned through death, but so long as one understands and respects this consequence, that death may be passed to a surrogate, a clean animal. Jesus's death in Christianity applies to all sin for all time, removing the need for ritualistic sacrifice to clean the soul as long as His sacrifice is understood and respected.

For PHYSICALLY unclean acts, such as wearing mixed fabrics, eating pig, sodomy or menstruating- described as (roughly) "Shaqwats" in hebrew meaning "considered taboo because it is [physically] unclean". Though Shaqwats is translated to Abomination in English, the Hebrew does not hold the same meaning. Medical science has advanced to the point where these are safe and no longer unhealthy as that once were. Jesus also called for equally in all people's, and pointed out corruption in the Church.

ISIS would be hypocrites.

Back in the days of Israel, that was one way that Israel kept clean. However the Christian congregation is no longer bound by the Law (Romans 3:27, 28). Now, instead of killing those who are unrepentant sinners, we disfellowship them. We stop associating ourselves with them (1 Corinthians 5:!1). Once they repent, we reinstate them (2 Corinthians 2:7). So, you see, the God of the Bible, Jehovah, is much different then the ISIS.

In the bible God prescribes the death penalty for worshiping other gods adultery and homosexuality How is that different from Isis /Daesh ? Isis uses religion to project justification for their military and and dominating behavior and grasp at power and control . The responses you will get are called RATIONALIZATIONS why the OT gods actions are Just . the only answer they will give is Because he is god . their god Christian or Jewish Can not be wrong he is incapable of being wrong . submission to the projected authority . one is not to question the authority .it is flawless and beyond questioning that is like brainwashing submit do not question , same as ISIS

T he difference many will tell you is the OT deals with human DEEDS and those who claim they follow the new testament and call themselves a specific branch of christian New Testament that it deals with what you THINK .to control your thinking as in to think sexual thoughts is a SIN

.A bit of play with human psychology that you are bad because Satan is controlling you by your thoughts . what is reality is religion attempts to be the thought POLICE . controlling your thinking to control your actions or DEEDS This is why "modern Christianity is all about EMOTIONALISM Jesus loves you the bloodiness of the crucifixion pain suffering you are evil only read the bible Jesus is the way his words are accented .and they only resort or acknowledge the OT for Jesus divinity or OT law for a specific cause or issue they wish to raise

.Those people run into problems these specific Christians is when they resort back to OT law for their intent motive and agenda about DEEDS and want to make CIVIL laws about modern peoples DEEDS to restrict human behaviors which is no longer about what people think but behaviors people do or deeds

..The USA has very few laws governing what you Think . one can only be changed for offenses of Deeds but certain Christians want to have their rules imposed into civil laws to deal with behaviors and deeds to impose penalties this comes up with homosexuality .abortion women right all effecting human behaviors and DEEDS

The main difference is that you don't see Christians and Jews doing what you've described these days.

On the other hand these days ISIS/ISIL/Daesh follow Mohammad's commands to the letter which include beheading their enemies, forcing non-Muslims to pay jizya tax, treating women no better than farm animals, fighting non-Muslims in jihad etc.

The Quran makes it clear that Mohammad's instructions are literal and must be followed otherwise muslims will be branded as hypocrites who are enemies of Islam same as non-Muslims.

The Bible is an anthology of PROVEN Facts, EXAGGERATED facts, outright FICTION, some GOOD advice, some BAD advice, some bloody AWFUL advice, rip-snorting ADVENTURE, and softcore porn. Plus some dang good poetry.

Islam was peddling religion in an area where lots of people had already decided to follow the Biblical religions followed by their parents and neighbors, so it reworked the old religions' myths and legends of Judaism and Christianity into what it claimed was a NEW religion. (Actually, New and Improved myths and legends.)

Since none of the Gods in those old myths and legends actually exist, people can CLAIM one bunch of stuff, but can -AT THE SAME TIME- behave AS IF they know their claims are false!

Claim: Allah exists, is All-Powerful and ALL-Wise.

Behavior: Allah is NOT wise enough to think up a NON-violent way of getting his message across, and lacks the POWER to make it happen, so mere mortals MUST commit violence in order to get His message across.

You quote from the Old Testament which was written for the Jewish people who had just came from Egypt. Where there were other Gods worshiped and other acts. As a Christian we are followers of Jesus Christ and are not bound by Mosaic Law. We are under the Grace of God through Jesus Christ, this is found in the New Testament.

According to the Christian texts, this law of exact performances was a warning and a type for the people who were so hardheaded and hearted that they wouldn't accept a higher law - love God and love your fellow men. I think there biggest problem was the loving God part. I'm sure the Judaists today don't take such a condemning view of their past. But we accept that these exact laws that produced a physical death were to show to the people of God that there was in fact a higher law. As these things take you physical life, so shall they take your spiritual life. As these things take you away from your immediate family and friends and break their hearts, so shall these things do to you in the afterlife. Take you away from your God and salvation. We have accepted the higher law knowing that though these things no longer are punishable by physical death, they ARE punishable by spiritual death.

Deut. 13 says that the one who leads you astray will be put to death. Lev. does not instruct anyone to kill, it also says 'put to death'. These texts do not charge anyone with the task because it is only God who gives life and only God who should take it away.

How convenient that those who post questions like this conveniently forget one of the 10 Commandments which says "you shall not kill".

The death that will be suffered, occurs after the mortal life has ended. Those sinners will not have the eternal life in heaven that the righteous people will find.
Paul

First of all it's not the holy book that makes someone a terrorist, it's how it's interpreted and applied. Modern Jews and Christians do not go round killing people - and neither do most Muslims.

Secondly the revelation in deuteronomy must be interpreted with further revelation for example Hosea 6:6, "I desire mercy not sacrifice". In fact there is such a complex series of conditions in the talmud surrounding that verse that it becomes almost impossible to enforce.

From a Christian perspective, Jesus taught to forgive, for example in John 8 we see Jesus in the temple where a woman is caught in the act of adultery and brought before Jesus:

John 8: 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?”

...

John 8:7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”

In Islam every Surah begins "In the name of Allah the merciful" showing that all the verses in the Koran should be interpreted with the concept of mercy in the forefront of the mind. That being said the Koran doesn't forbid the death penalty:

[6.151]...do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden except for the requirements of justice; this He has enjoined you with that you may understand."

However many extremists execute people indiscriminately denying them a fair trial and as for blowing up, stabbing or shooting civilians who are just going about their daily life or flying planes into buildings there is absolutely nothing Islamic, Jewish or Christian about that behavior.

God chose to reveal Himself thru Abraham and his descendants. At that time some people were very bad. God asked them to be killed so that these people too would not become bad. God knows what is best.

Nowadays Jews and Christians do not kill those who don't believe in Jesus. Even Muslims do not believe in Jesus of the Bible.

