Question:
What religion am I? I only believe in one God?

Ok, I have become increasing more confused as I have pursued a church or a faith association. I would like to meet with like minded people that feel the same way I do. Here are my beliefs put very simply. I DO believe in one God. I know I am not christian, jewish or muslim. I will now go into a little more detail. There are so many holy books that claim they have the definitive answers. But, all those books contradict each other. None of them are even close to being the same. The christian bible claims that jesus was the son of God. Jewish people, if i'm not mistaken believe jesus was a false profit. Muslims believe jesus was a holy man but not the son of God. So, they all differ on who jesus was. They also all differ on what it takes to get into heaven. So the world population is 2 billion christians, 1.3 billion muslims and about 13 millions jews. That is pretty divided. But they all have one major thing in common. That is, that there is one God. So before anyone gets up set let me say this "I think everyone who believes in one God is right!" But, most people can't leave it at that. They go on to try to explain the unexplainable. After having this same conversation with friends they told me I was Mono-Theistic. Which means to believe in one God. But, I have never heard of a strictly mono-theisic church. So if anyone knows of any groups that feel the same or similiar to me I would greatly appreciate to know about them. Please feel free to openly comment. Thanks

wow that is a tough question... I was raised christian so it's easy for me to say that the Holy Bible is the only true one....

let's think it through... the muslims believe Jesus was just a holy man and nothing more!? if that's the case... Jesus repeatedly states that He (meaning Jesus) is the child of God, the Messiah. if he was just a holy man, why would a holy man be misleading everybody? same can go for the jews too....

it's pretty tough to rap your head around... just pray that God will show you the way... that He will send someone or something to guide you...

Monotheism isn't a religion, it's a kind of religion. All religions which believe in only one God are monotheistic religions. The main ones are Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, although there are others, and Muslims do not believe that Christians are monotheists (they believe that calling Jesus God automatically means Christians believe in more than one God).

The whole point behind going to being part of an organized religion is to try to understand what God is. If all you believe is that there is one God, and you know nothing else about that God, or about morality, or about God's will, then it doesn't sound like there's much to talk about. What makes you certain there is only one God? The answer to that question may lead you into the right direction for which group to talk to.

ok, this is it. All religions believe that there is a God. Most all, if not all believe there is a Messiah. The jews believed that Jesus was a profit but not the Messiah bc he was poor. The Muslims...I don't know what they believe but Ala and whatever else.

Bottom line....all are waiting for God's return and the truth is that the simple thing of believing in Jesus as your Lord and savior is all that it takes. People make faith to be this mysterious thing but it isn't! The facts are in the Bible and there is plenty of proof to support the facts.

Jesus is the ONLY profit, to say, that died and rose again, just like the old testament said He would. The jews believe, just not that Jesus was the ONE.

The days are numbered and God is coming back for His people sooner than later.

Just pray and ask God to open your eyes to the truth and that you will see Him for all He is and who He is.

Hope to see you in heaven :)

The only thing u have in common with all those religions is that you believe that there is a one God. How you differ is the way of life. Thats how most of they differ also and the jesus thing. Since you dont think your Christian, Muslim, or Jewish ur just Agnostic, which means you believe there is a God but you dont know who he/she (if can be consider that since he is a God) and you dont believe there is a way of life. What YOU have to do is experiment with the religions and see which one means to you. No one can convert you but yourself. I hope you find peace.

Why do you believe there is a god? Where do you get the idea from?

You say you know you're not christian, jewish or muslim. You talk about the contradictions in their holy books. This means, your idea of there bring a god did not come from any of these holy books. All of these religions believe there is a god because they believe in these books. They believe these books were either inspired, or sent directly from god (as muslims believe). So, they have a starting point and explanation for why they believe in god. Their holy book tells them there is a god, so they believe it.

This leads me to think that you believe there is a god simply because you've heard there is a god. Upon lack of knowledge about where and how we came to be, you accept there is a god to give you a sense of "knowing". However, you feel left out. You want to mingle with others and talk about your god, however it is your imagination creates him. Getting together with others and agreeing on how you imagine god is will give you a sense of belonging and will not make you weird.

The reason why there are so many religions is because humans create their own god in their imagination. When a group of people do not like a "rule" within their religion, they get together and form their own new religion. Hence why so many different type of christian religions. They have ran out of names to come up with, so now they started calling themselves non-denominational. The more rebel ones that want to be "modern" so they can reaaaallly twist their holy book to fit their need for freedom from having to follow so many rules are starting to come up with names like "Unitarians" or come up with churches like "Mana". While it's obvious to us that they just want an easy ticket to heaven, they claim to be tolerant of other's beliefs.

You don't need a church. What you need is to realize that it is ok to not know.

You say that all religions conflict. Agreed. Even in any particular religion, the different denominations 'conflict' and 'disagree'. This suggests the people who 'interpret' the original teachings of that religion are misinterpreting them. In truth, the principle teachings of all religions is the same (oneness of God, oneness of mankind, love, respect, truthfulness, righteousness etc.)

I suggest you study the following religion (the Baha'i Faith) very carefully. Have a look at the websites in the "source" section. I think you'll come to agree with a lot of the principles offered by this religion. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

So you don't believe Jesus was the son of god. (Not Christian)

And you don't believe that Muhammad's teachings were completely correct. (Not muslim)

And you're not Jewish...

If you don't believe in anything other than God, you're probably not going to find a church out there for you. Most people have a more specific idea of what they believe.

You belive in GOD.i told you there is only one GOD.and the question you have asked that who was jesus. he is not the son of the GOD he was the holy men.you might know that a child born with the conection of a girl and a boy. while GOD is all alone he has no son, no daughter,no wife,he is from the bigning and will remain for ever.jesus i belive was born without father but he was having a mother.as compair to Adam he was the first man on earth he was send on earth with out father and mother can you belive that he might also be the son of GOD. as compair to jesus he was having mother. but Adam was send to the earth alone
2009-06-24 22:25:08 UTC
Well I'm kind of like that. I believe in one God but I don't believe that all of the holy books are 'his word'. I believe that he'd want us to do other things than what the bible and other things say, but I don't feel like going into detail. My friends are like that too, but all have semi-different beliefs about it.

Humanity is the best religion for mankind

People could be Gods gift to Mankind, everyone has the same body and soul. By respecting people He created we are actually respecting the Creator. Hatred leads nowhere, love, caring go a long way. Man has no right to decide which religion/church/etc is the best.

Obviously you're a theist. Not atheist. But a "theist".

Well, what you believe about this One God is something YOU need to figure out.

Are you open minded?

Try Unitarian Universalism.

Perhaps you should contact the Dali Llama.

Christian churches are considered by some other "religions" to be in fact, polytheistic (father, son, holy spirit).

Well, you can try not having to join a church. If you truly believe in God you don't need a religion to worship him. I'm pretty sure even God hates organized religion, his name gets used in some pretty big arguments. I guess the closest thing would be agnosticism, but not really.

What are your beliefs on Jesus? You could be a non denominational Christian. Or an agnostic.

You would, by definition, be a mono theist. Unitarian Universalism embraces all spiritual paths, perhaps you could look into that if you are looking for fellowship?
