Question:
Who is worthy to enter the Kingdom of God?
2007-10-26 10:55:12 UTC
In these days with all of our knowledge and technology I can understand why there are non-believers in this world. For those of you who are Christian, please explain why those who are not believers in Jesus will not inherit the kingdom of God. As a Christian, I think it is unfair for a good, loving atheist, for example, to go to hell. I understand that we don't inherit the kingdom of God through good works alone, but through faith, but seriously how is this fair? How does this make God out to be loving to all His children. Please list scripture that says it is faith in Jesus. Is it possible that scripture could be interpreted that entering God's kingdom through Jesus simply means that it is His decision and not just having faith in Him? After all, if being saved is through grace and not works, then couldn't someone be a believer in Jesus and a horrible human being, but still go to Heaven? Sounds illogical to me. What are your thoughts? Please list scripture too. Thank you.

No one is worthy of the Kingdom. This is why Jesus stands in for us as our Advocate, Lawyer so to speak. The fact is that God loves us so much that He would never, ever force anyone into His Kingdom the way people try to force this and that on others. If we would not be happy with the lifestyle there He is not going to force us to go. If a body has cancer you cut it out so it won't affect the rest of the body. When everything is finally finished we will still have the power of choice. That is gift of God that won't be taken away. Since no one wants the sin to ever arise again then those who may contaminate the beauty, joy, and love of heaven will be cut off much like a cancer that affects the body. Don't worry people will not burn on for ever and ever and ever...they will just be burned up, finished, completed. In the Bible God speaks of Satan and says, "I will bring you to ashes under my feet". Completion and it is finished..finally. Mmm

You are so close to the truth, it's exciting! You are right to say that it would be totally unfair for God to claim to love all his children equally yet bar some of them from the Kingdom even if their good works were equal to (or surpassed) those of Christians. That is why God says NOBODY is worthy of entering his Kingdom! Think about it...

Not a single soul merits entrance on the basis of their good works. The reason? All our righteous acts are as filthy rags in the sight of a holy and perfect God (Isaiah 64:6-7 and said of God's chosen people!) Our pride taints everything we do. Our motives are not pure. We are not utterly selfless. That is why the apostle Paul said there is no-one good, no, not even one (Romans chapter 3). We are not sinless. Not a day goes by without us commiting sin that warrants the penalty - death. We are all slaves to sin, until Christ sets us free. We could all be set free, if we confessed our total inability to satisfy God's requirements for justice and trusted in Christ's sacrifice on our behalf to pay the penalty for us. That's what faith is. But if anyone lacks such faith, all they have to do is ask God for it, and he will supply it! You can't get fairer than that!

When Christ was here on earth he said,

NO ONE gets to the father except through me.

If you don't believe in Jesus and except him as your Lord and Savior, how do you believe in Heaven? How can you believe in God and heaven which God made by the way but... not Jesus?

And... what makes you decide if you are a good person?

Have you ever lied?

Have you ever stolen something?

Have you ever cheated on a test?

Ever broken the law (even if it was just speeding)?

If you have ever done any of those things, how does that make you a good person?

Everyone sins. However... when you except Christ into your life, you are forgiven of your sins. That is what the difference is.

If you turn your back on Christ and it's time for you to go to heaven, why should he open the gates of heaven to you when you turned your back towards him?

I remember a saying in the Bile (Pslams) that talks about God's will. It states that were we as humans were not meant to understand God's plan, we were meant to preach about his word to those who do not know it. I feel sad that you as a christian question God. Count up all what he has done for you. Yes it maybe unjust for our loving God to not allow people to his perfect kingdom. Hoever, in John chapter 1, the apostle John informs us that those who recieved him, they were given the right to be called sons of God. God loves everyone, from gays to deomcrats(small joke). Those who haven't accepted him as lord and savior, are only his creation. It is sort of like a club in school. You wouldn't like it that you have an end of the year party and have worked hard on for it, and then someone new comes and gets to enter into the party. This is exactly what God does. He is mericful and compassionate. I mean that you can be a long time christian and get into heaven, but at the same time a 50 year old man dies, but repents before he dies. He is allowed into the kingdom of God because he confessed his sins and accepted Jesus as lord and savior. The scripture say in the Book of Revaltion that all will face judgement. Meaning, everyone will come face to face with God, and bow to him, but because God sees your heart, he will see sin in some hearts. God hates sin; from the sin of teh Garden of Eden from Adam and Eve to today. However, those who confess their sins and accept Jesus, God will see Jesus in our hearts and see no sin at all. Yes someone could be a believer in Jesus and do horrible things, but there is a saying; everything you do in life, you must pay the consequences." So that Christian who does that horrible stuff, with have to pay the consequences. I believe that the things will do bad in this world, God will take away jewels from our crowns. So just read your bible, talk to your pastor, and have discussions with your christian friends, but stick with your view according to the bible of course.

