Is there a recipe in any of these church fundraiser cookbooks that doesn't include cream of mushroom soup, lemon jello, or lard?

Those must be some old cookbooks, or cookbooks from a church with a large elderly population. I've seen the type you're referring to, and they don't just come from churches. Schools and neighborhood associations are bad about that, too. Personally, if my church was going to do a cookbook, I'd submit my recipe for Spicy Homemade Salsa, and/or Hot Chocolate and Banana Wontons w/Pineapple/Mango Dipping Sauce.

I am not sure which predominates the era of the fundraiser more: Fantasy 50's junkfood or PWT (Poor White Trash) we-really-do-need-money recipes.

Do not get me wrong. For my former work's "Cultural Heritage Party" (its-not-a-Christmas Party) every year I would bring a different White Trash Treat:

Only a few people liked the bowl of uncooked cookie dough.

They made me take the sign down from my S&M's (M&M's mixed with Skittles).

Or all three of the above mentioned ingredients in the same recipe?

No. I love all those cookbooks, I am fascinated with those recipes...I am vegan so I get some laughs out of them!

Hey now! Cream of mushroom soup and ramen noodles got me through college!

Hehe. Once my mom tried to submit her recipe for Better Than Sex Cake in our church's bake-off. It was banned. Honestly, you think if anything it would discourage the kids from having sex if they think eating a crummy piece of cake is a better experience.

How about some nice cottage cheese casserole?

Don't forget the mini marshmallows
