Isn't that ever so funny, then that there are people like Afdhere Jama, the founder and editor of Huriyah, a queer Muslim magazine; based in San Francisco?

And what about Faisal Alam - a gay Pakistani American who founded the Al-Fatiha Foundation, an organization dedicated to advancing the cause of gay, lesbian, and transgendered Muslims?

And Parvez Sharma - a gay Muslim film director, living in New York?

And Irshad Manji - a Canadian author, journalist, and a lesbian feminist and critic of Islamic fundamentalism and orthodox interpretations of the Qur'an?

Waheed Alli, aka Baron Alli, of Norbury, London, who at the age of 34 becoming the youngest and the first openly gay peer in Parliament?

Seems rather queer, doesn't it, that they claim Islam doesn't allow gays and there are so many famous ones around?

There are many more, but not quite as famous as these.

It's a fact that there are many very Famous Muslim Gays who even adhere to their Prayers, surprising as it may seem, and those are the ones like Faisal Alam and Irshad Manji who are fighting for more of their kind like them who are "Reformationist Muslims"



Islam is, also facing a lot of "Reform" Movements from within. It's just that a lot of them don't want to admit it.



Baron Alli, however, doesn't fall into that Category, because he's not really Religiously inclined but was just born into it. Given half the chance, I'm sure he'd leave Islam. Anyway, he's nothing to lose, because as a gay, he's already sentenced to death and as an apostate, that's the same sentence.



The severity of Islamic Law is a very long Debate, so pardon me for refraining from venturing there.



The fact being that many, if not most, Muslims from the Middle East have gay episodes is a well known fact. The Law was, actually, made to curb the trend and only succeded in sending it into the closet.



Is it double standards? No. Because like the lady rightly said, they can do that here in our Protection, but there, they are dead, like the others.



And please don't let those like the guy who accused you of being a "closet gay" get to you. Most Muslims are very ill educated, due to many reasons. The only thing that they know is offense is the best form of defense. Some of the better educated Muslims display a sense of class, though.



As to whether we can do anything about the situation with Islams repressive policies, I think the simple answer is "We can't do anything other than offer our sympathy. It's their fight and they need to fight it, not us."

They are sentenced to death by the Syaria Law in some Muslim countries. Thank goodness though that in Malaysia, a muslim country where I live, they don't kill gays, they just get put away in prison for 20-30 years, which is still bad, but I'm thankful. Anyways, the reason why some muslims says that gays cannot be muslims, the reason why gays are stoned to death, or hanged, just for being gay, are all the same: homophobia. Some muslims from where I'm from don't care if their muslim friend is gay, as long as they don't hit on him. It should be noted that places where homophobia is most serious are where the people are conservative and extremely uneducated, or in other words, ignorant. They're raised in their tiny circle of people, where their media is strictly controlled by their homophobic and conservative government. Many of them do not even know about homosexuality because it is so taboo. So, their government, because of their homophobia, write it into their law so that gays are punished by hanging or worse, stoning. That is why I'd rather US invade Iran. But US doesn't care, because Bush is incharge and he cares too much about the oil in Iraq to think about anything else.

You missed the point, there are homosexual men among all racial and religious groups, including Muslims. but Homosexuals living under Sharia law (law of Islam) are killed if found out.

So all your Muslim homosexuals live in non Muslim countries, where they don't fear the Muslim punishment.