I think behind the good, loving face of any atheist, there is also secret thoughts that is only known to them. We cannot judge a book by its cover, and we cannot judge someone's heart just because their nice and carrying. It's hard to believe, but any person who is TRULLY good and loving, will simply have no reason to deny the existance of God. For God is love and God is good. It should come naturally to a person who is good in their nature to meet God as their Lord and Savior sooner or later. However, atheists who deny the existance of God will not inherit the Kingdom of God only because they are not covered by the blood of Christ and satan therefore will have the legal rights over their souls. God cannot force anyone into his Kingdom of God. When Bible says that such and such will not inheret the Kingdom of God, it's not because God doesn't want the there, but because satan has rights over their souls. But once again, Bible calls those who do not believe that God exists mere fools and there will be no fools in the Kingdom of God. Ironically, atheists most of the time call themselves smart, but little do they know really...

Romans 10:9 and 10 tell EXACTLY who will be saved =)

If I pay your electric bill for the month of October...you can NEVER pay that bill or convince the electric company that something that you will do will cover that month's bill. IT HAS BEEN PAID. The same goes for salvation. Jesus Christ paid for our sins by dying on the cross and we can NEVER pay that bill or DO anything to cover it. You just have to accept that He paid it. I once heard that even when the president grants a pardon for a prisoner on death row, it is up to that person to ACCEPT that pardon. It is his choice to accept it OR reject it. Just like us with God, He has given us a pardon through His Son Jesus Christ and all we have to do is accept it...if we choose not to then we continue on death row. The choice is ours.

Romans 5:2 through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.

1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

John 14:6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The Kingdom of God is not what you think it is. When Jesus came preaching the Kingdom of God, He said it was "at hand" and commanded people to repent and believe the good news about it (Mark 1:14, 15). He was not talking about something that was to come.

His teachings encouraged unconditional self-sacrificing God-like love for God and for all people. During his sermons, he preached about service and humility, the forgiveness of sin, faith, turning the other cheek, love for one's enemies as well as friends, and the need to follow the spirit of the law in addition to the letter.

Jhn 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Pretty simple.

True, we are saved by grace- but its grace THROUGH faith ( Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith;) in Christ. We cannot be recipients of saving grace apart from saving faith.

The only way into heaven and out of eternal hell is to believe that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose again (1 Corinthains 15:1-4)

Forgive me, but you'll have to look it up. Faith must work through charity (works). Everyone will be judged according to their works. It takes faith to be saved, yes. It takes faith to do works too. But no one shall be judged according to their faith. The Gentiles shall be judged according to their works, by the workings of the law within their hearts. And God will not fail on anyone. There are three heavens. We have yet to see the first two. Unbelievers have plenty of chances to know Him.

I hope the following will ease your concern somewhat.

Ones actions on the physical plane are not judged by God, but by others in Creation whose responsibility it is to do so. God has one care, and that is for His Souls. Each Soul has an Absolute connection with God, and this connection cannot and will never be disconnected.

Each of us comes into each life with a Fate Karma. A plan for ones life that was put together by oneself and the "judge" at the end of ones previous life. Now the Christian does not believe in Karma, or in reincarnation, so the Christian is in denial of reality... and that is sad, but not a permanent thing.

Ones religion is simply part of ones Fate Karma, and when the Karma associated with ones religion is over, so is ones attachment to ones religion. The level of ones consciousness is determined by the experiences and "learning" one has achieved throughout ones many lives. For some, such "learning" is intense, for others it is less so. The intensity is determined by one as part of ones Fate Karma. The more intense ones life is, the more Karma one burns off, and the more consciousness one acquires.

Heaven is acquired by those whose lives have been mostly positive. Ones stay in one of the many heavens is determined by the nature of ones actions. When this stay comes to an end, one reincarnates to continue with the purpose of life.

The purpose of life is to discover the many aspects of God by fully exploring and experiencing these on the physical plane of Creation. The Soul is the vehicle by which God explores Himself, and the Soul itself is the microcosm of the macrocosm.

The MIND rules and administers the three lower planes of Creation. These are the Causal region, the Astral region, and the physical region. The Pure Spiritual region does not even begin until one has risen above these three lower regions of Creation. So, the idea of God personally interfering in the matters of this physical plane is an anthropomorphic notion make up by Man to explain what some men fail to comprehend.

God is Love in an Absolute sense. This means that God is never anything else, and in fact, cannot be other than Absolute Love. So to administer the Yin and Yang of the lower three planes of Creation, God alloted this task to Kal, ruler of the three lower planes of Creation. Kal does this out of Love for God.