Quran says all infidels or unbelievers in allah of the quran are to be killed. So ISIS kills Christians who are God's people. Islam is from the Devil who cheated Md.

The New Covenant.*

Jeremiah 31

See, days are coming when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah.r

32

It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors the day I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt. They broke my covenant, though I was their master—

33

But this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days—. I will place my law within them, and write it upon their hearts; I will be their God, and they shall be my people.t

34

They will no longer teach their friends and relatives, “Know the LORD!” Everyone, from least to greatest, shall know me for I will forgive their iniquity and no longer remember their sin.

The law is written on our hearts by the acceptance of Jesus our saviour. Our ultimate judge is Christ . Christianity is not a prescribed religion, we are born anew with the holy spirit indwelling in our hearts to guide us in the way of Christ , the perfect image of God. Loving ,just, merciful, long-suffering. ISIS is nothing like this.

This is the old testament, things have changed since the new testament. A lot of people are equating God killing humans and humans kiling humans. It is wrong for a human to kill another , but for a God, He is a GOD. He passes the judgement, So whether a christian is killing a gay, muslim or "heretics" or of a Muslim is killing gays or heretics. Either way, they are human, and human killing human is wrong. Even in the bible it says to leave judgement to God. Some people misinterpret the bible and kill these people because they think they are doing the will of God. Don't mistake this as Christianity at all.

Islam gets its Sharia law largely from the OT book of Leviticus. This book was written by the scribe Ezra, to cover the temple ritual, and it including the famous 'eye for an eye' verses (Leviticus 24.20). The great prophet Jeremiah, virtually called him a liar in Jeremiah 7.22 and 23.

Ezra was fond of saying 'And God said', although there is no proof he ever did, but Ezra did it to stop the Israelites challenging his authoritarian rule, as he was Governor of Jerusalem. Leviticus is one of the five books of the Pentateuch, or Torah, in which God's nature was completely misunderstood. There is no archaeological evidence to support anything claimed in it, and it is widely regarded as nothing more than Hebrew myth. Jesus told us what God was like - merciful, not cruel.

Humanity is regulated by circumstances and time.

During the war when people were facing starvation anyone caught stealing a loaf of bread was hanged! Nowadays it is different. So one has to understand that during those days there had been a reason for what God has decreed, now things have changed and we can be corrected in a more humane way.

God is particular about his position. He never let's any idols to take it. Having said that punishment of adultery and other rules were given particularly to the people the Moses were guiding to canan.

Yes, Christians should not pray other gods. Christians should also not lie,not forsake parents, not commit adultery , not steal etc. Everything is sin. And every sin can be forgiven through Jesus, if you are remorseful.

And if anyone continues to do sins, of course there is punishment(like any other religion) but no man is allowed to punish other ,for no man is so pure to punish others. Punishment is God's duty not man's.

When people were ready to throw stones at a woman who committed adultery.(again it was the punishment given to particularly for people of Moses while the transit). Jesus said "let he who not committed sin at all cast the first stone".

ISIS is misguided by Islamic teaching about jihad but they failed to follow Jesus's teachings about love.

In truth it's not, but I would like to remind you of something.

1. The Old Testament is Jewish, not Christian. I think both conservatives and liberals need to realize this. So focus a bit more of your attention against Judaism on this one.

Ironic, since the Jewish religion gives a harsher penalty for gays than the Christian New Testament alone.

2. If you think the Old Testament is bad, The Talmud trumps the OT and Koran both. It's wicked.

Some idiot Christians want to bring the OT back, because secretly they are self hating Christians and wish they are Jews. they want privileges like genocidal conquest and slavery. They're jealous of being able to be barbarians from the old testament. they want special status to enslave people. These are zionists.

God prescribes the 'Law'. And the 'Daesh; believe they are simply executing them while the Christians don't because they have twisted the 'words' of God as per their whims and wishes.

But what the 'Daesh; don't realize is that, that they are actually doing more harm to Islam by practicing 'Extremism', in the name of Islam, while the command is there that no Muslim should go 'Extreme'.

Doing anything that is harmful to yourself & others IS NOt right is it? Not just with adultery, homosexuality but murder, lying, evil thought-life, cheating, swindling, etc. All such things should be punished because it IS wrong to the common sense person. Do you want to reward evil? Why do you not want good in this world? God wants all things to be for our good and used for our good. Do understand that ISIS does not believe in the Judeo-Christian God worshipped by most North American Christian denominations nor do they believe in the Bible. They do not want to believe in God's ability to forgive any one of us sinners, if we want to be forgiven. If we think we are so holy and righteous that we don't need any forgiveness, then we are very self-absorbed, self-righteous &, frankly, dishonest with ourselves. We all fail in many ways before a holy & righteous God, the Bible says (James 3:2). Let me share with you or remind that:

1) God loves you (we don't initially love Him) & offers a wonderful purpose for your life

(1 John 4:9, 10, John 10:10, Jeremiah 29:11)

2) Man is sinful & separated from God & cannot experience His love & forgiveness

(Romans 3:23, 6:23, James 3:2)

3) Jesus died on the cross for all our sins

(1 Peter 3:18, 1 Timothy 2:5, Acts 4:12, 1 John 1:9)

4) YOU can know this Jesus personally by responding to His invitation to be in your life

(Rev. 3:20, John 1:12, Hebrews 11:1,6)

I hope you find a Bible, read these verses & come to know this God who longs to do you good

Leviticus 20:13 says "If a man lies with a male as with a woman" <-- just one particular, specific sex act, alone, and not any of the other 20 or 40 kinds....

But, Homosexuality is --> "romantic attraction, sexual attraction or sexual behavior between members of the same sex or gender."

Not the same thing! (Unless you like to lump all things together into an undifferentiated mass, in which case a tree is the same as a fish sorta.)

Jesus changed the other two rules radically. He said they are forgiven, if the person repents. Example: John 8:1-15

Is it possible that the bible is not the word of God? It has many truths in it and many wrongs. In a world where there are so many religions what are the chances of being born in the one with the complete truth in it. Most have partial knowledge or are perverted, while the true one is misunderstood. To seek the whole truth, you must first give up religion and just be a simple humble human being, then begin your search.

You make an interesting point. Do you think the individuals in ISIS or the organization can grow into a devout, peaceful representation of their beliefs? Or are you trying to say that current devout Jews and Christians are deluded or worse yet, themselves terrorists? Or is there something else you are trying to say? Some people believe God exists, but that his/her/its nature is evil. Surely your personal beliefs are a bit higher than this. And if God exists, and he is perfect and good, then our own ideas of goodness must seem quite frail in comparison. I prefer to think that there is some goodness (Godness) in every individual, including followers of ISIS, and that if the old testament authors got it wrong, it was in a sincere attempt to reveal God to those less enlightened, (but unfortunately through tainted lenses). I think there is still hope for us all to grow into loving, caring and peaceful people without forcing each other to believe in an ideology we can barely grasp ourselves.

