atheists: why cant you be more polite?

i heard that in japan, people will be polite even when faced with what they consider to be obnoxious views, i think atheists could learn from the japanese and maintain a polite and civilised composure in the face of fundamentalism.

Young and/or stupid people are often rude, or oblivious to the ordinary behavior patterns of civil discussion. This applies to atheists, the religious,, those of different political persuasions, etc.



Smart adults don't need to be rude to make a point.



But a word of (possible) clarification, many people feel a rejection of their viewpoint to be synonymous with an attack or an insult. This need not be the case

If you have no hope, you believe everything that exist is but an accident or you will never be held accountable for your actions then everything that crosses your path is seen as how you may use it in your short meaningless life or it is just a nuisance.

If you believe you will never see your family members again what does it matter how you treat them, they are just accidents too right?

If we are just accidents why the emotions especially guilt or pity?

Accountability is the foundation of religion and truly needed by all.

Just because you're a sad loser who sits on his computer crying all day doesn't mean I won't tell it how it is. Knowing the truth is better than living in blissful ignorance. I feel that way, and so I think everyone must feel that way. It's better this way.

The Asian countries haven't had Xian fundamentalism shoved in their face for centuries and have a history chock full of Christians killing others.

And the way things are now, if they express too much displeasure about anything, they risk jail or death.

I just would like you to realize that the majority of atheists on this website are here to bash on religion. But in real life, the majority of atheists really don't care what others believe. We are, for the most part, tolerant. It's just the tendency for trolls to inhabit the internet that makes this seem not so. I, for one, am a huge fan of religion. I have a Catholic girlfriend, who I go to church with every Sunday. I don't think that religion is correct, but humans are not perfect beings. We're not supposed to be absolutely correct about everything. In my opinion, just because it is incorrect doesn't make it wrong.

maybe Atheists would be "more polite" if theists started being more polite first. Also, I am not going to sit back and be polite while there are theists setting humanity back thousands of years and teaching their views to their children....we need our future to have more scientists, doctors, astronauts, teachers, biologists, etc not children who grow up to be adults who still have their imaginary friends.

this question is contradicting. In your question you claim that atheists arent polite to begin with. Well is it polite to insult a group of people? Perhaps the past atheist you have encounter are unpolite. But certainly not all of them.

My facts about atheists in this forum is the frequency which atheists in this forum will complain about being mean to them and point out they are only 14 or 15 years old. I did not say atheists in general, I said atheists IN THIS FORUM... and I stand by what I have said! IF they are not chronologically teenagers they at the very least act like teenagers. From what I see none of the responses - including yours- gives me any reason to amend my position!