As ye sow, so shall ye reap. This saying is an Absolute saying in that it refers to an Absolute law of Creation. Each Soul will ultimately become Perfect... but only after experiencing as much imperfection as Creation has to offer.

Are you actually asking why an atheist who doesnt even believe in God should get to spend eternity with God?/?? I guess I think that's self explanatory
2007-10-26 11:47:35 UTC
I am not sure if you really understand what the kingdom of God is. It is not a place. It is not speaking about just going to heaven. The kingdom of God means the rule of God. It means recognizing and yielding to Him as Lord. It means submitting to Him and comprehending His Lordship over and in your life. It means understanding and having fellowship with Him. Remember in John 3:3 when Jesus was talking to Nicodemus a very religious man, a pharisee, who was very educated and a teacher of the law, but Jesus told him that unless one is born again he CANNOT SEE the kingdom of God. First of all He said cannot which indicates inability. Then He says see which indicates recognition. So He was saying to Nicodemus that unless a person is born again he has no ability to recognize the Lordship or rule of God. Then is verse 5 Jesus says he CANNOT ENTER the kingdom of God. This is referring to yeilding or submitting to the rule of God. Without the new birth a person is void of the Holy Spirit of God and it is the Holy Spirit within an individual who enables a person to understand the things of God, such as His Word, His ways, His love, His character and the way God thinks. It is the Holy Spirit who links our spirit with God's Spirit. Romans 2:14; says But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he CANNOT understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. Who is the natural man? It is the man who has not been born again, he is void of the Spirit of God.

He is not a child of God but he is a child of the devil.

Faith is believing God and trusting God. It is believing what God says to be true. The new birth involves the Word of God and the Holy Spirit working together. That is why Jesus told Nicodemus in verse 5 when he said one is born of water and the Spirit. This is not talking about baptism, but the Word of God is often referred to in scripture as a cleansing agent. It is used this way in Ephesians 5:26; in speaking about the Church as a bride to Christ. verse 26; that He (Jesus) might sanctify her, (the Church) having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word. John 15:3 Jesus said you are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

So you see God is not unfair and unjust because faith is believing Him and trusting Him. If a person does not believe Jesus and trust His sacrifice for them to save them then they make Him a liar. Jesus says if a person does not believe He is who He says he is they will die in their sins. John 8:24; I said therefore to you, that unless you believe that I Am He, you shall die in your sins.He is God.

If you don't believe God you don't trust God and you do not love God. Why would you want to spend eternity with Him and His children if you do not want to be Him. Heaven is not fire insurance, it is for those who worship, reverence, and love the Lord. Heaven is for those who want to be with God because they are grateful to Him for every breath they take. It is only because of the grace that came by Christ Jesus that God does not consume us all and send all of us to the lake of fire because we all sin against Him and disgrace and dishonor Him. The forgiveness of God is for those who recognize they have nothing within themselves worthy of God saving them and they could never produce anything worthy enough. To reject the sacrifice of His Son is unblelief and ingratitude to a loving God and the lake of fire is your choice, not God's. If you choose to follow Satan all the way to the pit, don't blame God because you wanted to stay a child of the devil instead of becoming a child of God.

Reasoning from the Scriptures page 226

Kingdom

Is God's Kingdom a real government?

Who are the rulers in the Kingdom?

Rev. 15:3: "Great and wonderful are your works, Jehovah God, the Almighty. Righteous and true are your ways, King of eternity."

Dan. 7:13, 14: "“I kept on beholding in the visions of the night, and, see there! with the clouds of the heavens someone like a son of man [Jesus Christ, see Mark 14:61, 62] happened to be coming; and to the Ancient of Days [Jehovah God] he gained access, and they brought him up close even before that One. And to him [Jesus Christ] there were given rulership and dignity and kingdom, that the peoples, national groups and languages should all serve even him. His rulership is an indefinitely lasting rulership that will not pass away, and his kingdom one that will not be brought to ruin."

Mark 14:61, 62: "But he kept silent and made no reply at all. Again the high priest began to question him and said to him: “Are you the Christ the Son of the Blessed One?” Then Jesus said: “I am; and YOU persons will see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of power and coming with the clouds of heaven.”

Rev. 5:9, 10: "And they sing a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, because you were slaughtered and with your blood you bought persons for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth.” (At Revelation 14:1-3 these "bought from the earth" to be rulers with the Lamb [Jesus Christ] on heavenly Mount Zion are said to number 144,000.)

Rev. 14:1-3: "And I saw, and, look! the Lamb standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads. And I heard a sound out of heaven as the sound of many waters and as the sound of loud thunder; and the sound that I heard was as of singers who accompany themselves on the harp playing on their harps. And they are singing as if a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders; and no one was able to master that song but the hundred and forty-four thousand, who have been bought from the earth."