At a basic level Christianity is like the belief systems of those Procul Harem militants in Nigeria or Wasabi Islam in Saudi Arabia. Acidic Judaism also contains many ideas like this.

Even if a being such as God existed, which I doubt, I'm sure he wouldn't be expecting anyone to kill anyone else. It is only written in some book that has been written many years ago with no holy input. Just as the Koran requires Muslims to kill anyone who isn't a Muslim. What a load of old b*ll*cks! I only wish all religions and their adherents could be prohibited from spouting their wicked thoughts.

Christianity does not follow laws of the Old Testament. Christianity is based entirely on the New Testament. The Old Testament serves as a historical backdrop in order to understand how it is that Jesus came to be who he was as a Jew and who the Jews were as an ethnic group of people, in order to best understand what happened when Jesus began preaching his gospel of kindness and love to the Jewish people, including his disciples, who later became the apostles who spread the word of Jesus to the Gentiles (heathens / pagans) after he was crucified by the Roman government. If Christians followed the Old Testament we would observe Passover, Hanukkah, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, High Holy Days, Sukkot, - we do not observe any of these Jewish religious days.

Western power structure create all terrorist group like Al Qaeda, Taliban and now Takfiries and Isis and they make lots of films and advertisment against Islam because they want to increase Islamophobia. Islamophobia (or anti-Muslim sentiment) is a term for prejudice against, hatred towards, or fear of the religion of Islam or Muslims. The term entered into common English usage in 1997 with the publication of a report by the Runnymede Trust condemning negative emotions such as fear, hatred, and dread directed at Islam or Muslims. While the term is now widely used, both the term itself and the underlying concept have been criticized. The causes and characteristics of Islamophobia are still debated. Some scholars have defined it as a type of racism. Some commentators have posited an increase in Islamophobia resulting from the September 11 attacks, while others have associated it with the increased presence of Muslims in secular nations

The Talmud ruled out the admissibility of circumstantial evidence in cases which involved a capital crime. Two witnesses were required to testify that they saw the action with their own eyes. A man could not be found guilty of a capital crime through his own confession or through the testimony of immediate members of his family. The rabbis demanded a condition of cool premeditation in the act of crime before they would sanction the death penalty; the specific test on which they insisted was that the criminal be warned prior to the crime, and that the criminal indicate by responding to the warning, that he is fully aware of his deed, but that he is determined to go through with it. In effect this did away with the application of the death penalty. The rabbis were aware of this, and they declared openly that they found capital punishment repugnant to them… There is another reason which argues for the abolition of capital punishment. It is the fact of human fallibility. Too often we learn of people who were convicted of crimes and only later are new facts uncovered by which their innocence is established. The doors of the jail can be opened, in such cases we can partially undo the injustice. But the dead cannot be brought back to life again. We regard all forms of capital punishment as barbaric and obsolete.

So if I were to go back in time shortly after "Jesus" died, I myself could claim to have the power of God and simply right a book myself about nonsense. Whoever wrote the book of Corinthians must have had something against gays, so he felt the need to try to banish gays by doing that. The idea of Christianity is a brain washing money grab business. Actually, it's Muhammad that twisted and adopted similar beliefs because of what God had passed down in the law of Moses.

And the terrorists are just following Muhammad.

However, the law passed down through Moses' purpose was to teach carnal man what Christ would require in truth and in the Spirit.

The law was finished with Christ because Christ was the purpose of the law. Now, instead of stoning a man who practices homosexuality, idolatry, or adultery, we are to stone him in the spirit, which would mean to cry out to God, to pray and fast on his behalf, and to tell him that he can give his sin over to Christ and Christ will set him free of the enslavement to his sin.

If you were interested in knowing Christianity, though, you would know this already.

However, your real interest is to blindly hate Christianity and try to trick Christians into doubting their faith in Christ.

You prey on the vulnerable and ignorant, the weak and sick in God because they are the only ones fooled by the willful ignorance of your questions.

Maybe you missed the part of the Bible called the "New Testament" - they usually gloss over that on Atheist anti-Bible cherry picker websites.

For the record, the NT is the most important part of the Bible for Christians. And Jesus directly addressed how Mosaic Law (His Law) had been misapplied on multiple occasions: "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"/"It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath"/"Love God with all your heart... [and] Love your neighbor as yourself-all the Law and the Prophets hang on these two Commandments."

Finally, you might want to consider the founders of each religion. One was a rabbi who taught peace, compassion, humility, and often commended people of other religions/ethnicities for their faith... The other was a warlord who taught killing, enslaving, and raping anyone who didn't submit to his rule.

Pretty stark contrast between the Bible and the Koran if you're willing to compare them consistently and completely.

Read further.

We were allowed to break every single rule repeatedly throughout the ages.

If any higher more powerful beings wished for these rules to be instituted then they would be, simple as that. That isn't what they want. They want us to break the rules both collectively and individually.

All of the rules have been broken repeatedly throughout all of man's existance. We were given time to have it our way so we could learn.

So thats what they did. They wrote down some things not to engage in and expected us all to break them over and over again. It got screwy in certain areas though when they began to change things in the writings, needless to say no one ever said to punish a rape victim, those damn catholics i tell ya. Little scamps like to change words around alot.

Keep this in mind. If it says to not do it then that is what is going to happen all over the earth. And beware of word changes that have been made to the original texts.

No one is going to get killed for any of these law breaks. We're going to get killed and die because we repeatedly break all of the rules. Death and suffering is what breaking the rules brings to us all. And we've always been free to do it.

Have you read the New Testament? God sent his son Jesus, the Messiah to save us from our sins penalty, of death, by him taking that punishment upon himself. This began a new covenant. One in which we are no longer bound by all the laws, rituals, and sacrifices of the old Testament. But PLEASE DONT TAKE MY WORD FOR It OR ANY ONE ELSES on here or even in Church. There is so much false teaching going on. I Challenge you to read and study the New Testament for yourself. Eternity is FOREVER... Whatever you believe, we simply can't afford to get this one wrong. There is too much at stake! PLEASE read the Bible for yourself... the New Testament in this case, and Pray for God to reveal it's truths to you, and in time he will! The mosaic law was temporary until Jesus was to be born.

John 8:1-11New Living Translation (NLT)

A Woman Caught in Adultery

8 Jesus returned to the Mount of Olives, 2 but early the next morning he was back again at the Temple. A crowd soon gathered, and he sat down and taught them. 3 As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. They put her in front of the crowd.

4 “Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?”

6 They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. 7 They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” 8 Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust.

9 When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman. 10 Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?”

11 “No, Lord,” she said.

And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.”

The Moslem and Jew have many similar beliefs and practices. This is due to the fact that they are all relatives, family, all descended from Abraham.

The family of Abraham was and is one of the most dysfunctional families in history as the Bible and Koran clearly show. You are quoting Jewish teachings by the way, not Christian. The two are markedly different.

As a bisexual Christian I know that the Law of Moses is what Jesus fulfilled. Since I am a Christian, I know that the Law of Moses demands perfection, it's not just concerning Gays, it's concerning everyone who must do ALL things written in the Law, or fail completely.

God do not change!....Even though we are living under Grace and not The Law, because of what Christ Jesus His Son has done for us. It does not mean that we practice sin and think that there is no consequences. The Law showed us our sin nature, but it could never change us. Thank God for Jesus and His Holy Spirit we can now live righteous living in Christ Jesus. (Romans 7:1-6)

Galatians 6:5-8 says, "If we sow to the flesh, we will reap corruption and death, but if we sow to The Spirit, abundant life we will receive and eternal life when we leave". We receive what we live for in the spirit and physical realm!

A brilliant question to think and analyze our selves.

01. I have gone through all the comments of the people. Strange to see that through one simple question, most of the people( Peaceful Apologists ) have either put a disclaimer on their faith or considered OT obsolete , non -practicable and not part of NT.

02. This is the same apologetic approach which a peaceful Muslim has to offer, but he is still regarded as extremist.

For one thing it was God directed and Judged, not man, or some organization of man.

Another reason is that those whom he was speaking to wasn"t just any person or group or nation.

Those whom he was outlining the aspects of that Law was to the Jews or nation of Isreal. They were the ones in a covenant or a type of contract with him, they were the ones who publicly declared this bind to him and so it is to them he said "Hear, O Israel" Deut 6:4

Lev 1:1 Then the LORD called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying, "Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them,..."

So for these reasons and others the parallels of ISIS and that of God's Law does Not agree.

Isis is a group of imperfect men, who are righteous in their own eyes.

noone here is capable of giving a real answer as to what god is making this a difficult question, but i'm going to say that all religions have there roots in the human unconscious and therefore share the same affinity and variety as the people who perpetuate them. so to answer your question it isn't really, the difference is that they use it as an excuse to do horrible things because their culture permits it whereas in other cultures the same behaviour can no longer be justified. (i say no longer because obviously in England where i'm from people used to be hung for breaking laws that derive from religious tenets tied to what was at the time a religous state tied to the church.)

I know you are funning or talking out of ignorance. God is a reader of hearts and he will destroy people that are not redeemable. When Armageddon comes he will once again destroy all who does not except the way of life that he has set forth for us in the Bible through his son Jesus. There are many other instances where people or things were devoted to destruction, but the foregoing illustrations suffice to show why such devoted things, animals or persons were not redeemable.

I understand how so many people try to nitpick Christianity to the point where they analyze everything out of context to the point of extreme legalism with the ancient Hebrew laws. Matthew 5 will answer all of your questions. Jesus came not to abolish the law, but to complete it. I don't want to quote the entire chapter. Too many do that and you can read it on your own. Note verse 17 to the end especially, but remember what says us our religion apart is that we are not a good works based system of salvation. We believe that if you don't have a personal relationship with Christ, then you will spend eternity in hell. Christ died willingly on the cross, as a sacrifice in our place. He took our sin upon himself, he bore the pain for our iniquity. Believe in him and you will be saved!

(Romans 10:4) Christ is the end of the Law, (mosaic law) so that everyone exercising faith may have righteousness.

(Acts 15:17-20) so that the men who remain may earnestly seek Jehovah, together with people of all the nations, people who are called by my name, says Jehovah, who is doing these things,  known from of old.’  Therefore, my decision is not to trouble those from the nations who are turning to God,  but to write them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from what is strangled, and from blood.

(Matthew 22:37-39) He said to him: “(Jesus Christ)‘You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.’  This is the greatest and first commandment.  The second, like it, is this: ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’

(Romans 15:2) Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.

(1 John 4:20) If anyone says, “I love God,” and yet is hating his brother, (people of the nations, neighbors) he is a liar. For the one who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.

(Psalm 37:8-11) Let go of anger and abandon rage; Do not become upset and turn to doing evil.   For evil men will be done away with, But those hoping in Jehovah will possess the earth.  Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; You will look at where they were, And they will not be there.  But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. (Psalm 37:29) The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it. (Matthew 5:5) “Happy are the mild-tempered, since they will inherit the earth. (Isaiah 33:24) And no resident will say: “I am sick.” The people dwelling in the land will be pardoned for their error. (Revelation 21:4) And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

(2 Timothy 3:1) But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. (Matthew 24:14) And this good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

(Romans 12:19) Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but yield place to the wrath; for it is written: “‘Vengeance is mine; I will repay,’ says Jehovah.”

(Revelation 11:18) And to bring to ruin those ruining the earth.”

Out of everything Jesus speak He makes clear Faith, Hope and Love of these the greatest is Love. Jesus is God, God is love, that is the bottom line. Quran doesn't teach turn the other cheek, or your enemy I hungry feed him if your enemy is thirsty give him a drink much do I give, Jesus said all of it. God Bless You!

Christians and Jews have put aside such ancient things but Islam has not. They still believe in an eye for an eye. Sharia Law is basically keeping with OT traditions, but it has no place in the modern world. Jesus Christ's teachings of love and peace replaced judgment with mercy.

Because God never said that. The writings of those ether earlier or later (before of after Jesus) said that. They also said don't eat shrimp or you are damned to hell, but people eat shrimp. The point I'm trying to make is that Jesus never said that, God never (directly or indirectly) says it through Jesus, and a lot of what's in the bible contradicts itself, especially what Jesus said and what is said later. Jesus (and therefore God) said that everyone should love each other no matter what.

This question shows just how dishonest the Atheists are.

Here is what the Bibles says Deuteronomy 13, "If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,

2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;

3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

4 Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.

5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the Lord your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the Lord thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee."

God does not command us to kill everyone who worship a different god, the condition of your death warrant is that you call yourself a dreamer or a prophet of the false god and try to lead people astray. And that law was SPECIFIC to the Israelites, first line in the verse "If there arise AMONG you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams." This does not include other nations ONLY the Israelites.

Leviticus 20:13, Again God doesn't command you to just kill gays, He is not prejudice towards them. God issues the same death warrant to anyone who commits adultery, even if it's straight sex. “If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife—with the wife of his neighbor—both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death” (Leviticus 20:10).

This guy again distorted what was written to support his own ignorance.