What effect will this Kingdom have on human governments?

Dan. 2:44: “And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite;"

Ps. 2:8, 9: "Ask of me, that I may give nations as your inheritance

And the ends of the earth as your own possession. You will break them with an iron scepter, As though a potter’s vessel you will dash them to pieces.”

What will God's Kingdom accomplish?

Sanctify Jehovah's name and uphold his sovereignty

Matt. 6:9, 10: "YOU must pray, then, this way: “‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth." (Here the sanctifying of God's name is closely associated with the coming of His Kingdom.)

Ezek. 38:23: "And I shall certainly magnify myself and sanctify myself and make myself known before the eyes of many nations; and they will have to know that I am Jehovah.’ (God's name will be cleansed of all reproach; it will be treated as holy and deserving of respect, and all who live will be persons who willingly uphold Jehovah's sovereignty, delighting to do his will. Upon such sanctification of Jehovah's name the peace and well-being of all the universe depend.)

What Is God’s Kingdom?

http://watchtower.org/e/20060715/article_01.htm

WHAT a terrible disaster struck mankind early in human history! An angel rebelled against the authority of the very One who had created him. This rebel enticed the first woman, Eve, to eat the forbidden fruit. Referring to her and her husband, Adam, the angel said: “You positively will not die. For God knows that in the very day of your eating from it your eyes are bound to be opened and you are bound to be like God, knowing good and bad.” (Genesis 2:16, 17; 3:1-5) The rebellious angel came to be called Devil and Satan.—Revelation 12:9.

Did Eve pay attention to Satan’s words? The Bible tells us: “The woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was something to be longed for to the eyes, yes, the tree was desirable to look upon. So she began taking of its fruit and eating it. Afterward she gave some also to her husband when with her and he began eating it.” (Genesis 3:6) Yes, the first couple, Adam and Eve, joined Satan in his rebellion. As a consequence, they lost Paradise for themselves and for their descendants. Children who were to be born perfect with eternal life ahead of them would instead inherit sin and death.—Romans 5:12.

How did Jehovah God, the Sovereign Ruler of the universe, respond? He purposed to make provision for the forgiveness of sins. (Romans 5:8) Jehovah God has also established a governmental arrangement to manage the crisis. This arrangement is called “the kingdom of God.” (Luke 21:31) Set up as a subsidiary to God’s universal rulership, this Kingdom has a specific purpose.

What is the purpose of God’s Kingdom? What are some of its aspects, and how do they compare with human rulership? When was the Kingdom to begin ruling? These questions will be discussed in the following article.

God’s Kingdom Superior in Every Way

http://watchtower.org/e/20060715/article_02.htm

JESUS CHRIST taught his followers: “You must pray, then, this way: ‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth.’” (Matthew 6:9, 10) This prayer, known to many as the Our Father, or the Lord’s Prayer, explains the purpose of God’s Kingdom.

By means of the Kingdom, God’s name will be sanctified. It will be cleared of all the dishonor that has been heaped upon it as a result of the rebellion of Satan and man. This is vital. The happiness of all intelligent creatures depends on their holding God’s name sacred and willingly accepting his right to rule.—Revelation 4:11.

In addition, the Kingdom is set up to “let [God’s] will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth.” And what is that will? It is to restore the relationship between God and humankind, which Adam lost. The Kingdom will also serve the purpose of the Universal Sovereign, Jehovah, to establish a paradise on earth where good people can enjoy life forever. Yes, God’s Kingdom will undo all the damage done by original sin and will make God’s loving purpose for the earth a reality. (1 John 3:8) This Kingdom and what it will accomplish is, in fact, the main message of the Bible.

Superior in What Ways?

God’s Kingdom is a real government having great power. The prophet Daniel gave us a glimpse of just how powerful it is. Long ago, he foretold: “The God of heaven will set up a kingdom that . . . will crush and put an end to all [human] kingdoms.” Moreover, in contrast with human governments, which come and go over the course of history, God’s Kingdom “will never be brought to ruin.” (Daniel 2:44) That is not all. In every respect, this Kingdom is far superior to any human government.

God’s Kingdom has a superior King. Consider who that King is. In “a dream and visions” given to him, Daniel beheld the Ruler of God’s Kingdom as “someone like a son of man” brought before Almighty God and given lasting “rulership and dignity and kingdom.” (Daniel 7:1, 13, 14) That Son of man is none other than Jesus Christ—the Messiah. (Matthew 16:13-17) Jehovah God designated his own Son, Jesus, to be King of His Kingdom. When on earth, Jesus said to the wicked Pharisees: “The kingdom of God is in your midst,” meaning that he, the future King of that Kingdom, was among them.—Luke 17:21.