To equate Christianity to ISIS because of two similarities in the laws is ridicules. Only a retard would do such thing.

Both you and Joseph Stalin are Atheists and believes in evolution theory, Oh my so much similarities, maybe we should kill you to prevent another mass murder.

Because God was establishing His people. He was very seriuos about how they represented Him as their God. They were seperate in every way from the practices of pagans and such. Being a just God He could not tolerate those practices among his chosen people, the Hebrews, Jews, Israelites.

In the Bible it does not condone gang raping little girls which is what Islamist State does after they behead their mothers. And while stoning homosexuals to death by the ancient Hebrews was similar to pushing them off of roofs, the Bible does not condone suicide, and suicide bombs are a modus operandi of the Terrorists. There are differences.

These laws were given to the Nation of Israel in the Old Testament days to keep them Holy( Separate and Exclusive) for God , nothing less than death would keep them on their track ...After the Advent of Jesus Christ it is love, and only the love for God and the love for others that is needed to keep the people Holy

You forgot to mention that God also commands the stoning to death of anyone caught collecting sticks on the wrong day of the week. I personally find it hilarious when religion enthusiasts tell us that modern society is in moral decline and we need to return to the values of the 10 commandments.

As I have been saying for years now. Muslims are just Christians in blankets. Muhammad was actually a Christian in the beginning. He was excommunicated for wanting his books published in the bible. This is why he says to give special consideration for Christians and Jews. All this "Kill the infidel" stuff is just another hypocrisy by the Muslims. Just like how Christian do not do what Jesus said to do.

That is an erroneous statement. Jehovah God's word, the Bible says at 1 Corinthians 8:5, 6 "For even though there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many "gods" and many "lords," there is actually to us one God, the Father, from whom all things are and we for him; and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and we through him.

Psalm 83:18 identifies what his name is "May people know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You ALONE are the MOST HIGH over all the earth.

The Bible was written by men and then altered translated many times. I have absolution of faith. I am not religious. My relationship with god needs no preacher, book, or building. I know without question or doubt, God just wants us to love and accept each other. Period. He loves, forgives, and accepts us all. Shouldn't we as well? Im straight, one of my best friends is gay, that is a part of who he is. He is my friend regardless. The Bible, Torah, and Quran too often become excuses to judge and wage war. Love thy neighbor, do unto others as you want done unto yourself. No one is fit to judge (least of all me). We are meant to be more. Absolute Faith, Love, acceptance, and forgiveness given and received freely is the only way to achieve that. If your child is gay, eats meat on Friday, or wears clothing of mixed fabric will you disown them? According to the old testament you should. Follow your heart, God guides us through it. Just my opinion, no offense intended towards anyone. Peace.

The main difference in my opinion

Is that Christians teach "only God can judge". Muslims are left to judge each as they come across. Christians teach salvation, repentance, and reform. The book Muslims follow teaches immidiate reform or instant death

To answer your question God showed himself to the Israel. There was no mistaking that God exist because of this he held them to a higher standard. Jesus Christ said those who know more will be judge stricter. Israel was a holy people of God and God expected them to act Holy. Israel broke this covenant by idol worshipping and God promised a new covenant which is Jesus Christ see verse below. We now live in the age of grace because of Jesus Christ

Jeremiah 31

The days are coming,” declares the Lord,

“when I will make a new covenant

with the people of Israel

and with the people of Judah.

32

It will not be like the covenant

I made with their ancestors

when I took them by the hand

to lead them out of Egypt,

because they broke my covenant,

though I was a husband to[d] them,[e]”

declares the Lord.

33

“This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel

after that time,” declares the Lord.

“I will put my law in their minds

and write it on their hearts.

I will be their God,

and they will be my people.

34

No longer will they teach their neighbor,

or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’

because they will all know me,

from the least of them to the greatest,”

declares the Lord.

“For I will forgive their wickedness

and will remember their sins no more.”

The Old Testament is the history of life before Jesus Christ in the new Testament. In the Old Testament, God was harsh and judgemental, but when Jesus was born, everything changed. Jesus is like a lawyer in that He is our representative, who acts on our behalf. God saw everything in black and white before Jesus gave us the ability to be forgiven.

Bible is a book. A kind of an old fiction story we can choose to like or dislike. We can read it or not read it, believe it or not believe it, but we are not forced to take it literally and actually do everything it says. This is how it is different....

these are major sins ,but god never accentuate his judgment final on ,because the forgiveness of god is infinite and the human being is usually allowed to revise his sin and to repent at every moment he desires it to do .even though in their graves the sinners of adultery, homosexuality and the apostaters would have a mercy of god as result of a good gesture or behavior towards the humans or the animals during their journey on the earth.. however there is minor sins less weighing than the major sins but, bywhich the human being could attract the anger of god until being among those people of the hellfire and not get away from it. as insulting his own parents and abuse them, stealing the rights of the weakful, stealing the money of the poor, the fact of appropriate wrongly and with evil manner the propriety of the others , the fact of fabricating a lie or being intentionally swindler and dishonest, the fact of not respecting old people as not respecting the children, the fact of causing the evil to animals and to the nature of god, ....there such many minor sins as molecule of atom but weighing thousands of tons at the balance of god ...i think i made reference to how god is equitable and right good as he judge the humans ...people are juste imitating him at a smaller degree of what he possesses of power and of unhuman estimation. the fact of applying the terms of god and making justice in his place ,are just getting away from his obeidience and associating with him a partener which could bring the one to be polytheist and to be a rival of god attending from the others to be worchipped and to be awarded. thing which is wrong because the human being isn't master of his own self, an d he didn't manage the circulation of the sun, the moon ,the earth and all cosmos, he didn't create any souls , ...the human being isn't a small copy of god, because god is higher to be compare to an animal as a human who couldn't lived without his appetence and lust animalic.... how many religious and volunteers of god's houses are swindlers and fools deceivers and their appearance is just deceiving , and how many people are intentionally or unintentionally strangers and not close to god ,but are good and with angelic behaviors, so , god looks at your heart and not at your exterior ...

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND that there is no way ISIS can be compared to the Almighty God , Jehovah & his Son Christ Jesus all power to annihilate wicked nations & religions

(Revelation 12:10) “. . .“Now have come to pass the salvation and the power and the Kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ, because the accuser of our brothers has been hurled down, who accuses them day and night before our God. . .” This in our time since 1914 C.E.--As is stated "now have come to pass"

*** w10 1/1 p. 13 Why Did God Wage War Against the Canaanites? ***

Why Did God Wage War Against the Canaanites?

“Completely destroy all the people: the Hittites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, as the LORD ordered you to do.”—DEUTERONOMY 20:17, TODAY’S ENGLISH VERSION.

“Be peaceable with all men.”—ROMANS 12:18.

NOTE PLEASE the powerful judgments that Jehovah had on the Canaanites nations:

*** w10 1/1 pp. 13-14 Why Did God Wage War Against the Canaanites? ***

2. Why did God not allow the Canaanites to coexist with the Israelites? “They should not dwell in your land,” God warned regarding the Canaanites, “that they may not cause you to sin against me. In case you should serve their gods, it would become a snare to you.” (Exodus 23:33) The prophet Moses later told Israel: “It is for the wickedness of these nations that Jehovah your God is driving them away.” (Deuteronomy 9:5) Just how wicked were those nations?

Immorality, pagan worship, and child sacrifice were widespread in Canaan. Bible historian Henry H. Halley notes that archaeologists excavating the area “found great numbers of jars containing the remains of children who had been sacrificed to Baal [a prominent god of the Canaanites].” He adds: “The whole area proved to be a cemetery for new-born babes. . . . Canaanites worshipped, by immoral indulgence, as a religious rite, in the presence of their gods; and then, by murdering their first-born children, as a sacrifice to these same gods. It seems that, in large measure, the land of Canaan had become a sort of Sodom and Gomorrah on a national scale. . . . Archaeologists who dig in the ruins of Canaanite cities wonder that God did not destroy them sooner than he did.”

The Israelites adopted similar horrors ! Note what chastisements he said to them:

(Ezekiel 18:25) “25 “‘But you will say: “The way of Jehovah is unjust.” Please listen, O house of Israel! Is it my way that is unjust? Is it not your ways that are unjust. . .”

Jehovah God warned the Canaanites for some 400 yrs. to stop their treachery--

IF ALL THE NATIONS that were in the promised land responded like the Gibeonites , history could have been different for them!

(Ezekiel 18:27-29) “27 “‘And when someone wicked turns away from the wickedness that he has committed and begins to do what is just and righteous, he will preserve his own life. 28 When he realizes and turns away from all the transgressions that he has committed, he will surely keep living. He will not die. 29 “‘But the house of Israel will say: “The way of Jehovah is unjust.” Is it really my ways that are unjust, O house of Israel? Is it not your ways that are unjust?’”

The difference should be obvious to you! Terrorist go about killing people indiscriminately in and around their own countries and in other countries. They just kill no matter how many and who gets hurt. Theirs is no kind of justice, and neither do they have the right to do what they do. But, then again, did the US have the right to kill in Vietnam with all the atrocities that followed? Did they have the right to go into Iraq, and so forth. What about Russia, China, and so forth - the only way these differ from being terrorists is by them being large established governments who engage in evil.

God:

The thing about God and his rules is quite simple. He promises that soon this world will go up in the flames of wickedness, war (WWIII for sure), famine, pest, natural disasters, and what else. After that Great Tribulation is finished, He then promises to send his angels out to kill all who do not please him. It is indicated that at best 10% of all on earth will be the only ones surviving. Thus we see terrorist killing without considering who they hurt, what they destroy. They do not mind hurting their own fellow believers.

God who created us, on the other hand, shall kill all who cannot learn to obey his laws. His killing is going to be selective and according to his own justice that shall be equally enforced without partiality to all on this globe. There will be no escape. However, all who meet a certain standard of goodness, righteousness, will survive and be helped to survive. If they die in a blast of atomic weaponry during WWIII they shall be resurrected, brought back to life, once the kingdom is established on earth.

It is also clear that those who survive will not be strictly Christian. They will however be ones who live good lives according to their god-given conscience. This is the criteria for survival:

Matt 16: 27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then shall he render unto every man according to his deeds.

Those who lead Christian holy lives in Christ as outlined in scripture will be permitted to survive as a matter of course. Their survival will not depend on what denomination they belong to, but if in fact they live pure clean lives in Christ.
Fulano

some things in God we cannot explain in this world. we must just obey. in old testament yes those things happened. but they no longer happen. thank God. nevertheless God does hate sin. but loves sinner.

ISIS. is demonic in nature. allah is demonic. behading, raping little girls.boys, burning, etc etc.

cant compare. .

The laws of the old testatment needs to be read in its proper context of culture and time. When huamn civilization is in its infancy God had impelmenet tehse rules. could hold out no longer. Finally, when they were certain that they would perish, they

asked Muhammad to banish them and spare their lives, which he did. The Prophet took

possession of all their property.”

Bukhari:V5B59N510 “Allah’s Apostle reached Khaybar at night. It was his habit that, whenever

he reached an enemy at night, he would not attack them till it was morning. When morning

came, the Jews came out with their spades and baskets. When they saw the Prophet,

they said, ‘Muhammad! O dear God! It’s Muhammad and his army!’ The Prophet shouted,

‘Allahu-Akbar! Khaybar is destroyed, for whenever we approach a nation, evil will be the

morning for those who have been warned.’”

Bukhari:V5B59N516 “When Allah’s Apostle fought the battle of Khaybar, or when he raided any

other people, we raised voices crying, ‘Allahu-Akbar! Allahu-Akbar!’”

Tabari VIII:130 “The Prophet conquered Khaybar by force after fighting. Khaybar was something

that Allah gave as booty to His Messenger. He took one-fifth of it and divided the

remainder among the Muslims.”

STUDY THE BIBLE AND WHAT IT SAYS

Isa 45:5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:

Isa 45:6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.

Isa 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil (trouble): I the LORD do all these things.

Isa 46: 6-10 Remember this, keep it in mind, take it to heart, you rebels. Remember the former things, those of long ago;

I am God, and there is no other;

I am God, and there is none like me.

I make known the end from the beginning,

from ancient times, what is still to come.

I say, ‘My purpose will stand,

and I will do all that I please.

John 14:29 And now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe

Jer 10:10 But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.

Jhn 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

1Jo 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

Pray the following

Dear Lord,

I admit that I am a sinner. I have done many things that don’t please you. I have lived my life for myself. I am sorry and I repent. I ask you to forgive me. I believe that you died on the cross for me, to save me. You did what I could not do for myself. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life, I give it to you. Help me to live every day in a way that pleases you. I love you, Lord, and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you. Amen

Isis cuts off the heads of many innocent people, Christians believe God's command..."thou shall not kill..."

In the bible, God prescribes the death penalty for worshiping other gods, adultery, and homosexuality. How is that different from ISIS/Daesh? Bacteriologist Alexandre Yersin (who discovered Bubonic plague) is depicted on the Shroud of Turin. There is another shroud on which blasphemer Yosef (who was crucified on a pole in 1066 AD) is depicted. WW3 happens; 7% of people will be left; after people are tired of war, they will elect the antichrist as one world leader; don't vote. ISIS stands for Israeli Secret Intelligence Service. Next false flag: Statue of Liberty. Move away from coasts as nukes will go off in the ocean (at where tectonic plates meet; result: megatsunamis 1km high). Earth is flat; stands on 3 pillars (the Most Holy Trinity); pillars stand on water at zero Kelvin. Zodiac is planetary prison of demons; don't believe in horoscopes or you'll exhibit the traits of the trapped demons. Most thoughts and dreams are from demons; demons never do good. Sleep fully clothed; pray the Jesus prayer. Pray to your guardian angel to have normal sleep. Vyacheslav Krasheninnikov was the last prophet before Enoch and Elijah return to preach against the antichrist. According to Ruski Orthodox Christian Vyacheslav Krasheninnikov: Humans were created about 7525 years ago.

Birds participate in time creation. It's a sin to kill birds. Dinosaurs live under our level. They will get out through sinkholes and lakes. To kill them, go for their nerves. Save the birds; but kill the dinosaurs. First dinosaur will come out of Volga River in Russia. Demons grow human skin (from a sample taken during abduction) and put it on so as to look like us. Demons will invite people to be healed inside their UFOs; those who go will be like zombies after. Gov't provides demons with diamonds and allows demons to abduct people. If you're being abducted, slowly pray the Jesus prayer.

Don't panic. Demons use diamonds and souls to power their UFO craft. The bigger the diamond, the more it lasts. Demons have 4 UFO bases: 1)Moon 2)Inside fake mountain Kailash in Tibet 3)In lake Baikal in Russia 4)In Atlantis which is underneath the Mariana Trench in Pacific Ocean. There are no aliens. Nobody lives on other planets. Airplanes that go down are hit by demons because they need the airspace to fight Jesus. Antichrist is pale with red eyes. He's possessed by Satan since he's 12 years old. He flies. He wears gloves to hide long nails. He's surrounded by demons who appear as angels of light.

Don't go into a UFO to be healed by demons. 666 is given by isotope rays on wrist or forehead when people stretch hands to receive small plastic grey card with no name on it (World Passport). Police will microchip and isotope ray people on highways. Food stores will isotope ray people too. Antichrist will also release prisoners to mark people. Reject 666 at all cost. If you're about to be marked, pray the Jesus prayer. Hide with Orthodox Christians to escape 666; leave all electronics behind so that antichrist's minions can't track you. Give to charity in the name of Archangel Michael; he rescues people from hell twice a year (or brings them up a level, that is, to a level with less punishment; eventually, people are freed). Feed the pigeons; when pigeons bow down, people are saved from hell. Forgive me.

The Quran contains at least 109 verses that call Muslims to war with nonbelievers for the sake of Islamic rule. Some are quite graphic, with commands to chop off heads and fingers and kill infidels wherever they may be hiding. Muslims who do not join the fight are called 'hypocrites' and warned that Allah will send them to Hell if they do not join the slaughter.

Unlike nearly all of the Old Testament verses of violence, the verses of violence in the Quran are mostly open-ended, meaning that they are not restrained by the historical context of the surrounding text (although many Muslims choose to think of them that way). They are part of the eternal, unchanging word of Allah, and just as relevant or subject to interpretation as anything else in the Quran.

The context of violent passages is more ambiguous than might be expected of a perfect book from a loving God. Most contemporary Muslims exercise a personal choice to interpret their holy book's call to arms according to their own moral preconceptions about justifiable violence. Their apologists cater to these preferences with tenuous arguments that gloss over historical fact and generally do not stand up to scrutiny. Still, it is important to note that the problem is not bad people, but bad ideology.

Unfortunately, there are very few verses of tolerance and peace to abrogate or even balance out the many that call for nonbelievers to be fought and subdued until they either accept humiliation, convert to Islam, or are killed. Muhammad's own martial legacy, along with the remarkable stress on violence found in the Quran, have produced a trail of blood and tears across world history.

The Quran:

Quran (2:191-193) - "And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah [disbelief or unrest] is worse than killing...

but if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah [disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allah] and worship is for Allah alone. But if they cease, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zalimun (the polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.)" (Translation is from the Noble Quran) The verse prior to this (190) refers to "fighting for the cause of Allah those who fight you" leading some to believe that the entire passage refers to a defensive war in which Muslims are defending their homes and families. The historical context of this passage is not defensive warfare, however, since Muhammad and his Muslims had just relocated to Medina and were not under attack by their Meccan adversaries. In fact, the verses urge offensive warfare, in that Muslims are to drive Meccans out of their own city (which they later did). Verse 190 thus means to fight those who offer resistance to Allah's rule (ie. Muslim conquest). The use of the word "persecution" by some Muslim translators is disingenuous (the actual Arabic words for persecution - "idtihad" - and oppression - a variation of "z-l-m" - do not appear in the verse). The word used instead, "fitna", can mean disbelief, or the disorder that results from unbelief or temptation. This is certainly what is meant in this context since the violence is explicitly commissioned "until religion is for Allah" - ie. unbelievers desist in their unbelief.

Quran (2:244) - "Then fight in the cause of Allah, and know that Allah Heareth and knoweth all things."

Quran (2:216) - "Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not." Not only does this verse establish that violence can be virtuous, but it also contradicts the myth that fighting is intended only in self-defense, since the audience was obviously not under attack at the time. From the Hadith, we know that this verse was narrated at a time that Muhammad was actually trying to motivate his people into raiding merchant caravans for loot.

Quran (3:56) - "As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help."

Quran (3:151) - "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority". This speaks directly of polytheists, yet it also includes Christians, since they believe in the Trinity (ie. what Muhammad incorrectly believed to be 'joining companions to Allah').

Quran (4:74) - "Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward." The martyrs of Islam are unlike the early Christians, who were led meekly to the slaughter. These Muslims are killed in battle as they attempt to inflict death and destruction for the cause of Allah. This is the theological basis for today's suicide bombers.

“King Apologist”, it is very difficult for most of us to correctly speak of ISIS, or the diverse followers of Islamic belief where we are properly grounded as disciples of Jesus Christ. The spiritual maturity that comes by having sacred knowledge and an imparted, indwelling Spirit from GOD is required to properly speak of divine intent. Answering honestly, many would have to confess ignorance of what anyone else believes who does not demonstrate faith similar to their own, and made visible by sacred practices and works. From my perspective as one willing to say, I am submitted to GOD (musleem) as was Abraham, ISIS advocates idolatry by focus upon a human solution (a government ruled by men; they say, caliphate) that is to be exalted above eternal purpose, divine law, and imparted Spirit. For sake of the caliphate the living are to embrace death; forswear family, friends, homeland; deny the duty for those who are strong to protect children, civilians in wartime, the disabled, and those who are weak; and refuse all other contracts and covenants, even that of jihad-al-Akbar.

Those who left Egypt with Moses, were challenged to willingly enter agreement with a divinity whose character and nature are made known and revealed through creation, deliverance, judgment, prophecy, and covenant relationship. Terms of the agreement included obedience to all commandments and proclamations of divine law as well as acceptance of operations by divinity to establish permanent changes within mankind upon the earth. Israel was to become a peculiar people, and a nation formed in the image of GOD. The new nation would be healed, purified, and set apart for continuing service and worship (we say, sanctified) through every aspect of exchange and interaction for its people.

A mixed multitude representing many nations joined those from the twelve tribes of Jacob requesting that GOD impose even the harshest punishments and death for transgression of divine law (we say, sin), rather than have GOD deny to them the special place of those who are partners in covenant with divinity. As the instruments of Deity, the covenant people are in a process of continuous growth and transformation. Thus, while Deity is eternal, immutable and unchanging, terms of the covenant may be altered, yet, not removed. Responses made to created beings and living creatures appear as “new” through diversity, discovery, and the unfolding of perfection.

There is far more that must be said to fully shift a person’s understanding regarding that that is holy (i.e. having the active presence, and eternal purposes of divinity). For example: The sinful practices acquired by seeking to participate in the one-world empire of the Egyptians (i.e., assimilation) had to be reversed over time. Almost immediately, while Moses was away in communion with GOD to receive the law written by the finger of GOD upon tables of stone, his brother Aaron, who was to serve as High Priest, led the people in worshiping the golden calf of Egypt. The change we speak of only comes without upheaval and widespread destruction through grace, mercy, and divine prerogative. Thousands of years later, 10 tribes would reject rule by the house of David. Jeroboam, who was exiled to Egypt, would establish the Northern Kingdom (Israel); and to prevent the people being influenced by the requirement for all sacrifices to be made only at the Temple at Jerusalem, and returning to the Unified Kingdom—Jeroboam established worship of the golden calf. Restoration for the house of David, and the continuing fulfillment of all covenant are to be seen as completely accomplished only where GOD will appear in flesh as Christ, Messiah, and Divinity Incarnate. Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith and willingness to be made spiritually mature.

Reading over the answers given here, I'm hesitant to even comment; Jesus warned us not to give pearls to swine, meaning, don't share the grace of God with people who aren't really interested in Truth, but simply want to argue and impress you with their, ah...knowledge. (Think Pharisees, for ex.)

Many are commenting on Scripture that they know little about (discerning Scripture with only the human intellect is a waste of time--Truth is revealed by the Holy Spirit to those who are seriously open to the Truth by the Grace of God), many simply don't believe in God at all and are relying on their own and the world's quite fallible wisdom (they remain dead to the Truth), some are under the false assumption that God owes them something (He does not...we're the ones who left Him, not the other way around), and of course, there are those who have ignored conscience for so long that they have become hardened and now actually think that there is nothing wrong with their lifestyles; they are blind and dead in their sins.

For those who truly want to understand the difference, the Truth, I offer this:

The God of the Old Testament and the New Testament is the same; He never changes. But He has sent His Son, prophesied about in the OT, to us to teach us about the true God, calling everyone to repent, and He died for the sins of all mankind--even you. Whoever believes in Him (not just head acknowledgement, but believes to the degree that you willingly give your life to Him to be changed to His likeness in behavior, walk, etc), will be changed, will become a part of God's kingdom, and will be spared the coming judgment on this world.

The true God of this Universe does not need a human army of killers going around enforcing His laws; He is perfectly capable of carrying out judgment without our help. This is a time of Grace, this is your time to be reconciled to God. Christians are called to be a people of peace, giving a message of peace to the world--peace that can only come to you and to the world through Jesus Christ, the author of Peace. The human race will never "evolve" into a just society without war, crime, etc--it cannot, because we are all born with a sin nature that can be somewhat controlled, but never done away with without the grace of God's son.

God, in His perfection, will judge the world, but His perfect Love for the world has sent a substitutionary sacrifice to pay the just penalty for all sin so that you and I don't have to spend eternity separated from Truth, life, light, joy, etc. As a side, human love can never be perfect in our fallen condition because of sin. So the choice of spending eternity lost in utter darkness and despair is totally up to you and what you choose to believe. May God open your heart and mind to the Truth is my prayer.

ISIL serves a man-made god and a mixture of beliefs that Mohammed picked up during his trading with Jews and Christians in the ancient world, along with his own philosophy. Mohammed was the first terrorist who forced others to accept his beliefs, or perish.

Christ never did this; in fact He willingly laid down His life for us. He said He could call Heaven's angels to rescue Him at any time, but in obedience, He gave His life for us, for your sake and mine, and He rose again so that we can be empowered to overcome sin which leads to spiritual death.

Because their man-made god is a god of violence more than of peace, conceived in a heart defiled by sin, by a heart accustomed to violence, etc, it requires followers to fight and force conversions, etc. Before Mohammed's "revelation", he was a warring tribesman, just like all of the others in the various clans of the desert Therefore, ISIL requires adherents to fight for it and exact judgment in their god's (non-existent) place. And Islam has been doing this off and on since 632 A.D.

NO WHERE in Scripture did Jesus ever tell his followers to fight and kill people who refused to believe in Him. Those in the past (and present) who have committed atrocities in Jesus' name were/are not true Christians, but deceived, evil people. Jesus said these people would come and warned His disciples that these false "religious", ungodly people would live among true followers as tares among the wheat. (Ever notice that, in a wild field of pasture, there are more weeds than good grass, flowers, etc? A very good picture of the world, in my mind...)

Judgment, again however, is God's job, not ours. Believers leave it to Him, at a time of His choosing.

Yes, God did command the Israelites of the OT to destroy those in Canan. God did most of it Himself, supernaturally, as the Israelites for the most part were often outnumbered. Why? It was to preserve a people who would be the race out of which, someday, would come the world's Messiah. He had given the people His laws, laws that show us that we cannot live righteously apart from Him; laws that give us a picture of the Holiness of God. Keep in mind, however, that many of the laws were in context with the culture at that time, however, the principles of right and wrong have not changed. These laws would someday be fulfilled in Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

It was not because the people in Canan were more wicked than any other people on Earth that they died. (And they were pretty wicked, even by our standards. They slept with animals and burned their children to Molech, a demon-god.)

Understand this: God owes us *nothing*. We all, deserve His judgment. All have fallen through Adam, the first, created in the image of God, and we are all defiled by sin. It is the mercy of God that we haven't been destroyed, and that, according to God's plan--made before the world was ever created--we have been given this time of grace to accept His redemption. As Jesus said, "Unless you repent, you will all, likewise, perish..."

But God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His son into the world to condemn the world, but through Him, the world might be saved.

Saved from what? Saved from destructiveness of sin, and saved from the coming judgment of God.
